Blue Boy is a pseudonym for the Scottish DJ, Alexis 'Lex' Blackmore.
The single Remember Me peaked at #8 in the UK Singles Chart in February 1997. The single also went to number two on the American dance chart.
The track is built around two samples from the 1973 live version of "Woman of the Ghetto", a 1969 soul song by Marlena Shaw, originally recorded for her album The Spice of Life. Near the end is the line: "Remember me? I'm the one who had your babies", in reference to African-American maids raising white children for little pay.

This was my daughter's song in it's time, sadly she passed two years ago I'll always love that jam, thank you
Amazing how a certain record connects to someone personaly, personal and opinions differ for everyone, your daughter had good taste 😊 RIP young lady ❤
I´m sorry for your loss. But be sure, we all are immortals, there are only bodies dying......
BIG hugs mister, and sorry for your loss :(
RIP to your lady man ,,,, be strong ;)
RIP
Met this british woman back in 97, I remember she used to play this song, got stuck on me to this very day, damn it ... I honestly loved that woman, sadly it did not become anything. I often wonder how she is doing, hope she got a nice life, family and so on ... wish the best on her.
the sample of this song is marlena shaw singing "woman of the ghetto" live at the montreux jazz fest, this same track is used by st germain in "rose rouge",
I'm 72 and I jam to this every day.
Super 👍
Good taste 😊🫂

This song has been living rent free in my head almost 30 years. And I’m fine with that.

This track was played liberally by the DJs in so many underground deep house clubs in LA in the late 90s. Such good times!!! 🎶❤️
this song has 4 years than me and still awesome
Me and my older sister love this totally classic awsome tune
I got tired of all these rappers from today. This is real music for the soul and now I am sitting here, waiking up to Blue Boy
GOT...Get is more like it.
These Covers & samples are meant to pay Tribute 2 & not to make things your own. Do it right..or don't do it. Gowa head Blueboy ❣️

ive only been alive for 30 years but this feels like i heard it back in the 70s
When you stumble upon a song that you haven’t heard in 25 years, and it brings you back to that moment in time that you forgot and reminisce fondly.
Marlena shaw is a very old soul kudos to her for building such a masterpiece 🤌
Yes, I'm Listening in April 27th 2024.. Bring it on 🎉
I remember me, listen to this timeless Classic, and Passing out because the Zaza was too good with this vibe
1997, 18 years ago. This song is old enough to buy a drink now.

