I was wondering how the video was posted 12 hours ago but this link was posted 4 days ago.... lol
I love your videos man!!! If possible, please research your sponsors... BetterHelp sells their clients PRIVATE confidential information for additional profit. PLEASE don't let them sponsor your videos again. I'm all about better mental health but sending your subscribers to a company that only intends to sell their private mental health information for profit is wrong. The only reason I mention this is out of respect for you and the other viewers, that's it.
How did they rent you a car? Do you have an Australian drivers license?
Watching downielive is my mental break every time he releases a video! So warming and kind and adventurous! Such a genuine person it’s great goin on trips virtually with you!
"A Lovely Suzuki Swift...which I've named it Taylor" - Subtle yet brilliant, almost missed it!
😜 I’m glad you caught that!
🤭🤭🎶🎶👍👍
Subtle would have been Jonathan or Thomas...
How was it subtle? Lmao are you deaf or something
Top Gear quality scripting. 10 out of 10.
When I saw the title I was figuring on a 500-900 acre golf course. I didn't know anything like this existed, and it has the roughest fairways I've ever seen, plus a few hazards like snakes, spiders, tormenting flies and, of course, kangaroos. It did end nicely on a proper golf course and you did see a part of Australia that not many see. I'm looking forward to the rest of this Australian adventure.
Before watching the vid, I thought wonder if he is playing the golf course on the Nullabor
well thought out comment, thanks
You had three generations of my family smiling from ear to ear, from start to finish. That’s no easy feat! This is probably my favourite video so far. We had so much fun watching, and can’t wait for the rest of your adventures down under. Thank you for putting smiles on our faces 😀
Thank you for telling me. I LOVE to hear that the whole family can enjoy my videos together 😊
As a Belgian with an Australian partner, I LOVED this video! I'm looking forward to your coverage of the remaining 3 weeks. Also, I miss Australia despite its scary critters.
Awesome! Thank you!
34:49 The huntsman, they're part of the family here if you ever get one in the house, you do your thing the the huntsman will do theirs.
Okay from an Aussie, you need to buy yourself a hat net that goes over the top of your cap & hangs down to your chest, they are a must with the Australian outback & it would have made your life a lot easier. Also you had a genuine Aussie burger & we love our burgers with beetroot, pineapple, bacon, onion, egg, tomato & lettuce on a grassfed beefburger with steak or barbeque sauce. So yummy!! Sadly I can no longer eat the burger buns unless they are gluten free or I pay the price dearly!! 😥 I would also suggest that doing the golfcourse in our winter or early spring, although you would definitely have to spend the nights in a roadhouse as the temperatures get very cold at night. The days would be shorter than the middle of summer though!! You saw more wildlife than I have seen as I have never met a dingo in all my 70 plus years other than in sanctuaries.
Mike, your promotion of mental health has really helped a lot of people, and being a man promoting it destigmatizes the process. And I love your videos, been here since day 1.
Of course I’m here for resident Canadian giver of good vibes deal with a golf course for 42 and a half minutes. Great way to say ‘Happy New Year’!
As someone who also has a love hate relationship with golf, this was an absolute joy to watch. Such a fun adventure!
Amazing that you made it across Australia without getting swarmed by poisonous spiders, eaten by a giant crocodile, attacked by a great white shark, having a dingo eat your baby, captured by wild bushmen, knocked unconscious by a donk, run over by Luke Fink, punched out by a kangaroo, bit by a venomous snake, melted by a heatwave, sicken by covid, burnt by a bush fire, mauled by a koala, passed out from dehydration, stung by jellyfish, lost in the desert and pecked by magpies. Glad you enjoyed it!
As an Aussie, Welcome to our humble home. I have done this drive many times. There’s so much fun stuff to do in Australia, thank you for doing South Australia & WA. I love you excitement. Our government of the day sent NASA a bill for the cleanup of Skylab debris. 😂❤❤
Who knew a video about golf could be so entertaining haha! The visitor centre being closed at the end is so typical aus too. I’m American and have lived here almost 6 years and had no idea this existed! Recently moved to WA from queensland and the flies are insane!!! Assuming this was filmed before the cyclone in far north QLD so hope you didnt get any of that bad weather. Look forward to the rest of the series :)
A longtime subscriber here. I normally watch every video right after upload but for some reason, didn’t feel excited about this one, until I realized you were in Australia (after watching the river safari video).
Hit play and enjoyed every second of it. For those on the fence thinking this is a golf video, it’s as much travel as golf.
Thanks to you Mike, this is on my bucket list of things to do!
