  • I've been transitioning the last 5 months. I didn't buy anything for myself in the past 5 months and I finally did.

    Shoutout the the blue collar/manual labor job friends out there. A lot of us have been at 1 place for a long time. Sometimes we take a lot of BS because change can be scary and we are so use to our routines. I more then anyone understand that feeling. Try not to be afraid to move on if you feel like it's time. I was depressed when I was fired now I'm making $10 an hour more. My always tells me God has a plan for you.

      Appreciate the support. Van Meet November 2 and 3. It's going to be big! Once the weather cools off my goal is to really enjoy my van and do at least 1 camping trip a month. I'm talking to more and more people who are going that extra step and getting rear lockers for their 2wd Lifted vans so we're really going to be able to show people what these things can do.

    Man, computers are the future. I was the same, always did hard manual labor because God blessed me with a strong back. I slipped into a techy job and it has changed my life, and im watching my friends bodies fail them as we get older. Transition while your mind is still young!

      Almost 10 years at Fed Ex and 0 injuries. I am really thankful that I survived that long without getting hurt.
      How did you find your way to a techy job?
      I got lucky. Job recruiters were impressed by my resume. When got interviewed I didnt think I was qualified but they really wanted to hire me! I have no idea why lol. Maybe they saw potential in me that I would figure things out.

    Sounds like things are clicking for you buddy. Wish you all the best. Life throws some curve balls here and there you just have to know how to hit them. Planning on driving out from Az for the van meet.

      Some people took a week or 2 to get a hang of the technical aspect of the job. It took 3 months for it to click with me. I feel dumb as F**K! lol. Manual labor and attendance portion of the job I'm on point.
      Fed Ex didnt allow phones in the facility because it's the most stolen thing there.We had to go through metal detectors.
      So being at a job that allows phones I now realize how addicted to phones peoples are. My numbers maybe comparable to the smart people because their face is in their phone half the day. Now that the job is clicking my production numbers and non addiction to phones my production should be way up there now.
      Fed Ex allowed me not to create that bad habit off being addicted to my phone. I got 2 of my friends in and 3 more are coming in. They are going to shine because they aren't attached to their phones and they are smarter then me lol.

      @@JohnDrivesAnything I am in management and have to deal with the phone issues with my employees but they are very good about it. Most people are addicted to there phone.

    Awfully crappy of them not to even tell you about being fired, so you could move on with your life and make other plans. Unprofessional, disrespectful, and just malicious way to treat someone who obviously needs that information.
    Glad to hear about the transition. Would you say you identify as a computer guy?

    • @JohnDrivesAnything
      @JohnDrivesAnything  Місяць тому

      Which hulk was the smart and strong one at the same time? Grey one? I want to identify as that Hulk.
      Fed Ex was all manual labor all the time. Current job is half of my day sometimes 75% on the computer and very little manual labor.
      Bush League of Fed Ex management and the manager who was suppose to keep me in the loop was 3rd in command. He was too cowardly to give me a call and had one of his 6 mid management guys text me 3 weeks after I was officially fired.
      It gets worse. I picked up my walking papers outside the building from the manager who texted me. Apparently Fed Ex gives you 5 days to contest your termination. Since I got my walking papers 3 weeks later I was ineligible to contest. Management straight up failed me.
      At my new job 2 girls got into it and they were instantly separated to different departments.
      I been asking Fed Ex management for 2 years to keep their golden boy in check. I stand up for myself finally he cries and hides behind them and escorts him to his car because he played victim that he's scared.

    • @JohnDrivesAnything
      @JohnDrivesAnything  Місяць тому +2

      I joke around that I was the best at my last job and now I'm the worst at my new one. God has a great sense of humor. Life is fun. I'm actually learning computer stuff so I hope I keep this job in 3 weeks. If not I'm living out of my van for a months and enjoying life while I look for another one.
      I do miss Fed Ex a lot and wish management didn't ruin it for me. As far as jobs go I had so much fun there and all my best friends came from that job. All the hard workers there stuck together and became friends outside of work. It was the bond we had. We made the job look easy because we just knew every part of what had to me done.
