Back in the day SECHSKIES was really popular and originally they have 6 members. They also had sub-units aka Blackies = rapper line and Whitekies = vocal line. They were under DSP entertainment and really went through a lot in that company. You think it’s bad now...it was way worse back then too. Until this day, there were many rumors about why SECHSKIES disbanded. But even the members themselves wouldn’t disclose what happened. They all did their separate things, some sub-units, some going solo with lukewarm results, and some did variety shows. The leader and main rapper Eun Jiwon became really popular on variety shows. So many ppl nowadays knew him from variety shows as well as being a popular past idol.
It wasn’t until Infinite Challenge variety show decided to reunite the members as kind of like a healing episode. They mentioned guerilla concert and to see if YELLOWKIES (sechskies fandom) will show up. The members were hesitant and couldn’t get a hold Ko Jiyong. When they finally got a hold of him, he told them because he’s running his own company and has a kid to raise..he can’t join the guerilla concert. They surprised him and it was actually quite a sweet moment. He even went to the concert in his business suit and performed “Couple” with them. It was an emotional night for all of the fans and members.
FYI: Ko Jiyong is still very much part of Sechskies, but he is inactive due to his job and taking care of his son. However, we can see how he’s doing because he decided he owe it to his fans to at least be on TV with his family. He’s now in THE RETURN OF SUPERMAN Variety Show. A show were celebrity dads spend 48 hours with their kids without the help of their wives. Ko Jiyong’s son is adorable and really talkative and they have mentioned his singing uncles aka Sechskies. I hope one day sechskies will visit jiyong and his kid.
But yes...when sechskies came back they signed under YG and released a track called “3 Words” and it was a song that was composed by Tablo. They re-released “Couple” and then released new songs like “Sad Song”, “Be Well”, “Something Special”, and “Smile”.

Mind Of Mando Yeah KARD is under DSP, DSP still is very ehh to me after seeing things SECHSKIES went through, but all past KPOP idols and even now had to deal with crappy management or shitty treatment. It’s still going on as I type this and it’s very sad. I feel the worst for female idols and the amount of pressure they go through 24/7 and the image their suppose to show or act like..it’s just beyond sad of how female idols are treated. Some come out of it and speak up and become very powerful young men while others kind of let it pressure them (have plastic surgery or look a certain or lose weight and etc.) this is why I love female artists like IU or cheetah, amber, Jessie, and strong female personalities who through music or even through interviews touch in subject like this and say you don’t have to conform to what the public wants you to be. Be YOURSELF. Even with the most influential entertainment companies female artists is in the shadows for the most part. This is why you see a lot of 2nd generation female idols become icons of female empowerment back then until now. There’s nothing wrong with being cutesy and girly, but you can also be bad ass and a woman who can be happy with their unique beauty and can be successful just the way they are.. 2NE1 did that, SNSD grew into that, 4minute, T-ara, brown eyed girls, and Miss A all sung about empowered and independent women.
YG's wife is actually the sister of one of the members. by the time the reunion concert was televised, they were no longer associated with DSP basically so they were up for grabs and being a household name they were really popular. I guess you could say they were on a hiatus but no longer connected with the company. DSP was doing some underhanded things copyrighting their name ( which they ultimately failed) but eventually they were able to copyright it for themselves through YGs help.
sechskies (sounds like zeks skies) was a 6 member group that debut in 1997 and was one of the biggest boy band back in the late 2000. they disbanded in the year 2000 cause of conflict with their company DSP that houses other groups such as KARD and Kara. some members went solo and some went to for a duo of their own but never had any hit songs during the disbandment. the reason they reunited because of the tv show Infinite Challenge (ep 476-478 if your interested in watching it) where the host gather the members and throw a guerrilla concert for their fans. One member of the group decide not to promote with the group because has his own company that he is running and also a family to take care of so he wont have time to promote with his members. some other songs to check out from them is 3 words, couple(1998 version), road fighter, something special, be well.
The ending of the mv from epik high is a teaser for the other single love story ft IU. really good song. i also recommend umbrella ft Younha, Dont hate me, Happen Ending, Rich ft big bang taeyang, and here comes the regrets ft Lee Hi just to name a few of my favorite songs from them.

