- Sony A7C II, it's not an A7 IV we swear. A7CR, totally worth making, it's not an A7R V but worse. 16-35mm f2.8 GM II is a strange upgrade. Sony went to the recycling factory again. Best camera in 2023? Smallest full frame camera compared to the Canon R8. R8 is still much lighter though, that must hurt Sony.

The only complaint for the A7iv was the small grip so logically Sony made it smaller and rereleased it as a new camera and now users will need another accesssory grip. Marketing

a7iv in a smaller box but not betterer than the a7siii. That was the easiest design meeting of all time.
The a7iv wasnt supposed to compete with the a7s3 (nor is the a7c2)... megapixels being 33 by default is "better" along with the price being cheaper but if you want to shoot video technically the FX3 is better than the a7s3

The most comical part of this is that the big deal about these cameras is simply that they're smaller- but they add a functionless grip in case it's...you know...too small. If Sony wants to impress us, make smaller, high quality lenses, not smaller bodies. If you want a smaller system, go APS-C; shrinking the body and attaching big lenses isn't helpful.
Sony just lets you pay 3000 bucks for a firmware now, and you get a camera body with it 😂

1. A7cR is a joke because if you are a professional get the A7R5 because it's an investment. And if you are a hobbyist why the hell would you need a 61mp sensor. Get one of the hybrid ones.
2. A7Cii should cost 1800, considering S5ii is slightly cheaper than FX30 in my country.

I solved most of these issues by buying a not-Sony camera :)
What annoys me most, is that only you raise this major issue. All the other UA-camrs keep giving huge props to Sony. Glad I switched to Nikon. :) At least they support their cameras. Honestly though, I don't notice any tangible difference between the cameras on 4K for UA-cam.
I have seen two other prominent UA-cam channels say something, but it was in a one-off video. Most of these guys seem to either have the funds to buy any camer they want or are Sony ambassadors. They are not going to bite the hand that feeds them. The abandonment of the simple to upgrade features on the a7s iii is deeply disappointing and disturbing to me as an owner.

The lens mount on the Sony A7s is a major handicap. Sony essentially created a chastity cuck cage for its sensor.
I wanna gut a compact full frame and jam it into a diy 35mm film camera back.
I can’t find any as is parts only compact full frame. So I thought maybe you would know what full frames have small guts that might be good candidate to gut. I’m sure I can cut up the boards, solder wires, trick into not freaking out that it has no lens or body or screen etc. and rig the button into a modded ae1 or k1000.

This hilarious part is with a lens, the footprint of the camera is virtually no different. Anyone with you or that sees you on the street might as well be seeing an A7IV dangling from your camera strap

Hey Kasey, with cameras getting worse over time instead of better, is there any better beginning vlog setup than a used ZV-1 mk 1? Can pick one up in Like New condition for less than 500 usd, seems to be the pinnacle of value right now for a true newbie. Got a cc t-shirt for my birthday and love it btw. PetaPixel just counted how many bodies Sony currently sells. They counted 19. Granted several are about to be discontinued, but not yet officially. Fuji has condensed their lineup. Sony has done the opposite.
My theory for why Sony can't stabilize their sensors because the E mount was designed with APS-C in mind and they didn't start doing full frame until the E mount was already several years old, so now the mount is just barely wide enough to accommodate a full frame sensor and doesn't allow any wiggle room for IBIS. That's why they have to do digital stabilization which requires cropping and makes you film at fast shutter speeds since it doesn't do anything about motion blur caused by camera shake.
That doesn't explain why their APS-C bodies also have crap IBIS though, so I don't know.
Sony APSC cameras also don't has good IBIS. So, I think, that problems not in mount size, but in patents.

The rant about the LCD screen is so true, a Canon SL2 has more LCD pixels than a A74/a7cii. I remember when a friend of mine saw the LCD of my SL2 5 YEARS ago he couldn't believe it as his a7sii lcd was terrible in comparison. Its really crazy how they repackage these cameras and the masses fall for it so easily every single time.
@@Dar1uszHow did you get 2.3m for the back LCD resolution? I checked the specs and it says only 1.036m which is less than the Canon SL2.
@@Dar1usz im just talking about the LCD screen, nothing else. its obvious the a7cii is way better than a SL2. nowhere in my comment did i compare the two cameras specs, just the LCD screens. Also you are wrong with the 2.36M dots. Thats the EVF, not the LCD.

My biggest disappoinment is the lack of dynamic stabilization. I seriously can't see a reason other than segmentation, like you mentioned, of why it's not in these cameras. Also, I can't believe the new 4d screen isn't at least on the a7CR. I think I'm going to go for the zv e1 and I'll upgrade my a7c for one of these later down the line at a discount for photo.

You did not mention the upcoming Sony A7CS which is a smaller A7S iii with a newer faster processor and all the latest firmware updates/features. It will cost one-third less than the A7S iii and is being released to make the selling price of used A7S iiis drop.

I wonder when they'll discover copper... Also, where did they get those lousy screens? What bugs me is not the resolution but the quality of the screen. The screen on my old 600D is miles better quality than the crap they put on their recent ZV-E10 and a bunch of other cameras. Outdoors you can't judge exposure at all: if you set it to Sunny Weather, the camera just blows out the image on the screen while slightly increasing the brightness. I haven't seen magic tech like that since before the smartphone era.
