I was VERY impressed with my previous run Intermountain Teir 4 but although it runs very smoothly, there is a noticeable growl from the trucks when running at lower-mid speeds. Even with the sound on, the growl interferes IMO - relative to most, if not all, units in my collection. I did correspond with Intermountain on this and explored the issue extensively without much luck. I think it would be helpful to assess/demonstrate silent movement and the mechanical running noise of locomotives when reviewing. I might consider adding another to my collection but... Have you noticed James, or anyone, whether these locomotives are relatively growly? Thanks for posting!
They are both very good models, but I personally stick to SXT because they have great customer service, and the locomotives come in a lot better packaging, I hate that you have to screw and unscrew them in the box.
IMRC - far superior window tint. Not even close. Far superior hand brake chain detail. Not even close. Better handrails. SXT - better everything else. Why can’t 1 company just do it right?
Absolutely stunning locomotives. I was blown away from the quality of Intermountain products.
Those hoppers are beautiful
Loving that Navajo Paint and the coal drag! Very sharp hoppers! Southern Belle always looks great! Nice job!!
i just got a bc et44ac a few days ago, nice detail n smooth running, however the motor humming noise kinda loud, are they all like that?
James you are totally a sucker for PTC antenna arrays and so am I lol

Intermountains are not the strongest pullers in terms of GEVOs.
@@pokeyrailfanning SXT it is! This model looks good but I also want strength
SXT is all around better in everyway
@@officialpennsyjoe what are you talking about. I only have intermountain tier 4 genvos and I think they can pull a decent train.

Atlas has the same design clamshell
So does Bowser and Aurora Miniatures.
Yeah that is The only drawback with the packaging the screws are very annoying.
