I have only ever owned Diawa or Shimano poles. From the 11mtr Diawa pro carbon in 1982 various poles in-between including the Shimano super ultegra, the original Diawa connoisseur in the 90,s up to now using the Tournament 16 mtr pro. I still use the number 1 sections for canal fishing and all my silvers fishing . Cant fault them especially with number 1 or 2 elastics for hemp

I bought the Airity pro a week before this came out, I’ll pop into Wickersley for a waggle 👍

Have a waggle. I think they take some beating.

Tom after 4 yrs break due to ill health I'm coming back to fishing..
I did own the Drennan acolyte carp 14.5 m which I found absolutely perfect NEVER LET DOWN EVER...
But since I gave up they brought the pro range out. Question is is it as good as orginal or would in your vast experience recommend looking at something else..
    Budget is about 2k...
    Cheers buddy...

Same experience as you, in early 2024 I decided I would like to get back into fishing again and went on a buying spree for new gear. Final item was a new pole and with a budget of £3K I starting looking at whats around. I ended up at the pole alley at Todber Manor and waved a whole bunch of top end poles about. I had it in mind that I was going to buy the new Maver RXX but had my head turned after looking at other more expensive poles like Airity Pro, Air Z and the super stiff Guru Aventus 900. I was undecided and walked away without buying anything.
Then some weeks later the Connoisseur G90 Pro appeared at a local tackle dealers. At first I didn't take any real notice and had no intention of even considering it because I was going to up my budget and go for the Airity Pro. But the tackle shop also had an Airity Pro in stock. I managed to get both the G90 Pro and Airity outside on some pole rollers and spent a fair bit of time waving them about. I was surprised at how good the G90 Pro was in comparison with the Airity and it's not until you go to the full 16m lengths that you begin to see the slight difference in the pole recovery of the Airity when lifting it. But when you consider the £1600 difference between the two poles and how often I fish at 16m, the G90 Pro becomes the obvious choice.
I have used mine on several occasions now and I am very impressed with it after fishing at 14.5 and even 16m for most of the day at one venue. I fitted the Daiwa PTFE nose cone protectors which adds a bit of extra rigidity to the ends of the sections, but the real upgrade is adding a short no4 section which just makes the pole feel much more responsive and on par with the Airity. The pole is well balanced, nicely finished, feels strong and ships through your hands really smoothly.

I bought the G90 before the pro was launched. Would like to see them side by side to see if there is much difference

I haven’t used the Acolyte Pro range, my best advice would be to head to a pole alley and have a waggle. For a £2k budget, make sure you compare everything to the G90 Pro too though, I think they take some beating.
