- An Oklahoma judge dismisses the reparations lawsuit filed by the last three known survivors of the 1921 "Tulsa race massacre",
The three had been locked in a years-long court battle against the City of Tulsa and other groups and officials over the opportunities TAKEN from them when the city's Greenwood neighborhood was burned to the ground---- killing hundreds----and leaving thousands homeless.
The City of Tulsa requested the lawsuit be dismissed with prejudice --noting in part that ---"SIMPLY being connected to a historical event does not provide a person with unlimited rights to seek compensation from any project in any way related to that historical event." -- Apparently--- the judge agreed.
Damario Solomon-Simmons, the attorney representing the survivors, stood in the Historic Vernon A.M.E. Church, the only standing black-owned structure from the riots, .... saying he's NOT done fighting for justice......

How is it and injustice? Slavery ended in 1865, this is 2023. Black Americans have made immense advancements, and blacks are better off than they ever were. Reparations are good in theory yes, and I'm well aware of the pain and suffering African Americans have faced, and still face in some places today, but we have to be realistic. Reparations would cause the $32 trillion national debt to skyrocket at a time with inflation and a weakening dollar.

If "Legal Standing " is a requirement for the case to be valid, the judge is simply stalling hoping these elderly ladies will expire, nullifying the case. The judge is own the side of the terrorist that did the crime.

The courts fear that giving into any sort of reparations opens the door for a full addressing of the treatment of Blacks in this country. And it would; as it should. Starting with slavery, leading and up though Jim crow, urban renewal, slum clearance, concentrated poverty, war on drugs(black people), and now gentrification. That is what we are owed, and it’s time we start preaching this history to ourselves and others.