Summer of 1997, final year at high school. This banger takes me right back to a simpler and happier time!
We were younger but I don't think they were simpler times at all.
Permissions granted 🙏🙌⏩ Most High Source energy
I was 17 in 1997 having fun with my high school friends on a day trip to Mont St Michel, France. This song played on the radio. I said "I loved this tune" and the coolest dude of the class replied "me too" with a smile. One of the best days of my life.
This just came up on my playlist... I feel like I just opened a present. Amazing song.
Never ever
The other day I was on my way home and a girl behind me was playing this song on her phone and really, really feeling it. She almost started to dance in the middle of the street. It made me so happy.
I had never listened to this song before, and forgot about it until today, that UA-cam recommended it to me. I wish I was more mystical so I could talk about the universe sending me signs through music and stuff, but honestly, all that came to mind was google spying me through my phone. I hate this dystopian era.
I really enjoyed the song, though.
I cant put how big a smile i got from reading that down. But still wanted u to know. All bout the right frequency
Maybe the universe is using Google to communicate to us!?
Nice story , you have a choice of looking on the bright side . Great toonz like this help us get through .peace .X
🐂💨💨💨💨💨💨💨
im always the girl dancing on the street while having her headphones on and i do love this song, maybe u saw me (or another version of me)
Synchronicity comes in many forms tbf. Everything is connected and good things happen to positive thinkers. I can't explain all the suffering, so we have have to take any joy we get and this sounds like you deserved to hear it, regardless of your phone.
I’ve been trying to find this song for 10+ years! Couldn’t remember the lyrics, just been singing the “ging-ging” bit to shazam, friends, family. No app or person had a Scooby what I was on about and it was so frustrating until today. Best feeling finding a song you’ve been looking for for YEARS 😭
I have been looking for this song forever and finally found n it because of the Pima ad.
This is one of those classic late 90s tunes where you just want to grab a beer, bop along with the beat and quietly speak out the lyrics. It has that real soothing feel. Good times :)
Heck no, makes me want to bang the whole dance floor!
I've been searching for the name of the song and artist for 26 years. I was 10 when I first listened to this song and I instantly loved it. Thank God for UA-cam, it brings back past. ❤
Congratulations brother, love hearing stories like this.
Would you care to walk me through what happened when you pressed play on this, and the feelings that came up? Blessings 🙏🏼
Dam youre young
Hello remember from last night crazy 👽👽
I always come back to this banger.
25 years of age, and it still rocks...love it
SAme
I was playinh it on my phone on the bus last week and i could see a few youngsters pricking up their ears..whats this??thye looked surprised to hear such good music.
Age is irrelevant to good music. So is time
Good is good.
45 years of age, and i still rocks.........love the 90's !
Moi
Pure gold. Those of us who were in our teens or 20s in the 1990s, we had the best music without doubt. We are a unique generation. This is in the top with beats international dub be good to me. Love the 1990s.
and at festivals or gigs no one was on their phone all the time so you just had beer/drugs/dance.
Im with you there fella. I strongly advise you to check out Dub be Good to me by Faithless! I thought the original could never be bettered! Have a listen and tell me what vibes you feel! ua-cam.com/video/uhpUEm4tcJo/v-deo.html
Maxi Jazz, Dido and the funkiest dub!
We certainly didn't. We were born about 20 years too late for that. Lol. But there was a few golden tunes in the nineties, and this was one. But compared to now, the nineties were the golden age of music.
Yap!
THIS IS REEL TALK 🦜 DEACATED 2 THE STRONG BLACK 🖤 SISTERS . WHO GOT US WHERE WE ARE TODAY 😢
Just one of those classics that will entice over many decades. Wanted to say centuries, however, US in the know understand that history will change accordingly for the next project!
Still Hypnotising to this day, lets face it, we all go for a ride in our thoughts with this banger
This song recently played on one of those annoying UA-cam adverts...thinking ooooo TUNE I need to find it....but for the life of me I could not remember the words or the title nor did typing ging ging ging ging.. or Ying Ying Ying Ying help..... hahaha🤦🏼♀️😂😆😂🤦🏼♀️was bugging the sh1t out of me! Song was saying..... remember me??? 🙄🤧
Will never forget the first time I heard this song back in 96/97 when I was 5/6years old boarding a Virgin Atlantic jumbo with my family to Florida from the UK, was playing from the tv screen in the head rest. Stayed with me ever since love it.
People might read this comment100 years from now and find so much to be curious over.
I was on twich and you know you sadly got to eat some comercials but then a puma add shows up with this music on and I just love it ❤
Me too just found the song on the commercial
This song started playing randomly on the radio the first time I ever dropped acid. Never heard it before, took me on an incredible ride, one of the most unique experiences ever.
It came on while I was on dmt by accident and changed the way I hear it, in a good way

