Listening in 2023. I'm a Nigerian but there is something about South African native songs that I love. I don't joke with Brenda Fassie and Yvonne's songs
I was around the age of 9 in 1987 when this song used to play in an arcade on the corner of the street that we lived on in Nairobi. It had stuck in my mind but I never knew who had sung the song neither the name of the song. I searched for this song ever since with only the tune in my head and not even knowing the lyrics. Today on 9th August 2023, I heard the song being played in a restaurant and the memories came flooding back. I asked the waiter to check for me the name of the artist and the song. I have listened to it almost 50 times today and I can’t believe that all along this song has always been right under my nose when I was listening to the other Yvonne Chaka Chaka’s hits. She is a legend. Today my decades long search for this song has come to an end.
Wonderful!!! Listened to it twice back-to-back already. New to me; I'm in the US. I thought it was interesting, though, that the DJ was broadcasting from Wichita, Kansas! She gets very good reception!!! 😄
I started listening to this song when i was 6yrs and I'm still listening to the same song, sweet voice, sweet words. Mother, sister may God so bless you
Surely, the ka song was very impressive,I remember mi mum could carry mi on the back as she was going for those village parties, still listening now in 2024 in Uganda
I love this music so much. I had my first dance with my childhood crush back in 1987 and we danced this song. I was only 11 years old and didn't know anything about love but having a girlfriend just for the name was a big thing. If you want to a party and didn't dance with a girl back then boy you are in trouble with your friends.
This was a big hit in 80s iwas 7 yrs then,we used to listen to it on on sanyo radio cassette, then no facebook, twitter, instagram and flying to Countries like USA was for the executive, wasup jamu high crew 1999 the hit squad.
This South African native songs are connected to all African spirit. Regardless of your tribe and language, so long as you are an African you will automatically get touched by the songs. I am from Uganda and these are still trending songs here
This song remind me on the 90s when s December time and all our moms ,dads , uncles (makarapa) where back home from the city n they started to play the music woow in my heart will be like 'mommy is here granny will never beat me again.
