for some clarification: tankhun is the oldest child and was the old heir before he was kidnapped and too traumatised to continue working/being the heir. kinn being next in line was named heir and took over the job after the ordeal

There's actually a japense bl where the plot is a "straight" character gets stuck in a bl universe where all the men are queer and he tries to navigate it without falling in love with a guy!

I think the English title is man who defies the world of bl. There's two seasons, I believe. As a heads up though, it's very Japanese physical comedy big acting vibes so there might be some adjustments if you aren't used to the genre!

In the novel the bar owner Jay Yok (or jay Jade) is trans, which is mentioned several times. Thankun actually calls her a katoey (lady boy) which she finds insulting. But when she finds out Thankun is kinn's brother she is terrified but Porsche tells her it is fine. I love that while the series doesn't bother to mention this about Jay Yok, they still cast a trans actress, Sprite. I love her character ❤

Fun fact, Jeff Satur, who plays the younger Theerapanykun brother, also auditioned for the role of Tankhun, but says he was beat out by Tong because of the dancing. He is also the writer and singer of WHY DONT YOU STAY, the song that is playing during the kiss scene.

This is my all time fave as well!! It came at the right time for me when all i’ve been exposed to are BLs set in high school or college.
BL is a genre where there really are many gays, but it continues to be in our world. the difference is that Thailand is not a Catholic country but a Buddhist country and does not have the same sense of sin, despite the fact that until the 70s it was a crime to be gay in the country
Jeff Satur! This was the series that introduced him to a LOT of BL and music fans. And I’m so happy it did!! He’s also going to be producing and starring an upcoming show Happy Ending. There’s only one trailer out for it, but the quality behind it is so engaging!

He's also in 'Strangers From Hell' another great kdrama from 2019 a thriller, horror, psychological, drama.
And lots more, he is a great actor, really charismatic! And seem to be a cool person irl too.

@19:40 Kinn's bodyguard Big is VERY loyal to his boss, and put himself in the line of fire to save him ( in the tunnel scene in episode 1) . So Kim's allusion to love songs makes sense, if Big has a (big) crush on his boss.

With BLs, it’s kind of always assumed they are gay but most usually still show the struggles of being queer. With KinnPorche it’s less about the queer struggles and more about the mafia and how people in that industry understand “love” as a concept mixed with understanding yourself within that. At least that’s the way I see it.
I love KinnPorche as well because Porsche is bi (having scenes in the show both with women and men) which does not happen often in BLs. You are either gay or straight most of the time.
Please do be warned because there are some issues with consent later on. It was “toned down” for the series which was adapted from a book but it’s still there.

I don't condone violence, murder or any kind of abuse, unfair treatment or revenge, violent revenge etc in real life BUT I mainly watch really bloody, action, thriller movies and love the ones with psychopathic serial killers/murderers, crime and/or mafia and revenge stories etc. basically most things violent except for horror and also war and some other too realistic depictions (it depends on the tone).
So it's a big, huge difference in condoning it irl and enjoying watching it in dramas and movies and books.

But, I personally wouldn’t have paused a video to say that when it’s obviously fiction. If I were watching a news story or a documentary or something and that happened, sure.

@@Admete69 I took it just as a funny disclaimer by him since they have been quite into all the violence.
They have watched pretty violent, abusive dark stuff in series and movies before so I think they will really enjoy KP a lot.
I think the best thing is just to leave them to watch and find out on their own.
They know it's fiction and mafia life and no normal healthy relationships.
BUT I see so many BL fans in the comments that are writing spoilers and things that might effect their perception and expectation on what is coming and I really think it's unnecessary.
They know what they got into and that it will be lt's of dark stuff, murder, different forms of abuse etc.
I hope people stop giving away the plot and hints about what's to come.

I watched KP on my own and then I watched many/most people reacting to it.
And I rewatched the first 6(?) episodes after they started reacting to it both for fun but also so I know what they see in each ep so I don't accidently give any spoilers.
one thing to keep in mind for KinnPorsche in particular that imo makes for a more enjoyable watch is to just remove logic and reality and real life ethics and just fully submit to the camp, fun, silly, dramatic, over the top mafia, soap opera vibes. especially the next ep - we all know what is morally unacceptable irl and this show isn't for a below 18 crowd for a reason. it's a genuine fun show so I hope you enjoy even if it doesn't follow traditional western show genre/structure/logic :) love the recaps so far!

