Not a chorus/vibrato guy whatsoever but this'll be the one, thanks to you. When I look for demos you're in the top 3 and this is probably my favorite demo you've ever posted. Don't stop!
Beautiful demo, thank you
Beautiful!
Really lovely playing and great demo!
Amazing playing as always! Love the Caroline pedals
Best demo I've seen on this and detailing what you can do with the controls. Thank you!!
Love the chords and spongey warm crunchy chorus at the end.
great playing!!
One of the best video reviews for a pedal I’ve ever seen. Straight to the point, making very clear what each knob does individually. Most importantly, some very tasteful playing to perfectly exhibit the sound. Subbed 👍🏻
Seriously can't get enough of this channel.
nice work man. beautiful sounding pedal as well.
Great review! Stoked to get mine in the mail soon!
Thanks so much! I think you’re gonna love it 😄
So great as always man! The open tuning stuff sounds so nice with this pedal. Can't wait to get my hands on one!
You’re gonna love it! It’s really blown me away
Each time, I come for the chords. Very nice review.
So glad you like it! 😄
Awesome pedal , great demo - love it as always Ian!
Thanks so much man! It means a lot coming from you
Crushed it, dude. I'm literally in love with my Somersault.
Thanks so much man! I’m seriously still blown away by this pedal. It’s a special one
Incredible demo 👍🏼
Wow this pedal is amazing and just beautiful art to look at. I just bought three new pedals but I have to get it soon. I got the JHS bender, walrus audio SLO reverb, and the MXR Timmy. Finally getting a huge pedal train together.
I just got this pedal and it is really versatile.
lots of subtle stuff, to way spaced out
I approve of all this fantastic goodness.
Gotta love your open tuning riffs Ian - they sound great and are so uniquely yours.
Gonna try apply these to my demos where I can, collector//emitter style ( ;
Thanks so much man, I really appreciate it! I’m always blown away when people say my playing is uniquely me, especially other great players like you
T
I agree, your playing and presentation are your own thing. I bought this pedal two days ago because of this video and playing.
yeah, been screwing around with open e in standard lately, it's really nice for those math rock tones yk?
I’m sure you’ve heard this but god between you and Knobs I am going to be broke forever
Dropping through sky
Through the glass of the roof
Through the roof of your mouth
Through the mouth of your eye
Through the eye of the needle
It's easier for me to get closer to Heaven
Than ever feel whole again
Jukka Ollikainen ....whoa....what is this ? Beautiful
@@neoaureus Robert Smith circa 1989. All the best from Finland. Stay safe and take care!
Jukka Ollikainen ...thanks...shall look him up ! You too!
It’s getting to the point where, even after I probably do buy one myself, I may well keep coming back to this video just bc the music’s so good 🤷🏼♂️❤️ I’ve probably watched this a dozen times now lol/smh Excellent work, friend.
Thanks so much, it means a lot!
Great demo as always, dude. 👍
Thanks man!
7:50 I'd buy it for that sound alone
I saw one of these guys in a local shop here in Nashville and I knew it was special.
It's so special! And I'm very jealous of all the great guitar stores in Nashville. I wish I lived there
collector//emitter come on over!
I'm only a couple minutes drive away, what store has them in stock?
Noice playin my guy
It took me a few months to save up and find the right deal on a 2nd hand one but I just bought this pedal. I fell in love with it because of your review! Thank you!
I'm not a chorus guy, but for few second, I listened to something mybloodyvalentinesque thing and my heart opened itself. Good job Caroline, good job collector//emitter
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Andy Somers 🤠
That slapback tho
Great as always! I noticed that you recently started using the Universal Audio Ox. Are you no longer recording a mic'd amp and just using the Ox now? I am pretty interested in picking one up myself and would love to hear your thoughts on it.
Yeah, I’m fully using the Ox’s cab sims now because I’ve moved to an apartment in the city vs a house in the suburbs so I can’t always be as loud. I’m really impressed with the quality! It makes it super easy to record and the sims almost sound like the real thing
@@collectoremitter awesome. I also live in an apartment, so I get the whole volume thing. I have just never found a loadbox/cab sim that really did it for me. The Ox has been on my radar but its so expensive, but after hearing what you have been able to do with it, I may just be able to dish out the cash for it now.
That has to be Lake Wakatipu in the background
It may be, I’m not sure! I get my backgrounds from stock footage sites haha
@@collectoremitter I believe it is! Amazing to see home and hear these awesome pedals
Closest thing to knobs were gonna get
Sorry, I know this is an older one of your vids, but I was curious about the havoc switch. When it maxes out, does it completely max out, or just to the height of the knob? Great playing man.
It completely maxes out the speed, no matter where the knob is set
Great vid! Does this have random modulation or strictly uniform?
No random, just triangle or square. Square can get kinda unusual though
4:47 Sonic Youth has entered the chat
Great! Any volume loss on the vibrato setting?
Not that I’ve noticed, and none with the mix in the center either!
Interesting, it's actually got some univibey qualities. nice demo!
While I love this pedal, there are two major considerations I think guitarists with established pedalboards should heed: 1) the Somersault is most effective when placed after drive, because its Offset knob is essentially a delay, and so putting the Somersault before distortion can get messy very quickly (because delay before distortion). If you're into that, go ahead, but I find that this pedal already sounds plenty thick on its own. This led me to experimenting with the pedal after the preamp, whereupon I found that 2) the Somersault does not take line level well. It's been a while since I tried this, so my memory is a little hazy, but one of the settings on the Bright switch causes some very unpleasant signal noise when doing this. If this happens, switch to the other setting and the problem should go away. These shouldn't be issues for most buyers, just putting it out there that the pedal's limitations can cause some players issues depending on their signal chain.
Firstable sorry about my english and thks for the demo. I wanna ask u something: is the pedal sounding alone or there are some kind of light reverb through
It's just the pedal in this video! Because you can control the chorus's delay time, it does have a bit of a spacious sound to it
@@collectoremitter thank you so much. U make me decide to buy it jajaja.
The 2:17 mark still gives me chills.
So good! What tuning is this?
Thanks so much! It’s in EAEABE like a lot of my videos
Not really into chorus but this is something else.
It might be the one to change that for you 😉
This or the woozy? I already have a shallow water but want a good consistent chorus. I love dialing in cool sonic shapes though. Anybody have any recommendations? I'm also interested in the mood and some drolo stuff but sort of want a chorus swiss army knife.
I would say this is better for standard chorus tones and the Woozy is better for wild sounds. But both are amazing pedals!
Do you prefer this or the Siren/s?
It's so hard to say. I might prefer Siren(s) because of that extra delay time on the lag knob, which is my favorite chorus sound
Thats the record of my first high school girl friend.. do you think this pedal excels at 80's Cure type stuff?
I think so! It's maybe not as thick as a CE-2, but the Cure mostly used a CH-1 and this has a very similar tone to that in my opinion
@@collectoremitter thanks.. your playing is sick!
That slap back was insane.. I wonder if that's the tech it was originally done with.. you know like how chorus was really a rotary effect.
Anyway big sub!
Somersault or the Julianna?
✨😅
This is a great demo. Until 8 minutes in when you lost touch with reality. :)
I just contacted my alien friends 😜
Why do you say "faux flanger" ? It's a real flanger. The only difference between chorus and flanger is the amount of depth. They're both just a vibrato (modulated delay) mixed in with the dry signal.
Will it shoegaze!?
Good idea, I'll add it to the list!
Why why ....they should have put an expression pedal in....