Once again you’ve made an interesting and entertaining video. Thank You!
Are you wearing a Trade Mutt shirt? Trade Mutt is the Australian version of Worth hats.
P.S. That spider is just a Huntsman - harmless but a considerate house mate - keeps a tidy space and pays the rent by being the insect pest controller 😂
I seriously, no joke, HATE watching golf......BUT.....this was a HUGE adventure with golf being the variable. I loved it! Thanks for taking us along!
Welcome to Australia! I enjoyed all of your experiences here. It was VERY fun to watch...and had me smiling every step of the way! Delighted you will be posting more videos of your visit!
That was fun. Thanks for surviving the course for us to enjoy without the flys. Can't wait to see the other adventures in Oz
For those playing at home: Wildlife scorecard - Kangaroo, checked. Dingo, check. Big F*** off spider, check. Emu, check. Metric tonne of flies - check and check. Not seen, somehow - snakes.
As an Australian, I’m so glad you pronounced emu correctly. However, you definitely need some Aerogard to help with the flies. Well done Mike. 🇦🇺
13:04 ‘Oh here it is!’… drops ball and shines torch on it rolling 😂
Hi Mike...
Hubby and I haven't laughed so much in ages.
He has done the drive across the Nullarbor , many years ago, and remembers it well.
I am surprised no-one told you the Aussie secret to Outback Flies.....
It's called Aeroguard ( insect repellent )....
When it was launched many year ago the " jingle" in the ad went " Djavagoodweekend ?"
That's Aussie Strine for
" Did you have a good weekend ?"😂
Looking forward to next week's adventures "Down Under"
PS...did you know that "Nullarbor" literally means " no trees "?
The "greens" are oiled sand, that's why they look wet.....Ive driven past this golf course 8 times, Im from WA and married to a man from Victoria, we've done the Nullabor lots of times, these days we fly, heaps faster, but I'd love to do the Indian Pacific one day. Ive also joked about crossing on a mobility scooter with my hubby driving a truck with a big gennie for the recharges and camping equipment lol. We've driven at night, in a 4wd, not a small hire car. It is safe enough if you can tuck behind a large truck. Road trains are extremely effective at sweeping the larger critters off the road. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures here.
P.S. The holes in the ground at Border Village? Ants most probably. Highly recommend you dont go out of your way to meet any of those....they have one hell of a bite.
Welcome to Australia mate. I've watched you go through my old home town (when I was 7) on a narrow boat, now you're in Australia heading to WA (my new home). There is so much to do here. Hopefully you're still here and recording. Would love to give you some suggestions of cool things to see while you're here.
What a great adventure Mike! I admire your dedication to doing this course. Glad you took us with you.
Mike I've been watching a long time and this was one of your funniest most enjoyable videos. A mullet, a decrepit bag of clubs, and 8 million flies make for amazing content! Who else on UA-cam would do this craziness.
I've been looking forward to this one! Thanks for sharing this awesome journey Mike. Rooting for you in all your travels!
You have the most diverse and interesting programs that I have the pleasure of watching. Thanks, again. 🤟
Glad you enjoy it!
This was so much fun to watch....You find the most incredible places to show us all...Can't wait till next week...❤
Nice one Mike. Very challenging course and you did it !! Look forward to your other Aussie video's to come !
Great times, Mike. Thanks! You're content is the best.
Probably one of my favourite adventures you’ve done! All by yourself and getting it done! Lots of fun, animals and scenery. Kudos!
Ahh love the way you said Kalgoorlie !! Yes I grew up in the town and I’m always fascinated how other from around the world pronounces it
I'd love to do this! Thanks for doing this!! Beautiful.
A version of the Suzuki Swift was sold as the Metro by Chevrolet (also by their Geo brand before Geo was discontinued). I owned a couple of the 3 cylinder version; very economical, but, not something I'd choose to drive across the outback.
You play golf like I do! Glad you've come down to see us in Australia and I am looking forward to the rest of your adventures here.
16:11 😍 Happy New Year @DownieLive 🎉 Thank you for taking us on wild adventures 👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for coming to Oz. There is lots more to see here in Australia, you will need to come back and explore some more.
I will!
you just go for it man. Love how you just will dive right in and try something new in these new countries and cultures
Happy New Year this was amazing and what a golf course you were having fun
What an interesting course! It kinda reminds me of a geocaching mission I went on. I also really appreciate your openness with mental health. I too have experienced pretty debilitating depression, and the more we make mental health supports more accessible, the better our lives will be. A great video as always!
Excellent! Something to watch and from your previous adventures this should be good!
