    21:27 Beer collectibles never fetch as much as SODA. Have you noticed this ? I guess that's telling us something . LOL . That sign is an INCREDIBLE feat of layout , design and illustration all coming together for MAJOR "eye appeal" . The Ram looks like he was done in OIL PAINT as well. Notice that he looks "creamy". Most illustration are was done in water based gauche for TIME & deadlines . Oil paint takes days & weeks to dry.

      Beer is down in popularity right now, but soda seems to be bubbling up! I thought that sign was really well composed as well. I didn't think about oil paint being harder to use

    20:45 I swear I saw one of those owls in your inventory at your death pile sale on one of your videos. If that chair is from 200 years ago I'd expect a lot of wear on that stretcher in the front due to people resting their feet there.

    I am a Navy brat or I was for 13 years. Consequently every time we moved a lot of things got left behind. I watch you a lot and so often I see toys I used to own. If only we had stayed in the same town that had a big attic! But then I wouldn’t have been to Hawaii twice, California so many times, and attended a high school the day it was integrated!

      I'm an Air Force brat & ex navy wife & lament the same about losing my childhood toys to various moves. I was born in England & have been back a few times as well as Germany, Switzerland, North Carolina, San Diego, New Mexico & Virgina. Yea, losing things w/ every move & changing schools was the price to pay for a free trip around the world & getting to experience different cultures, i guess!

    I am new to your channel and just can’t stop watching! You are so informative and funny and I love your honesty. Here in Tri-Cities WA we don’t have an abundance of “antique” malls but the Vintage Markets have started to grow and pop-up events are happening so it’s been really fun to get your perspective on pricing as you wander about.

It’s now being soaked in Blue Dawn dish soap to be put in my collection 👍 The color on the Jeanette glass is rich!. My husband would have loved the Tennessee tuxedo piece. ♥️🐩

    2:40 Doesn't look like that stopper goes with the bottle. I think it came from a decanter, not a perfume bottle. That would be a lot of trouble to file it down. I don't know though.

    I'm in love with the opalescent! I found 3 hobnail pieces at various places that were affordable i'll hoard & love for awhile before reselling. With my "luck" the price will drop on them when i do decide to sell them. I'd dearly love to find a beautiful piece of bristol glass; a perfume bottle, if it comes in such. I lament occasionally over the pair of lucite candles i found at a yard sale for $1 that were stolen out of my booth. Well, i was at the Goodwill a few days ago and wouldn't you know i found a pair in perfect condition in a zip lock bag for $1.79 (where do they come up with such odd ball prices?) which of course i had to do my happy dance & sing a chorus of Hallelujah! Those babies sell for about $25 on ebay! Not my taste in decor, but as we resellers know, nostalgia sells! Thanks, George for the lessons! Congrats on the great finds, especially the epic owl. Safe & Happy trails to you!

      @TheAntiqueNomad  2 роки тому +1

      I'm glad you found a replacement! It's crummy when people steal, no one is going to die if they can't afford something, and there's usually layaway so it's really not necessary. I really like the opalescent too and it's around our area to find

    The only problem with ultramarine swirl is that the color is not consistent. Some is very green, the ultramarine color is more desirable. Cups and saucers can be of different shades if bought separately. Use caution if buying through the mail.

    Evening George! When you were doing the estate sale in Florida a while ago and had the round Gesso mirror that I fell in love with, but couldn't get to, since I am in Seattle... I finally found one today at Goodwill in Burien... I have been looking for 20 years, but I am too cheap to pay retail... LOL I got it for 12.99, went down the aisle looking at the other pictures and framed items and found a yard long gesso mirror too, for 7.99! I was out the door in a flash with both of them! Love when I find deals like that! They will have to go to my storage for now because of the tree that fell through my house, but they will be safe and carefully packaged! So happy I found them, and before anybody broke them!

    Great tour of the mall. I was wondering how one could tell the difference between a contemporary made Lucite lamp and an vintage one? You mentioned the 80’s chandelier but were they also manufactured in the deco era ? The design looked very Art Deco. Thanks.
    PS thanks for all the Informative videos. I am really getting an education !

    • @TheAntiqueNomad
      @TheAntiqueNomad  Рік тому +1

      Good question! There is some older Lucite but it really wasn't a popularly used material until the 1950s, when the Art Deco period was primarily over. It became more popular in lighting in the 1970s and 1980s, during the Deco Revival era. New ones from China will have new cords also made in China, the sellers might try to pull a Made in China sticker off but they won't bother to change the wiring, which is permanently marked

    Good evening, George! That Deco tray with the nude dance would make a great tray for a Deco decanter set. At $145.00 for that German wall clock...I'd be driving another nail in the wall. That Jim Beam cat decanter is one I've never seen before. That was interesting. That "Cherries" pitcher looked like Mosser. I have two sets of Mosser, and I display them right along with the Northwood, Dugan, Imperial, etc.. Mosser makes great glass, and they use the old molds, from the original makers. They take care their pieces can't be confused with the old pieces, and I have a lot of respect for them and their glass. That French sconce was fantastic. I liked that bamboo fern stand. I have a "thing" for bamboo furniture. The Ultramarine glass is really pretty. I bet their "Iris" pattern would be really pretty in that colour. Do you ever come across one of the "Angry Duck" hood ornaments, from the movie "Convoy"? I'd like to have one...if I could find one affordable. I've found some, but I ain't paying what they want for them. That was a great mall! Thanks for the take-along!!!

    I LOVE MONSTER MAGNET ! Funny note: did you ever notice that it seems to be based on the demon / devil from Fantasia ? Often a creative team keeps a scrapbook of photo references to help them design a toy or character. Also Also-in REVERSE : the Superman Soaky was used as reference in some of those GIANT 15 foot tall roadside attractions (example: giant holding a big muffler , giant holding a big chicken leg, etc.) I know you've seen it before .... They are still around in areas that you would travel thru.

    • @TheAntiqueNomad

    18:18 Soakys are a TUFF SELL. The better ones are Batman & Robin, Superman, Frankenstein , Wolfman, Mummy and probably the MOST valuable one : Creature From The Black Lagoon. Also the more OBSCURE the cartoon is, the better : Squiddly Diddly , Winsome Witch, Atom Ant, Secret Squirrel , etc. The Soakys here on this shelf-- will be here the next time you visit . And the year after that as well.
