With the surgeon's knot rig, you can correct the angle of the top fly by taking the surgeon's knot tag end up the line and tying a simple overhand knot around the main line just above the surgeon's knot. You can do it before or after you tie on the top fly.

Thankyou for sharing your knowledge about the dropper rig variations this was very helpful for me. Appreciate it very much!

Another Rig: Instead of tying both tippets to the eye of the top fly just tie only the top fly tippet as if it's a single fly. Then tie the dropper fly tippet to the tippet above the top fly using a double Davy knot. By doing this you can fish two small flies without worrying about eye size; and you can just slide the Davy knot up the top fly tipper to change the top fly

I like the tippet ring rig and tying off the bend of the lead fly. Both systems really good. Thankyou

Thank you. Only video so far where one of the tag ends of the blood knot is actually used as a dropper. My tippet keeps breaking at the knot of my triple surgeons and I was looking for a superior knot. Have you used the blood knot? Is there any advice that comes with it? Cheers and thanks! 👏🙌🔥❤️

There is a problem with tying the point fly to the bend of the hook if you are using barbless hooks (not mushed down barbs). You will occasionally lose the point fly while casting.

If you are using barbless flies I wouldn't recommend the first rig in this video. I have lost too many fish from the line slipping off the back of the first fly.

But wait there are more , especially if you are using it like a drop shot rig with the weight on the bottom . Save that for another day :-)

Great stuff! There are also simple ways to replace the dropper to first fly when it gets too short by tying 1 knot. (1st fly is usu called dropper, 2nd is point or trailing fly depending how it’s tied in)

Just use uni knots. Tie a uni to the first fly leaving a long tag end for the second fly. Run that tag end through the eye of the fist fly. Then tie the second fly with another uni. Done. Two knots total.
