I'm looking for solutions for a big dent on my 1976 Airstream Argosy and found your vid. It might take the paint off but I'm hoping to give her a paint job anyway. Gonna give it a try! (Also normally I'm irritated by instructional videos that don't just get to the point but your donkeys are quite charming.)
This fix got the dent out! Rubbing alcohol did not remove the leftover residue of glue though, sadly, I had to use a scraper. Thankfully I'm looking to paint the old girl soon.
Hot glue is a pretty common dent pulling method in auto body work. If you need to pull a wider area it's common to make a jig with a 1x3 or similar with a hole or two to make a pulling point so you spread the pulling force. With cars the nice thing is it lets you remove dents without needing to repaint if the paint doesn't crack.
isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) will remove that hot glue residue
I knew I could wait for the comments to find the best solution! Thanks!
I learned that last year and it's amazing.
Rubbing alcohol is basically magic for making hot glue lose it's hold on anything.
Donkey intermission! 100% here for it.
That lil donkey is so sweet! So is Murphy! A reflection of their owner no doubt. Great job with them.

I documented my own experience. There is a lucky dance with death in the middle. 😆

Not only did I watch till the end, I subscribed.. not what I expected. Thanks 🙏
Plumber's helper might work too. Seen it work on car dents.

Flip a canned air upside down and give it a spray. It will harden right up and you can remove it super easy.
Nice. I wonder how that technique compares to using the suction cup lifters you can get at Harbor Freight for cheap.
I have some! They're super flat and need a nice flat/smooth surface to grab on to. A suction cup wouldn't have grabbed this.
I really didn’t think it was going to work but am plesently surprised! Love the donkey break😁
my thoughts exactly
Wow wow wow. I'm trying this on my International! Big thanks!
How handy! Thank you for sharing! (Gunna try myself….glorping noted)
GooGone mixed with a lil bit of iso will melt that glue off fast.
Copper looks chill..
he is pretty chill, except when he's pestering murphy.
I wanna hang out with Cooper and Murphy.
Well played :D
Cooper and Mervyn 🌻
Denatured alcohol takes it off
I love your donkeys!