When they disbanded in 2000, all members quit their company (DSP) all go their own way and all in different companies. The reason of the disband itself was because their work schedule was over the top with also a low pay. They didn't have written contract and was being mistreated (it had been told that the manager was at fault for not managing the schedule right and made them overwork themselves).
From 1997 to 2000, they had to compete with another rival band idol named H.O.T. .The group and each respective fans was totally competing with each other.
Because H.O.T was also popular, Sechskies had to work very hard to compete with them, since they didn't have a lot of budgets and helps from their own company. Their old video clips and confession said that they got a tight budget and all. Whatever job offers that H.O.T and others refused, they accepted it so they could catch up and not behind the other band and keep gathering fans.
They basically worked and flew from one job to another with no free time and less and less interaction between members outside work.
They basically couldn't go on anymore because they were exhausted beyond belief. If you watched their farewell concert later, you could see how sad they were to disband.
After the disband, all members went into separate path. 11:25 The leader Eun Jiwon(orange inner jacket) went into entertainer career and occasional solo, Lee Jaijin (white bluish hair) went solo, Kang Sunghoon(pink hair) went Solo, Kim Jaeduck (brown hair with long shawl on front) and the youngest Jang Suwon (turtle neck on right) form a duo named J-Walk. All of them are pretty much busy with their lives. Some still contact each other. But they mostly lost contact with one of the member named Ko Jiyong. After the dissolve, he want to go into acting but seemed like the company do some pulling and he ended up quitting showbiz world and go back and work in a company and married. He has one child.
In one of the popular Korean variety show, the MCs tried to do a reunion concert for Sechskies and while going through some difficulties and worry that Jiyong might not join the concert out of work and family concern, in the end, the concert ended up successful and Jiyong did join the show even though not fully.
Anyway after the concert, they discuss reuniting and go back as a group again. As you can see, now they come back again as Sechskies under YG Company contract.
All members are in working actively as Sechskies except Ko Jiyong which decline the offer since he has his own company and child to take care of so he just appeared in TV through a show called Superman (daily life of taking care of children which feature his child too). Other than that he didn't participate in Sechskies activities. Although you can see him sometimes showing his love of Sechskies and promoting through singing and dancing Sechskies song with his child lol.
About the rookie thing, I don't think we can call them a rookie, neither do they need to go through it again cause they are already a senior and actually had a lot of experience already. They are actually a 1st generation idols and if you know Super Junior, they are 2nd generation idols. So actually they are older than what you think of. They are on their late 30s. The oldest, the leader is 39 by international age, and the youngest is 37 by international age.
Maybe if we want to make an easy example, it is like seeing Westlife or Backstreet Boys and seeing a One Direction. So Sechskies is like an ancient compared to the young generation idols like for example ASTRO. ^^;

I recommended their old song like Pom Saeng Pom Sa, Road Fighter, Betrayal, Com'Back, Premonition and Couple. Some of the old songs was made into a remake version. Like the one you watched, it is the new remake version of the old Couple.
For new song, I really like 3 Words, Smile, Be Well, Feeling, I Need U.
The song I really really want you to listen is Remember Me. That song was one of the farewell song they sang on 2000 on their last stage together. The lyrics are just sad.
In my honest opinion, Sechskies is that group that song you find in convenience store as a bgm or a record store, or at rainy days while you are laying around and just sipping some hot beverages to warm up. It has kind of oldies feel...
DUDE I HIGHLY recommend the entire album from Epik High - We Have Done Something Wonderful. In my opinion it was the best 2017 album. It has collabs with a lot of dope artists like Lee Hi, Crush, Mino, Simon Dominic, Oh Hyuk, IU... Seriously, ALL the songs are fire. The Love Story song features IU btw and I recommend you to check Here Come The Regrets, featuring Lee Hi (it is in english). Epik High is so dope man I can't even start. They have this sad poetry style that I just love

for me the best 2017 album was AKMU winter, but this one is really close :´)
Couple is their best hit from past that remake 2016 version 😄. Check another songs from sechskies ; three words, be well, sad song, smile, something special etc. If you interested with their old hits : pomsaeng pomsa, com back, reckless love, chilvary, heatbreak etc..
Sechskies Whole album that came out in 2017 "Another Light" is so good But two of my favorite no video songs is "Back Hug" and "Drinking Problem" but really the whole album is great.

