    Trading away Josh Hart and NAW for CJ was one of the first dominoes to fall. Two reliable rotational pieces

    • @ChompyDoc
      @ChompyDoc 21 годину тому +4

      I disagree, sure Josh Hart is really good, but NAW was never gonna pan out here. CJ is quite underrated. I feel they focus on the contract too much and its only 2 years

      @@ChompyDocNAW was promising his first two years, had a terrible third year and was very inconsistent. Definitely would have panned out if Willie Green knew how to make him play the right way, like what Minnesota is making him do giving him a role to play. But the most important thing is Griff didn’t like him. And so just like everyone else that he didn’t like he just dumped him away

    It can’t be a coincidence that so many of the pelicans players get injured year after year. It makes me wonder if they have a weak medical staff because no matter who they trade for or sign, they manage to get hurt after they join the pels

    • @pierceliu9914
      @pierceliu9914 20 годин тому +3

      We used to have a solid medical staff (who worked for the Suns and revived Grant Hill, Penny Hardaway and many other injury prone players career). But the thing is they can’t cure someone who doesn’t show up to rehab sessions. But the FO saw this as an excuse to find a scapegoat and cut the cost so now all the injuries are showing up

    • @theconnaisseur
      @theconnaisseur 20 годин тому +2

      That’s very good insight. It doesn’t surprise me the pelicans as a small market team don’t put enough money into their medial staff and combine that with a handful of injury prone players and you get your healthier guys and injury prone guys getting hurt often

      I wondered about the training staff,too. Could just be bad luck. Should they tank the remainder of the season,it won't matter who they draft if it turns into another barely available player. I would thoroughly inspect the team top to bottom for possible changes. Too much talent and potential unrealized

    I Think Honestly This 2024-2025 Roster Is The Best Pelicans Team On Paper Since AD And Jrue. They Just Haven’t Been Healthy This Season. it’s Hard To Build Around A Guy In Zion Who’s Never Healthy. I Say Just Tank This Season And Get A Lottery Pick In A STACKED 2025 Draft To Build Around Like A Tre Johnson, Dylan Harper, Kon Knueppel, Liam McNeely, Egor Denim, etc.

    From the moment they drafted Zion I was skeptical he would ever translate both because of health and being an undersized big who relied on scoring around the basket. Yes he’s been a good scorer in the minutes he’s played, but even then I don’t think that play-style translates to winning multiple 7 game series.

    The year they traded for CJ, I think they wanted to sneak into the playoffs and prove to Zion they had a decent situation before he signed his rookie max extension. There were plenty of media outlets claiming that Zion should walk, that the team should be relocated, etc. Nickiel was never gonna turn into who he is now on the Pelicans
    Lonzo was hurt consistently on the Pels too and they knew they didn’t want to pay him over 20M a year. Mind you this is over 3 years ago where 20M was more significant
    Dyson was a great defender for the Pelicans, but he was commonly hurt and a poor offensive player, and for the Hawks he’s an elite defender who’s missed games and still can’t shoot 3’s consistently. Dejounte has never been all that injured throughout his career so his breaking his hand game 1 was highly unfortunate

    Seems the GM is good at finding talent but bad at keeping the talent. He kept finding good players but keep trading them away for bigger names that never pan out.

  • @Spl4shy89
    @Spl4shy89 17 годин тому

    No it’s coaching. Injuries are a result of a lack of offensive identity. Pelicans struggle to get easy buckets resulting in 1 on 1 that is easy to defend. Better coach would solve a lot of problems.

  • @jalenjohnson0339
    @jalenjohnson0339 8 годин тому

    The Pelicans are a confusing team but at the same time unlucky.
    They have all of this talent but they can’t stay healthy and all of the pieces don’t fit together
    They going to have to trade BI at the deadline and honestly they should consider trading Zion he just can’t stay healthy and then their the concerns about him staying in game shape.
    There also the questions I guess is Willie Green the right coach for this team and has David Griffin run his course with the team.
    Also they might as well trade or entertain trading CJ
    Because at this point the west is loaded so might as just tank the rest of the season and get a high draft pick and they might get Cooper Flagg

      They’ve been using injuries as an excuse, act like he didn’t have a healthy roster last season and where did he take us? Pretty sure our players and opposing teams are fascinated by the fact that he’s still coaching.

    I feel like the Culture is off and the person who sets the culture is the coach, if Zion wanted to be fat and try to not show up to treatment in Miami, Golden State, New York etc they would not have it. So i definitely think there is a ton of blame on Zion, but as an organization they need to manage their 200-300 million dollar asset better. Thats why I think that when they trade him, he will shine somewhere else. Heat Culture would transform Zion. Golden state with Draymond and Kerr would transform Zion. #FireWillieGreen
