SOAD really doesn't sugarcoat much, they pretty much answer any question as modestly blunt as possible. It's refreshing to see a band say their music doesn't mean anything, especially when it really does.

I may be speculating here, but I suspect Serj's sometimes heavily-accented vocals and strange, guttural pronunciation of words is really just influenced by his native accent & Armenian pronunciation of English. E.g. Listen to "Pictures", "Aerials", "Soil", "Holy Mountains" You can tell his accent has still stuck with him, even though he moved to America when he was 6 years old, slight traces of an accent still remain in his speech. Same goes for Shavo's accent.
I feel sorry for anyone who interviews SOAD. They have to able to handle it. Andrew G is alright at it. Better than Juliya. True System fans will find it funny, others will be dissapointed

I mean P.L.U.C.K. & Holy Mountains are quite obviously explicitly songs about the Armenian genocide but more than that, even Chop Suey's lyrics ("Self-Righteous Suicide" & "Why have you forsaken me?") are influenced by a poem written by an Armenian priest who famously said "Armenia is committing it's self-righteous suicide." Hence why the original title of Chop Suey was "Suicide".