This is so cool!!! It’s now on my bucket list. I had no idea this existed and probably wouldn’t have unless I saw this video. Thank you Michael!!!
The kangaroo was so magnificent that Downy missed the Road Train sitting in the pull-off! lol
Love that you do the kinds of videos
Just a fun exploration and learning something along the way
Golf is a complex sport and not always as easy as some individuals make it appear. The ideal golf game is to have fun! Loved the passing down-under wildlife while you were golfing or taking a break. Especially that real life scary spider that proved she was indeed real. Australia does have some drawbacks, but oh what fun stories to tell in avoiding the scary ones and enjoying the amazing bits.
Glad I became a member. Maybe Pink or orange balls would have helped. Have you ever thought of doing a geocache tour?
Oh bright colour balls would have been a great choice!
I haven’t thought of geocaching, but it could be a good idea. Thanks for the tip.
What a hoot!!! It’s heartwarming to see a struggling golfer with a great attitude!!! Rare. Thanks for the happy adventure from Canada.🇨🇦 ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
My Christmas present to myself was the Bucket O' Sun hat after watching you on Yt. It's quite a stylish hat with good sun protection and I tell everybody I show it to about Wirth hats. I am glad you are filming in Oz. There are a few really good train journeys to be had here. I can't wait for your train journey videos.
Those bloody flies when I lived in Western Australia! They drove me mad! 🤣
That spider looks like a species of huntsman to me. They’re harmless. They hunt down insects and arachnids.
Oh, and your golf is better than mine! We have the second oldest golf course in the world here in Tasmania. And it’s in a tiny country town in the central highlands…
That was so much fun to watch. I like to see a PGA Tour do that golf course. Thank you for sharing your adventure in Australia.
Excellent video! I would definitely do this! Great way to see the Outback and have fun too!
You go on the best adventures...great video...can't wait for the next one.
Hi Mike, great video man. What a blast reliving every hole, almost made me want to go back and do it again ... not! We probably crossed paths with you a dozen times as we played the course on the same three days you did, so it was good to see the final production. Keep up the great work!! (BTW, I scored 108, but that wasn't counting the 32 lost balls, so make it 172 ... you win!). Cheers from John and Jan!
Oh John and Jan! I’m glad you got to finally see the video!
It was a pleasure bumping into you along the way. As you saw, I didn’t get to speak to many people on the 3 days, so you 2 were a pleasant treat.
All the best!
Wow....this was fantastic!!! Enjoyed every minute. I've been down the East Coast from Cairns to Sidney but never to this part of the country. Thanks for showing us this part of amazing Australia.😃
Glad you enjoyed it!
Such a great video. Thank you so much sharing the joy!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video mate, welcome to Australia, and what a find I had no idea this golf
Course existed. Feel for ya with the flies mate they are defo brutal in the outback
Great Video. I'm not a golfer, and I'm not sure I could buy enough balls to carry me through, but I'm game! I'll get to Australia sometime and may just try it. In the meantime, I've sent the video to my brother who is a golfer and plays all the time.
Love how you pronounce some of the town names, close on some. I grew up in WA so enjoyed you saying the names. That spider isn't dangerous by the way, you could have picked it up. Huntsman it is named. Just avoid the smaller ones that are black with a red strip on the back. Hope you Enjoy Australia
So glad you're here in Australia. Hope you love it
Welcome to my neck of the woods. G'day from SA. Fantastic to watch . Enjoy our stunning country Mike. You might even find a few trains along the way. ❤
Great video Mike. So you finally made it down here playing golf. I hope you really enjoy my home. Along the Nullabor is pretty. I hope to see you here in Melbourne.
Yes, something I learned when I visited is that there is nothing small down under. Thank you for showing me a part of the country I never had the chance to see. Funny how a Canadian is doing tourism for Australia. Well done.
Welcome Down Under Mike loved this video and the drive across the Nullarbor and looking forward to seeing the rest of your Australian adventure.
More to come!
what a fun activity! those nights in the outback are so beautiful with the stars out. Can't wait to see the other Australian Adventures!
Yeah, this was a unique adventure, but kind of the most fun way to see the Nullarbor, in my mind at least.
Australian here ... I just loved this. Have been across the Nullarbor a couple of times (not playing golf), and you really did the trip justice. Thanks so much for a trip down memory lane.
That was surprisingly entertaining. Thanks for this unique experience.
We loved this video. It felt like classic Downie. 😊 What a cool thing to do and clever tourism tactic to support local businesses. Looking forward to more Australia videos…with hopefully fewer flies.
