    Good toss after a bad one! In the past, when I've lost a few from a mile to ten miles, I usually go back and re-toss the next day. Often, I pick up some of the MIAs from the day before that way. Some of them wind up being big losers and go missing again (I picked one up three times that way until he went MIA permanently at 5 miles). But a couple of the MIAs picked up that way finally matured into reliable pigeons with a little more experience. Most of the second toss pick ups that became reliable pigeons often came back on the second toss showing signs of having been cut by birds of prey. That would lead me to think that they had been attacked at the toss site and hid out for the night, but once they saw their loft mates, joined them for home.

    Best to train them and get the experience. Try to race a few races and hopefully the top pigeons are in the 12

    Man, I was holding my breath when you got home and didn’t see birds. I think I felt the same relief as you when they showed up. I’m glad you’re still making videos and letting training them.

    I’m glad you keep going with the small team .
    I did good with a small team before is so much easier.
    I will check the birds closely for anything out of the ordinary and treat them .
    For a bad toss in a short toss like you had is something not adding up here.
    I seen your birds flying around your loft with no problems not coming home is something there.
    I will check for coccidiosis and cancer .
    You need to do something with your hawk he will stay around now he knows is food there .
    Any way good luck with your season i will need a good one also .

    I hope you will be able to race this year....last year I started the race season with only 9-birds and ended with 3-birds but I had a pretty good season and a lot of fun.

      you dont lose quality pigeons like yours from a mile from home unless they was not right inside that you cant see unless you get them tested, good luck with the remainder of your youngsters

    They're looking good. Don't lose hope. Maybe you just need these birds to go through the YB season. I like your black bird BTW. Speaking of hawks, they are awful this year. They took one of my very last round white birds, which had been out only for several times, in the air and right in front of my eyes, and carried it away into the woods. I could not find him. The hawk also scared off the other 5 very young birds and only 3 of them returned( 1 second day). Horrible! My race teams are fine since they are much stronger and faster. But they can be sacred. That's why you may have seen in my videos, they're trapping much faster. I'm really reluctant to let my birds out for loft fly. I'd rather do tosses. Anyway, good luck and all the best!

      I had the hawk show up the other day. Luckily I’ve learned the signs from the wild birds and my rooster. When I hear the wild birds screeching and my rooster is silent and watching the sky the hawk is around. Usually if I sit there long enough and watch I’ll see him fly by after a little. My devious side has been saying just get the hawk on the ground and let the rooster out. He’s 12 lbs of fiery fury with daggers for spurs on his legs. He’d make that hawk regret looking at my yard.

    • @blancloft
      @blancloft Рік тому

      @@DanzaLoft We all need a flying rooster, lol! I think if you don't have a lot of trees close to your loft, you should be fine since your birds are strong enough now and the chances for a hawk to catch them in the flight are slim. My backyard faces a wooded area and I have a lot of trees very close to, or even right above the loft. Hawks can hide there and wait for the birds to slow down while landing to ambush them. You're right, some birds like magpies and crows are our friends, they just screech and chase hawks away when they see them. Anyway, we have to live with it. Good luck for your road training!

      @@quinteroloft9530 Thanks! It seems they are training well and on the right track. Races are unpredictable and many factors come into play. This is my first season racing and I have a lot to experience and learn. I hope they will do well during the race season. Cheers!

      Este es un muy buen punto: generalmente mezclo uno o dos pájaros viejos para los primeros lanzamientos, especialmente cuando no estoy muy seguro de la capacidad de búsqueda de los pájaros jóvenes.
