Sometimes air is introduced to the pump, causing forming. Check the bottom of the pump and see if it’s worn out. I have seen the same problem and everybody try to put anti-form in the coolant. I pulled the pump out and it was worn out. Once the pump was replaced, the forming went away. Who knew.

    For your foaming issues:
One problem I've seen that leads to issues that a lot of people seem to overlook is cleaning sprays. We had one guy who was really good at keeping the robot that fed the machine clean, it was a carousel type robot and it would drain back into the main system. Over time we'd just get a lot of foam. Once we were aware of that issue, we were able to abate the foam.
Same problem with windows. Setup guys want a clear view of a new setup, and they clean the windows. Cleaner gets in the tank, foam ensues.
We've also had issues where some operators needed to check some small features on parts while they're on the fixture and used cleaning sprays.
    Two solutions:
For cleaning: spray bottles of iospropyl alcohol do the trick.
For foam overall: we use a defoamer. We use this stuff called "Rustlick sump-side defoamer" I think it comes out to like 300ml to a barrel of coolant or something, and works immediately, and lasts about a month or so.

My coolant was foaming. I use rain water and the solution was to add a little liquid calcium. Killed the foam instantly.

You need a barista to do some Instagram coolant foam drawings. It could be the next instamachinist...

Great video 👍I think Kern should update the flow valve to a yogurt design 😊, foaming of the coolant is due to air being added to the pump cycle same principle as a car fuel pump or water pump fault! Usually worn pump or loose couplings etc .

The cnc horizontal boring mill i run has a 3"ish deep pit all the way around it thats sloped towards the conveyor imbedded in the floor. So the entire 30ftx35ft floor around the machine serves as the coolant pan and then the conveyor has a transfer pump that sends coolant back to the actual coolant tank through a paper band filter. It has some odd parts of the design and is very dependent on the quality of the concrete work but overall works well. Doesn't catch everything though as despite having about 20ft of machine and pit infront of the the spindle, certain tools will still send coolant into the main aisle when running through spindle coolant. The machine is fairly new so still working out the kinks and additions to help reduce that.

My Qualchem foamed when I had the concentration too high, had a bad refactometer. anything over 6% foamed, anything below 3% would start to see rust on the Kurt vises.

Our Oemeta rep told us if we use a 5 micro filter on our Okuma it will cause a “froth” because it’s taking out the defoamer, this was just last week so we haven’t swapped to 10micron yet going to this week to see if it fixes it.
Just a good for thought you can check into. We are having a bad overflow problem when running 1k psi all day in our Genos 560

There is another coolant place here in ingersoll, 45 minutes away from you, i use them in my cnc machines
Ometa coolant works well and isn’t crazy expensive either

Foaming coolant can be caused by to hard water. In my shop we had to use a water softener for filling the machines until the public water supply was adjusted a few years ago. But we have still to add an anti foaming agent every so often. The anti foam stuff is expensive but it needs only approximately 10 mL for 1000L of coolant.

We had huge foaming issues at my shop, only thing that solved it was a new tank of coolant with a higher concentration

I’d say you probably just have a low quality coolant that is causing the foam.
I’d also say you have the wrong type of chip conveyer for your application.
My new to me 5x machine came with this very interesting type of conveyer that I don’t fully understand but it seems to get all the small chips and keep them out of the coolant without the need for a paper filter.
Then a couple cartridge filters do the work of keeping the high pressure pumps clean.

Struggled with this with my new DMG Monoblock 95 and the Haas's for that matter. To fix the issue I went to Hangsterfer's and reverse osmoses' water. Coolant issues gone. We really struggled with this for a while. Antron Brown opened the door for us to try it. The additive they gave us to run in the old coolant (a prep to cleaning the tank) killed the foam on contact like magic. The rest as they say is history.

@@darrenmayer3435 I’m using a master chemicals product now but I used to use qualichem 251c and had some issues with it.
Using this new conveyer I’m not sure why more machines don’t have it. I looked at it I think it’s called a consep conveyer and they say it cleans the coolant to 50microns and there are no filters you have to replace