Off, Gun, First and Gawin were so good in it, they knocked it out of the park. And I liked that they chose Gun to be the hero in this very gritty and realistic show.
For making babies, there's the Omegaverse in yaoi. 😉 So far the only Omegaverse show is "PitBabe", but nobody got pregnant in it. Just the usual Alpha-Omega stuff.

Hopefully, you guys get into more BLs. Cutie Pie is a favorite and a very popular BL. It produced one of the most famous BL couples, ZeeNunew. Even their off-screen chemistry is amazing.
Since you guys asked about making babies, theres a Japanese Omegaverse anime called Tadaima Okarie. (I probably spelt that wrong) its a slice of life, healthy established relationship, parenthood about addressing generational trauma.

@@AgustinaRD5 the book doesn't straight up tell you what happens...it is HEAVILY implied that Tem does sleep with Time multiple times, but Tay (Time's boyfriend) doesn't know. Tay knows Time cheats a lot, but he doesn't find out about Tem specifically. Tay is actually really nice to Tem, but Tem acts scared and ashamed around Tay. It's really sad. A lot of fans of the novel were hoping for a poly relationship for the three of them before ALL THE EVIL happened with the authors. Sidenote: I read the books online for free and refuse to support the authors by buying an official copy.
Also, right before we switch to the last scenewith Kinn and Porsche, we see Time (who is the "player" in the couple Time/ Tay) slumped on the bar bench, asleep, with his arm around Tay ( Porsche 's Uni friend, the "Iliked your vibe from across the bar" guy) . Very telling.
I would advice you to start saying in your videos that whilst you appreciate getting clarifying comments on an episode, then please no spoilers for future things. Otherwise people WILL start dropping spoilers, especially around the last episodes. I have seen it happen on just about every reactor account, unless it's clearly asked not to. Still be careful. Some people can't differentiate between info and spoilers, or how you might want to see/discover things for yourself, unless you make sure to tell them.
Do it maybe both in video, and in each of your video written comment.
Even when KinnPorsche aired the first time, there were plenty of people who had read the novel this is based on, who just HAD to debate everywhere what may be coming, and how the series was different from the original novel, so would this or that still be happening. It was a mine field to avoid spoilers.

Btw, the series is only loosely based on the (not great) book of same name. Most plot points are the same, but the story is still changed to the better, for the series.

Also you kind of get the gist of KP in ep3 which is, it makes you swing from one extreme emotion to another in back to back scenes, sometimes even in the same scene! One scene you are deeply disturbed and next scene is full of fluff. One scene you feel sad for one character and in seconds you are LOL at another. One moment is pitch black with violence, next one is sunshines and rainbows. And in between you try to follow the plot and action! And at the end of each episode, you are left with "wtf happened now?!" Normally, it shouldn’t work (and it might not for some) but it works somehow since it has become this phenomenon. I think it is mostly about characters and actors, you feel so strongly about them, either in a very good or very bad way😅
1:00 well not really, I feel people have given you the wrong idea. It is often multiple gay or non-straight characters and in some or many BL's it can be like normal BUT many or most BL's just follow a couple or a group of gay characters that are friends in a otherwise pretty similar/the same world/universe that we actually live in so there are straight people mostly around them and homophobia etc etc.
You see lots of people struggling to accept their sexuality and families being against their relationships etc. especially because of east asian family structure, culture and traditions and inheritance, expectations etc etc. that can be very conservative (sorry eng is not my first language and I can't find the right eng words).
It depends on the BL of course but for me who prefer the more realistic non sci-fi BL's it's often not like everyone is gay and homophobia and struggles living in a more conservative society are there.
But also definitely often multiple gay and non-straight characters and more than in reality but it's not a universe with just gay people.
It's a spectrum, really . Which is why BL can become so addictive so fast ; it' s almost impossible not to hit on a show that will resonate with you, and fulfill your needs ( and sometimes, your kinks)...