Still cool at 53 don’t worry bout tha ……
Meaning you were in your mid twenties when this came out in 1997. That's not really that unique lol. I'm sure lots of 50 year olds like this song. It's from their youth.
Aight cool now let me get you up on some Death Grips, let's go.
Buddy this is literally the music of your youth
41 yes old and this is still a banging track
Remember Me!
My mum's favourite song...I was about 5/6yrs old....she's cool AF!!!!
Marlena Shaw "Woman of the Ghetto" needs to be suitably recognised for her poignant yet truthful lyrics of the struggle and reality of the " African American" raising the "white woman's" her masters children! A powerful and impactful song, orchestrated with a killer back-beat. Blue-boys version is infectious, instantly recognisable and packs a mighty blow of nostalgia your way!🙂
Winnie the Pooh is also a poignant reminder of the white womens failure to nurture their children. While mom had hoped to wine and dine in Africa she was forced to spend time with her children in unfavourable conditions during WW1. Winnie the Pooh is a white washed testimony of the white women who traumatized rather than nurtured when they were needed the most. If we don't learn and understand this it will keep being repeated.
you are so unique bro, you are special
@@jessed9811 it's in the description.....
I hate the black vs white narrative. Being the nanny of a kid (raising him to some extent) is not a bad thing, and "for little" pay is oc debateble, plus everyone could complain that they are getting exploited by ther employeed to some extent. That I get, I also get that historically it may have been different in other times, but then again, if we are gonna sweep generalize, every "race" has been mistreated here and there, every nation has episodes where their countrymen have been mistreated too, so I don't see the point of bringing race/colour skin to the analysis nowadays.
It is a strange feeling when you find something special and you know that It will prevail
Doesn't get old, this one.

Happy Christmas
This is still my jam in 2022. Marlena Shaw’s vocals mix perfectly with this track.

An absolute banger!
This band with this song has made a great tribute to the very great soulful Marlena Shaw, and she sincelery deserved that.
Goosebumps. Today's music rarely can achieve this unfortunately.

There is SO MUCH great music out there, but you're right that it's largely buried under a mountain corporate music/advertising.

Good music are timeless !
I fell asleep one night with the radio playing about 3 months before I first heard this song back in the day when it was first released. Anyhow, it was subliminally stuck in my head for 3 months while I was humming it at work.
Still here in 2022
Still as good in 2021 as it was in the 90's , always gets me moving and gives me the 'ready for going out vibes' 😁

It sends shivers down my spine - this is still entirely incredibly good music.
This is not even music. Just mixing something from actual artists together and calling it a new song.
@@drstihl2007Thats yore thinking!! Greetings from Amsterdam
@drstihl2007 Do you know what this song is about?
This song is most certainly music!
The one chorus repeated again and again and again, “Remember me, I’m the one who had your babies, yes, I”…. Hits hard. Hits powerfully.
Hopefully one day, you never live to understand, young 2007.
Thanks to Odetta !
This is hio hop people. Its pure from great sound from before brought back to life in the nineties she is taking care of a other woman s kid and telling that young kid dont forget the love i gave u while you. Were growing beautiful soul she has the struggles of life come out in songs and in sound the beat alone catchez u then the words from the original cut just explodes the cut to legendary status just perfect hip hop that story is so powerful that beat unforgettable i love this 90 s version to a classic song

I ain't heard this masterpiece of nostalgia for a long time! I forgot all about it! 🥰😍🤩😎🥳🥳🥳🥳
I think I haven't been listening to this song for over 15 years. Once it came back in my recommendations something happened. "Hi there, remember me? Long time no see," I said to my younger self, who was also smoking a green one, while listening to this song.
Smoking one right now

The tame impala cover is fantastic also. I love when both an original and a remix are totally different but equally great. That’s how you a song has good bones.

In 1997 me and a friend worked on a Radio Program, "Divieto d'accesso" in a political radio in our city, Castellammare di Stabia near Napoli Pompei and Sorrento.
We had a big success because we discovered trip hop perls like this. I still have tapes and VIDEO tapes where we recorded the program to hear our errors and become better djs. I was on technical part and my friend was the speaker. I think we will make it live again, one day. Divieto d'accesso.
Long life to 90s !

This is a timeless and classic masterpiece never gets old brings back so many memories of the past when things were more different pure and simple without any second thoughts and without any serious problems sometimes I wish I could turn back time to live exactly the same things without changing anything......😜😜😜😜😜
I just realised all the noise or the music that is embedded with the vocal samples where they couldn't completely isolate the vocals. Still cool though. I would have only heard this track on an old TV back in the 90's. Now, I'm listening to this very clear version on good headphones.
Just encountered this tune......it's pure GOLD💛✨️🌟🪄.....chilling in this pocket of "goodness" 🤗😇
This remix is now about as old as the sample was when the remix was created.
