After WW2 my grandpa went back to the farm. Back then they had a garbage pile on the property because there were no garbage services there. He threw out his medals saying "the war is over and I don't need these to remember it". Or words to that effect. He hardly talked about the war and you had to pry the finest bit of info from him. The property has long been sold off and I've thought about going there to see if I can dig them up. I really only thought about doing it after watching your videos.

cookingwithjesus If you are in the US you can obtain your grandfather's military records and summary of awards and medals and order replacement medals. But ask the new owner if you can search the dump area too.

The uniforms may have been dumped by the soldiers when Germany surrendered in 1945 to move more freely (not get spotted by the allies) to get back to Germany. Possibly.

People who search for this history are heroes. They belong up there with military men and women, officers of the law, firemen, and all sorts. These people are saving history and protecting it from disapearring in time. If you know somebody who does these great things, you should thank them. They have done a great honor for history, and their country's. They keep it alive...

Cha cha, you didn't have a little war, Australia, did you?
Jokes aside, you are lucky not to have had war on your soil. Meanwhile WWI and WWII cemeteries are all over the place where I am. People find unexploded bombs while preparing fields, building structures and so on. Hell, they even found a whole dead Napoleon army in the center of my capital - that's from another war, sure. But war is everywhere in Europe and it still haunts fields, towns, cities.

Liam & the wild child - Japan invaded PNG just to the North of Australia. The Australian army stopped Japan in the Kokoda Track campaign; the first time in the war the Japanese had suffered a setback. Kokoda is very famous for Australians.

Enjoyed your speed of light intro HH. Can't believe the amount of German WW2 German artifacts you and BBG were able to find. K98 cartridges, aluminum Fleisch food containers, sun cream tube, big piece of coal, ink bottle in great shape, nivea cream contained, ceramic pieces, railroad part, 200 L drum for bitumen, Panzer part, backlight part. Wow, the list goes on. And then the pile of German soldiers uniforms. One has to wonder what happened to the German soldiers that wore them? That site must contain so much more. Thank you HH and BBG for sharing that part of history.

Trash and burn pits have the most interesting finds...I've found some great stuff like badges, brass and personal effects from uniforms and boots because of the cholera scare, the Japanese would just burn everything after the POW died, some of these "burn pits" were alight 24hrs/day for 2-3 years! (The Death Railway camps, Thailand, 1942-45)

Depending on where you were that could have been a dump site for German soldiers fleeing at the end of the war.
Many divested themselves of their uniforms, changed into civilian clothes then dispersed fleeing Russia's revenge, just a thought.

A few years back, i went to Germany for a school trip, we went to many places in Germany: Nuremberg, Munich and Berlin, but also to Salzburg in Austria. One day the teachers gave us a day we could do what we wanted, so me and a friend went in to a small forest in the outskirts of Berlin (we were with one of my friends relatives who lived there so we would get lost). I saw a small metal container. It turned out to be soldier's cleaning kit for his K98, the container itself wasn't in a good condition, but the other smaller pieces in it were including the brushes for the bore of the rifle and the metal oil bottle. I still have it to this day. P.S. I am new to this channel. I wish I could look around Germany for relics of the War, but I live in Canada so it would be very expensive to do this.

Love your videos, as always! This time the intro music and the volume was pretty erratic, it went from blaring to very hard to hear several times. Maybe something to be aware of?

I Macey Constructive criticism* it is important for creators to receive feedback, it isn't about me. It is about them refining their videos and growing. Thanks for chiming in though!

After some investigationg there seem to be nothing wrong With my Music in the video. Music volume appears to be constant and flowing. Maybe you should check Your setting or Your end`s Equipment...Thanks for watching

The trash pit was a goldmine for relics! I'm surprised that out of all the ceramics you didn't find anything marked.

During their retreat some German soldiers changed out of their uniforms to civilian clothes to avoid capture. Thanks for another great video.
