It absolutely can work, with a great organizational effort, discipline to ship your orders every day, and discipline to get your cards listed everyday. I'm approaching 100,000 items listed, with several thousand orders under my belt. What you say about having a massive inventory is absolutely correct. It compounds upon itself - your sell-through rate will increase with more inventory because there's more likelihood that someone will want 2 or 3 or 4 cards from you, which increases profit/order and the speed with which you sell any individual card. Excellent video!

For me, an interesting follow up would be to time yourself a few different days packing up orders and get an average time to package up orders. It's been quite variable the few times I've tracked it but for simple single graded cards or singles going into a PWE I figure ~30 items / hour when you account for the time printing/packing I guess you should account for the time to the post office and all that realistically too. Using this you could try and figure out roughly what you are paying yourself hourly for selling these items. Nice video breaking down the numbers!

Dude, this was so informative. Thank you! I am currently in the process of organizing thousands of bulk cards to be able to start listing them. 2 Questions: How do you deal with shipping costs when an order goes above the $20 maximum for eBay standard shipping labels, or if the amount of cards is too bulky for a standard envelope? Do you just pack it USPS First Class at that point and take the hit to profit? Also, do you normally create a single listing with variations for bulk cards and list them by set? I imagine having one listing with a drop-down bar to select the commons/uncommons you want from a particular set would be pretty efficient.