Definitely worth checking out Hyukoh's music including "Gondry" "Wi ing Wi ing", "Comes and goes", and "Tom Boy" to just name a few
So glad you reacted to Sechskies they are in my top ten Kpop groups list. One of the members turns 40 this year. They were from YG entertainment. One of the members has some solo work. Old group who had a comeback. Many didn't think they would be successful at a comeback but they were. Love them!

When you said you love the vibe of Sechskies' Couple and it makes you smile, it's actually what everyone say when they hear the song. It's a feel good music and I'm never tired of it. It's Sechskies signature song and has always been popular since release. It also keeps charting again especially in December even though the song is very old. The Korean public love it. 😊
after disbanded, they continue their life. the leader (Jiwon - black hair in this MV) is the most active in entertainment industry, make hiphop albums, but mostly in variety shows. The other work on solo and duo, has business in diffenrent field, study, work in art, etc.

To be honest their albums are amazing, so if you check them out and you like them, i would highly recommend you to go listen to their side tracks on your own! they're really good.
Also, Oh Hyuk has a song with IU, their voices really work well together. It's called "Can’t Love You Anymore" unfortunally there's no MV for this, but you can find the audio here on youtube and also a live performance, idk how safe is for you to react to, but do check it out on your own!

Eun Jiwon started appearing more on variety shows & got a nickname "Eun Choding" because of his crazy personality like an elementary school kid. He started doing solo albums too. First album is more on kpop, but on his 2nd album onwards, he ventures into k-hiphop. This made him received a lot of criticism due to his background of being an idol before. You can listen to this song where he raps about it (Eun jiwon - 8t truck ua-cam.com/video/_hugTS_uwF8/v-deo.html ). He also joined diff groups during his solo career - Movement (khiphop crew project to fight against stereotypes, epik high is in it too) & Clover. He also founded an entertainment agency but had to close it down on 2017. Jiwon is the most active sechskies member during this disband period.

Lee Jaijin's first solo song is titled Double J ( ua-cam.com/video/lAeSDgeCJsY/v-deo.html ). He also tried a tteokbokki business but it's not doing well & in the end had to shut down. Then, because of his passion towards art, he became a painter artist & held exhibition under the name Lee Hanzo (he wants people to take his art seriously & not bring his idol image that's why he change his name).
Meanwhile when the others were debuting as a solo artist, Jang Suwon & Kim Jaeduck formed a duo called J-Walk. One of their song is called Frappuccino ua-cam.com/video/hNFj9Xn-PfI/v-deo.html . Aside from the duo, Jaeduck is also a director of an entertainment agency (TN Nation Entertainment) & Jang Suwon opened up a restaurant "Yummy Kampong".
The inactive member, Ko Jiyong, became a model. He also tried to ventures into acting, but it is believed that due to DSP's interventions, it is hard for him to start acting even tho he had entered a very famous acting agency at that time. In the end he choose to leave the entertainment world, further his study, & now become a CEO of his company.
With all the diff path that each member had taken, the glue that keep them at least be connected is Jang Suwon. He's the one that kept in touch with all the members regularly & he's also the one who kept mentioning about reuniting as sechskies. Thanks, Suwon! 😁

As far as Sechskies, in 97 they debuted as 6 members. Former member Jiyong left and works and is doing that family life (his son is adorable btw). But current members: Jiwon (leader, main rapper), Jaejin (main dancer, rapper), Jaeduck (rapper, dancer), Sunghoon (Main Vocal), Suwon (Vocal, maknae). They got back together and did a reunion concert and signed with YG. They’re actually all insane and since they know so many is the MCs in Korea and are older so more comfortable, they’re known for their savage moments 😂😂 definitely check out their whole weekly idol, it’s one of the favorites. Jaejin the one who did the high note is actually YG’s brother-in-law lol.

In YG, Sechskies still the senior to all the idol section as they debut earlier. SK follow the seniority in debut to industry rather than other thing.
Fun Fact: The high note member is brother in law of YG. That one major reason why YG resign with them after the success of TV show union. Beside that, if they want to continues to promotes as Sechskies (all of them want this), its not comely to signed on with other entertainment company.
There is a separate MV for love story and it’s feat. IU so you should definitely react to it! Also one of the members from SECHSKIES is YG’s brother-in-law and so he signed them. But they don’t become trainees again since they were already trained! :)