There are some beautiful scenes in this drama and everyone has already warned you guys that there are some really messed up ones as well. I absolutely love KinnPorsche but it is the only drama that has been an internal struggle at times. That being said I hope you guys keep loving it too🤗

I would say one can define that it's a BL show when a gay relationship/romantic story is the main thing or at the forefront. But since Asian BL, especially Thai BL, has become such a huge succes these past 3-4 years, the genre is rapidly developing. Now under this term there are being made all kinds of stories and genres, everything from vampire to supernatural, to realistic drama and political stories. What I love is that we often have this genre where everybody is gay/queer, but it just so happen to be a mafia drama as well for example. And where straight stories has been the norm in every genre before, I love that BL flips that now.
Generally I would put BL shows in two large groups. One where everybody is gay and it's not a problem, and one where being gay is dealt with. Like several Thai BLs deals with the fact that gay people doesn't have equal rights and up until a few months ago they couldn't even marry. Yay for Thailand legalising same-sex marriage this year! There's a lot of interesting talk about how BL shows have been this Soft Power to shift public oppinion on gay rights in Thailand :D :D

I am loving your reaction to this series. I've seen it several times and I love it. You've started on one of the best Thai BL productions, but there are heaps of really great BL shows from Thailand, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and China. I can't wait to see your reaction to ep 7. The best thing about all BL shows from Asia is the natural way that each character falls in love. It's never about being gay; it's about falling in love with someone who happens to be a man. Keep enjoying, this is a great show.

This show is how I found out about Jeff Satur (the youngest mafia brother, faceless as of this episode). Jeff is an incredible artist and I am so glad I looked into his music. Obviously the song at the end of this episode "Why Don't You Stay?" is absolutely gorgeous, but for whoever is reading this comment and you haven't heard Jeff's other songs, you really should check them out. Here are a few of my favs; "Stranger", "Fade", "Dum Dum", "Lucid", "Black Tie", and "Hide".

While KinnPorsche is a wild BL to start with, it's fun to see you both think through the genre conventions. This song has two versions -- Thai and English. You can listen to English one (or even better to both😏). The interesting part is that Jeff (the singer) is also a part of the cast so you'll see him in the series too😉

I see you were a little confused about the brothers, so here is a quick explanation:
The main family consist of three brothers:
1) Tankhun, the oldest brother. Excentric, was the heir of the family until he was kidnapped and traumatized. Still lives in the family "home" since he became afraid of going outside
2) Kinn, the middle child. Closed off and serious, took over as the heir for the main family after Tankhun was kidnapped
3) Kim, the youngest. Mysterious, left the family and lives on his own, still has some ties to them
Tankhun and Kim are not involved in the family bussiness, but are still taken into account for matters related to the family itself or it's members.
And as a little extra I'll add the minor family, which has two brothers:
1) Vegas, the oldest. Cunning, heir to the minor family
2) Macau, the youngest. He is just a little shit

BL is less "Everyone is Gay" and more "This is a World Where Homophobia Doesnt Really Exist" (of course, this isnt true for ALL BLs). Its a form of escapism where you dont have to worry about that. Where a love story can just BE a love story. And of course, more people end up being queer in the narrative, and the narrative ends up being queer as a whole because these characters live in a world they don't need to worry about it.
*Also, I saw someone else recommend The Man Who Defies the World of BL and I heavily, HEAVILY recommend it. It's HILARIOUS and toothachingly sweet

Thank you for your channel ❤ i don't know if you plan to react to any other Thai BLs, I just want to mention a few in case? Not Me - the first thai bl I saw with a pride parade and political perspective (its about vigilantes), Bad Buddy - in contrast this is set in a world where homophobia doesnt exist but sexuality is still addressed so people have labels (its very rom com/modern romeo and juliet and shows off a lot of the big tropes in thai bl romcoms, as well as also having story beats with one with a secret crush in high school and the other not realizing they're bi until college, that is very relatable to my experience growing up). 3 Will Be Free is a thai drama with a poly couple, a bisexual, a gay man, and a straight woman, which is also an interesting perspective, and like Kinnporshe is kind of a crime thriller. There's some thai girl love dramas out now, GAP the Series was the first big one, there's probably people mentioning some of their fave bl and gl recs.