Hey! I saw your eBay store a few days ago, I didn't know you did informational videos. This was great! I have one question out of curiosity since you seem pretty experienced. I got my envelopes at 0.01 ea, my toploaders at 0.08 each, and team bags at 0.02 ea
Thank You - Glad you Enjoyed! Personally, I list everything within individual listings - mainly because I've had many of my listings since before eBay allow variation listings within the CCG Category and it would take forever for me to go-back through everything and re-list under variation listing(s). Plus, I think it's beneficial to have multiple listings pop-up vs. just one if someone does a generic search like "Vivid Voltage Rev. Holo" (or something along those lines). But, if you're concerned with number of listings and/or just getting started with selling bulk-type cards, I'd definitely recommend variation listings vs. individual listings! I'd recommend creating a couple listings per set (Non-Holo / Holo, Rev. Holo, "Hit" Cards...). But, as long as you set-up variation listing correctly, you won't have any issue with your listing popping-up for specific searches even though your Item Title does not specifically mention whichever card that buyer is searching. For Example, if you're listing Vivid Voltage Holo Cards within Variation Listing, your Item Title may be something like "Pokemon SWSH Vivid Voltage Set HOLOGRAPHIC Card - Near Mint (NM) Condition" one of your variations would be "Zeraora 061/185". If someone searches "Zeraora" and/or "061/185" your listing will pop-up within search results (assuming that you have that card available).
No, I’ll just take the loss on those orders. You’re not making money on those orders; but, you’re building feedback / reputation and possibly a customer who will come back to purchase more down the line. If I were to cancel orders, that person could leave neutral / negative feedback and I’ve most certainly lost them as a future customer.
Great video! Enjoyed the presentation. Whats the most amount of cards that can be placed in the yellow bubbler envelope where the postage you mentioned is viable?
Postage that I was referring too was eBay's Standard Envelope with Tracking (PWE with Tracking). You can't use a bubble mailer with this mail-class - I use #10 Envelopes. There are a few different options within this mail-class: $0.51 (1 Oz.) is for 1-2 Cards, $0.71 (2 Oz.) is for 3-4 Cards, $0.91 (3 Oz.) is for 5-10 Cards. Any orders that are 11+ Cards are "upgraded" to First Class Mail with Tracking (Bubble Mailer).
Great video! What’s your setup like as far as taking pictures for eBay ? Especially for the singles when you have hundreds of them.. that has to take hours
I'm working-on a kind of "follow-up" video to this where I'll go over how long it takes me to do everything when it comes to selling on eBay: Taking Pictures, Listing, Packaging... Definitely not going to be inclusive of everything; but, it'll give a rough idea into how long I spend doing everything eBay. But, to answer your question, I've got an LED Light, Black Poster Board, and Mini TriPod (Using my iPhone) that I set-up when taking pictures. Pictures are actually the easy part (least for me) because by the time I get to taking pictures, I already have everything sorted / organized; so, it's really just centering card into "frame" and snapping picture. Plus, I also use a lot of "Stock Images" for anything less than $25.00. I have all of these images saved into folders on my computer; so, instead of having to re-take a picture if it's a card that I've had previously, I can just use the one that I've already taken. One of these days, I'll also do a kind of "Day / Week in the Life" Video where I'll give a kind of behind the scenes into how I go about stuff like this - think that would be a cool video!
@@Timeos I went back-and-worth with myself for awhile before finally switching-over to eBay's PWE Service. My biggest "hesitation" was having to pay that much more for postage on those PWE Orders - that additional $0.13 is HUGE when you're talking $0.99 Sales! However, I am SO GLAD that I switched-over to eBay's PWE Service! It's dramatically reduced the time that I spend packaging all of those orders as I'm able to use "Bulk Shipping" on eBay. And, right now, I'd rather save the time vs. money - especially when it comes to those types of orders.
@@OldSkoolPokemon fair enough sir! I’m still starting so the money is helping me build to sustain. Along with this I’m making a program to help with $.99 order to build out the list of orders and print envelopes so i save a good bit of time not writing. @@Timeos O Yeah, if you had asked me a couple years ago which were more important to me (time vs. profit), I would have 100% been with you (Profit over Time)! Definitely more important when you're first starting-out! And, That's AWESOME - That'll make packaging those types of orders so much easier!!! In the meantime, I'd suggest looking into printing addresses directly onto envelope vs. hand-writing everything. That's what I used to do myself - I had Word Document set-up for #10 Envelope Size with Text Box for my Return Address and another for Buyer's Address. So, it was just a matter of copying / pasting each address and printing envelope.
@@OldSkoolPokemon currently I’m utilizing a web application where i just copy paste the return address and the shipping address and it exports the envelope formatted pdf. It helps tremendously turning orders from three to five in 15 mins to close to 30+ in 15 minutes.
Have you made any videos about why you chose free shipping across the board? I love it, but it seems like most eBay card sellers don't do it that way. I'd also be interested in hearing your thoughts about different ways to increase the number of cards in each order. Seems like that is crucial but I'm not sure what would motivate a buyer to order multiple cards.
I don’t have a video on Free Shipping vs. Paid Shipping; that’s definitely a good topic for a future video though! Personally, I’ve tried both and find that I get more multi-card sales with Free Shipping vs. Paid Shipping. Plus, I’ve always felt like people are more apt to purchase my listing over someone else’s listing having Free Shipping even though the actual cost may be the same in both scenarios. As far as increasing multi-card orders, one thing that I’m doing right now that’s working really well is offering 20% Off 3+ Items. I’ve noticed a significant increase in multi-card orders with that promotion! You definitely have to incentivize people to buy more - it’s not always just going to happen naturally.
@@OldSkoolPokemon That's very helpful. Thank you. Is the 30% discount something you can set store-wide, or do you have to do that on individual listings?
I've briefly thought about submitting cards into another "random" grading company that doesn't have the massive following / massive back-log; however, I quickly decided against it just because I really think that doing-so is more-or-less a short-term "gamble". Once the Big 3 Grading Companies get squared-away and back to "normal", I really don't think anyone is going to care about these other "random" grading companies at-all.

@@donnielawson You can set-up to have it across all of your listings or just select listings. It's under Marketing -> Promotions -> Order Discounts.
Have you try comc to send your Pokémon cards
I've briefly thought about submitting cards into another "random" grading company that doesn't have the massive following / massive back-log; however, I quickly decided against it just because I really think that doing-so is more-or-less a short-term "gamble". Once the Big 3 Grading Companies get squared-away and back to "normal", I really don't think anyone is going to care about these other "random" grading companies at-all.
Kermit the frog sells Pokémon?

Offer me enough and you can buy me out of everything! Haha 😂

So in other words, buy a bunch of single card orders from you. Lol jk thanks for the breakdown.
NOOO!!! Hahaha You're Welcome :)
It would be nice if your face was a bit bigger :) Thanks for the video!
Yea, I actually thought of that too when I was editing this video - definitely going to have to make that a bit bigger for the next one!
