I am doing some Large mouth Kalonka Bass fishing this morning. Good ole Houston Tx. I used to call them Lunkers Now now Kalonkas. Long time fan and avid video watcher and Veteran.
Sexy dawg is a dynamite lure! Caught a lot of nice big northerns on the dawg in southern Ontario. Sunrise and sunset those Pike and smallmouth love them! Great video Karl!👍👍🎣
dude.... when you pitch in after that missed frog hit. the stuff of freaking legends. cheers brother! learn something new from you every video.. #strikeking!
I can't get over it. Just watched that pitch after the frog hit. I fish NOTHING. but scum ponds here in OK where im located. the execution on that double play was just insane man. hold on. Watching again... good lord
I never tire of watching you catch these big bass . What I have here is a question . I consider you the Man , and am hoping that you could give me your input on the St Croix Bass X in the 7'11" heavy moderate fast taper as a dedicated frog rod .
Sam, appreciate your support and comments- I have used this rod for pitching soft plastics, it would be a great frog rod as well, match it with braid and you can cover a lot of water with this long rod and still get solid hooksets with the braid.
3/2/2015 10* in Orchard Park, NY CANT Waite to cast my new Escalade Bate caster HD reel for some Small Mouth in the 18 mile creek. You got my fishermen senses riled. Great video and looking forward to more. Please let us know what equipment you are using in a quick mention. Keep on crashing the Large mouth Bass. MPT...
I know exactly what you mean. I have more than enough snag proof. Only problem is my confidence is in Stanley Ribbit Frogs. The bigger frog. Coupled with a wide gap weighted Owner hook. I caught a nice bass last week on it 5.97 pounds. 65 pound braid. She slammed it! Most fun fight I ever had
@@scottb4540 you are doing something good if you are getting walleyes to come up for the frog? Find smaller turns in the river with some rock and/or gravel and you will find the smallies.
TheUnluckyFisherman very true especially when they are very aggressive; I like to 'let the bass tell me' how fast of how slow to work the frog for more bites
+BornToCatch depends on fish activity; if I see a lot of baitfish way back in the pockets that I cannot reach with a pitch or cast, I`ll throw the frog; if a fish misses the frog and its close enough to pitch to, I`ll pick up a soft bait and pitch to the same location
Karl, when using the Strike King Sexy Dog or even the KVD Splash, are you using mono or braid? I prefer braid with a semi loose drag so im not pullin the bait out of the fishes mouth.
Thats exactly how I fish them both, 20 lb Gamma Torque braid on my spinning outfits when using the KVD splash; and 30 lb braid on my casting rod when throwing the sexy dawgs, especially when there is thick weed just below the surface and those bigger bass dig into the grass
I was topwatering with a spook yesterday and i ended up catching a small bass but when i set the hook the back hooks of the spook ended up penetrating the back of the bass's head and it might have hit a nerve or something causing the fish to die. Never had that ever happened to me before til now.
I just went fishing at a private pond with my buddy, the water was much more clear than I thought, we saw huge bass being close to seven pounds hanging around under docks. no matter what lure I tried they won't bite. does anybody know why?
+Sam Phany The Lam maybe they ate already? lol; remember if you can see them, they can see you. Stay back from those fish and make longer casts to them with slow sinking baits like Strike King Zero stick worms
Hollow body frog fishing is my absolute favorite way to bass fish!!! And I am a sucker for collecting frog lures!!! I have more money in frogs than all the rest of my tackle combined!!! And can only fish frogs for maybe 4 months of the year!!! But I love frog fishing!!!

good lord
sometimes we get lucky, lol
Only Karl will go out frog fishing and name the title about frog fishing but still find a way to flip for majority of the time lol
yea man, if there is a way to pitch or flip, I am in!

Use whatever gives you confidence James.
Can you fish a weedless frog for smallies or are the hooks generally too wide gap?
Naw, they can eat frogs no problem if they feel like it.
@@ExtremeAnglerTV ok, what’s your all around go to for them?
I’m fishing the Otonabee river and am mostly getting walleyes
@@scottb4540 you are doing something good if you are getting walleyes to come up for the frog? Find smaller turns in the river with some rock and/or gravel and you will find the smallies.
Hey karl do you use a baitcaster with centrifugal braking system? and if you do how many brakes do you engage when throwing a frog or spook?
no brakes, I release all brake systems for casting and or pitching
how long did it take to learn that?
trial and error and lots of practice
take some of the strong arm out of your cast if you gonna use no brakes
A lot of times when you're using topwater baits the fish will bite at the very end of your cast, as soon as it hits the water. Especially in pads.
TheUnluckyFisherman very true especially when they are very aggressive; I like to 'let the bass tell me' how fast of how slow to work the frog for more bites
I've been watching him for 3 minutes and can already tell he's Canadian eh
yerp, lol.
Could of been a Yooper, eh?!
yerp. ehh!
How do you decide when to throw a frog or to flip when there's pads, grass, and heavy vegetarion?

it does happen. Harvesting smaller bass is your right depending on local/regional regulations on the lake(s) you are fishing;
would you follow with a jig in heavy algae or punch rig? or simply a weedless or Texas rigged creature?
and im talking sloppy slop. heavy algae
texas rigged craws and Rodents work for me

+ExtremeAnglerTV OK thanks, I'll try that next time I go there!
What brand and color frog is he using?
+Jamal Young those were snag proof frogs; using the Strike King KVD sexy frogs exclusively now
OK thank you so much
I caught my PB small mouth on a KVD black and purple sexy frog!!
video. chingón
The same as a torpedo?
Those ardent reels don't sound good
Derek Vandyke agreed, I do not use them any longer.
+ExtremeAnglerTV What reel are you using now?
Field testing some new reels provided by a potential partner
kill the music...plz
we did, lol

We also love frog fishing, cannot get enough of it.
Find the pads the blue gill are feeding under!! snap crackle pop!!!! Then you raise the chance of finding the pig on the frog!
Agreed.
