That last kill reminds me of my xenonauts campaign. My best soldier with the highest kill count had a tendency to run up to xenos and blast them in the face with a shotgun.

@@usdinmarjoYep. The stronger the characters are, the farther they can lob their grenades. In the late game I mostly use MARS to do the explosion hahaha one time I had my favorite guy throw grenades but ended up dropping it to the side and blew himself up. He was a good colonel up to that moment 😅
Yeah, it's not some DnD bullshit like "ref save for half damage, but shifty rogues just go completely unscathed from a fucking fireball". Man-made fireballs just reduce everything in 5m radius into red mist.
I don’t know about X2 (haven’t played it yet,) but in X1 grenade accuracy was equal to or worse than gun accuracy. Still useful in many situations, but they absolutely were not any more consistent than firearms

@@natthanonsuktian209 Been there...! I liked to bring a single tank, two later on, to act as scouts. Let them go out ahead, clear the corners, soak up fire. Beyond that, I'd say you could opt for taking up defensive positions and letting them come to you, but there's no guarantee they will.

Yeah, these aliens are quite deadly. Most of the characters die in 1-2 shots depending on whether they wear armor or not. Aliens also have very high damage and if they clump together it has a passive that increases their accuracy so a lot of times I found myself walking my team into a blind spot only to get killed by a bunch of xenoes walking around the cornor. Pretty annoying. Skill issue, I know 😂
@natthanonsuktian209 or you could do what someone I saw did which was set up an MG behind a door and watch as they tear themselves to shreds after opening the door
I just got into Turn-base strategy games recently so I'm pretty new to the genre. But a lot of people said that Xenonauts is somewhat a spiritual successor to the original XCOM. I'm having a ton of fun with this game and I'll definitely try out XCOM in the future.
There's XCOM:UFO defence, where they were fighting aliens, and there's XCOM:Terror from the deep, where we harras ocean dwellers. Balance in second broken though.

Oh don't worry! The game's not done yet. There's a bunch of unfinished content and right now the game is pretty much barebones compared to Xenonauts 1. You can start saving money until the game is more fleshed out :)

I can't comment on this. I haven't played the first Xenonauts. Aside from graphical upgrades, the content is still lacking behind Xenonauts 1 though. There are still missing features and content waiting to be added.

Would have been good to see realistic graphics and engine upgrade? Right now you get same experience from both games?

...That still depends on how strong that particular grunt's throwing arm is... (aplies to classic 90s X-COM atleast)