Totally! Thanks for coming along on another adventure 😊
That was the most fitting ending to a video ever. Haha loved it. I am not a big golfer at all (even though I live in one of the biggest cities for it, Augusta), but this looks like an amazing experience.
Wow, I won't complain about my local municipal course fairways any more! 😂
Had a lot of fun watching this episode. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the extra support!
It’s really appreciated
Super fun Mike! We could see how fun and adventurous that was. What a fun way to travel a long distance ! Ps.. hi from “the island man “ you are missing a lot of rain here at home 🏠. 🇨🇦
So totally BEAUTIFUL! You've done it again, MIKE! Thank You!!!
P.S. COCONUT OIL! Keep those Flies away. Citronella, Bay, Eucalyptus as well. Let us know.
Great to have you here in Oz. Well done driving on the left!
When you were in the Museum mentioned about the Skylab it actually is from Skylab there is a sign I believe that has another part of it somewhere in town as a friend who drove his Tesla Model 3 across from Tasmania took a picture of it. He didn't do the golf course though but I didn't know it existed so hope to copy his trip in my own EV in a year or two and play the golf course while I'm at it as you have done.
Loving the channel! I wish I had the guts to do what you do. I can’t wait to see your channel grow and grow x
Thank you so much!!
Love this video ❣️❣️. I was enjoying it so much that the 42 minutes just flew by! My favorite so far too! Can’t wait for your next Australia adventures!
Glad you enjoyed it!
"I don't know where I'm going"-- that's me when I golf.
If I ever have the money and opportunity to do this I think I would love to. My wife has said on multiple occasions she will not go to Australia ever, so this would be the ultimate solo trip to Australia.
wow!!! never expected to see you visit Australia!!! Hope you had fun, though by the looks of it you had lots of fun :)
My mind upon hearing “Camels, kangaroos, and wombats” automatically thought Wizard of Oz but down under lol
Love that you stuck with it, showing humility is one of your best traits! I would’ve done the same in terms of skill, maybe you should find others in the areas maybe subscribers who might be interested in sharing some of that humility with could make the adventures more fun for you.
Well thank you Mike, I finally have found some one that golfs like I do. Made me smile and the sights were amazing, and I didn't have to go near any snakes or spiders. Looking forward to next week.
Haha great video mate! Our flys here in WA are awful for a month or so before the weather changes bringing winds off the Indian Ocean.
Looks like you enjoyed yourself. I've never played that course and I've driven across the Nullabor 15 times! In April I'm heading over for my 16th on my bike (motor), first time I've done that. Your crossing looked great and you've captured the drive well.
Loved this video. And I love to golf but sure glad you golfed this course for us all - thank you but no thanks. The flies would have me in tears!! I've gotten chased off a course by mosquitos - that was bad enough!! See you next video!!
Hey Mike!
I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos man, thanks for keeping it up.
Not much point behind the comment, just letting you know I'm having a relaxing time watching this while my girlfriends out with her friends.
Cheers to the New Year and another year of content!
👊
Right on, thanks Aaron. Have a good year!
Great trip/ vid!
Just a cool experience. I love Australia. Hope I can get back there some day.
This was a great one!
Saw this course when Erik did it on Adventures in Golf on Skratch. Cool to see you do it too!
As someone who has never golfed, I found your golfing perfectly acceptable!! Great adventure!
Good to see you down under. G'day mate.
Thanks for another interesting video. I have only played real golf once and like you just had fun playing. I too had no luck using a driver off the tee. I never could get it to drive my ball straight. I ended up using an iron and finally got my shots to go straight. But what you did was really different. As usual you made the video very interesting.
Wow! Awesome to see you visit Australia!
Did you end up driving to Perth? Hope you enjoyed your trip.
I did!
Excellent video! I love your channel! 🎉
Thanks so much!
Must admit thought this was going to be boring (golf) so skipped it but watched the Murray River one and said you had been in Aus previous so went back to watch this one and really enjoyed it! Never heard of this before. Yes best thing to buy is a net hat for the outback as flies drive you crazy. Looking forward to the next one re Cassoways.
Loved this video dude; so glad you had a proper aussie burger with the lot as well. As an australian living abroad this video really brought back some fees for me dude.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I live in Australia (in Melbourne) and I had no idea this was a thing! This was an epic video!
That’s crazy! Brown snakes terrify me! Only the Aussies could cook up something like this!
Dinner did look great! Glad you decided to be safe.
The scenic lookout is beautiful! Glad you got par.
Giant emu = cool! Kangaroo = very cool. Spider = terrifying. Flies= awful. At least you saw a stuffed camel. Thanks for doing this!!
