    This weekend I decided to try for the first time a really famous mountain road here in the alps called "passo Rolle", on the way down I met this really fast BMW GS rider and I decided to try staying behind him, even if, as you can see, it was way harder than I anticipated. Unlike me, the guy clearly knew what he was doing, even when he did a couple of questionable overtakes he always looked 100% in control of the situation, it was amazing to watch him flic that thing around, I didn't lose him only because of traffic and because he didn't push too much on the straights, nothing but respect for the rider. Let me know what you think in the comments, I really appreciate them.
    Italiano:

    Gs’s are amazing but I believe knowing the road it the most important asset

      Yeah knowing the road makes a pretty big difference, but I think being skilled in general makes an even bigger one

    Few people can keep up with a well ridden GS, especially the 1250 and, the 1300 is even quicker. You can get 50+ degrees lean angles on the road and knee on the tarmac very easily. Remember that although it's the rider, the GS makes an average rider look good👍

    • @MatteoBaldi
      @MatteoBaldi  Місяць тому +5

      I believe that if someone is truly good at riding he can be quick on any bike, the way that guy rode that big GS through those tight corners tells me he was definitely skilled.

      @@MatteoBaldithats the example to how a gs should be driven! Most people mention a gs is the bike for unskilled old farts! I myself made them think twice very often!

    • @MatteoBaldi

      Yeah the GS is a very popular bike and in general it's considered as kind of a "dad bike" but there are some GS riders that could outrun most sport bike riders on a mountain road.

      I could say the same for my R1200rt

    I've seen GS riders scrape their panniers in curves. I ride an R1150RT myself, also a pretty good road handling bike, but the bike is better than me, LOL!

    Du schaltest leider viel zu oft......das bringt dich aus dem Rhythmus. Mit der GS fährst du bei 25km/h im 3.Gang.😍😍😍😍😍

    Just notice before - but when became owner of BMW boxer low center engine I was surprised how much I can pass faster the curves if compare him with in line engine cylinders bikes. So try BMW boxer and you can understand why is GS but not only GS faster than you! Can you imagine naked R NINE how fast is it? When seat on his saddle I felt that bike completely is molded to my body and we are working in the one piece....this is most important between bike and rider.....be a one piece on the road...

    I wouldn’t call that chasing a GS I would call it following way behind

      Hahahaha I agree, but "following way behind a BMW GS" doesn't sound very catchy does it?

      @@MatteoBaldi This is why I never rode in groups: the leader will always be riding at a speed that is not natural to me - either because he or she is more skillful or because he or she is more foolhardy. Either way, I'll ride at my own speed - and alone. It's equally fun but it's a whole lot safer.

    • @MatteoBaldi
      @MatteoBaldi  6 днів тому +1

      @@scrumpymanjack yeah when you ride with someone else usually it's either them that are faster than you or you that are faster than them, and in both cases it's more dangerous than riding alone. Ideally you should find someone to ride with that goes at the same pace as you and I think that in that case it is really fun, but unfortunately it's not easy to find someone that goes at your exact same pace.
