Do the Spanish Civil War!
I recently finished George Orwell's memoirs Homage to Catalonia and the splintering of anarchist factions is fascinating.
Great video John as always!
Londonderry, the only city with 6 silent letters in the name
"Great! Another Gandalf cosplayer!"
-A certain sea monster
🤣
Well technically it’s a lake monster…
EXCELLENT PRESENTATION JOHN!
Fantastic! I love getting the chance to learn about little corners of history that don't get much exposure outside their home countries, and as not-quite-a-copyright-lawyer (I concentrated in IP in law school but haven't practiced in the field), that aspect was a great bonus!
This was absolutely brilliant. Also, thanks for giving me a cheeky cop out answer of who to blame and such about you know what. Bloody Dál Riata...
great video
Now I know why Columba College is called that in Dunedin, New Zealand.
That was a great video - thank you!!!
This is your best video yet!
This sounds like an Icelandic Saga, I want more of these, these are fun
Absolutely wonderful! I’m so surprised that it has so few views…
You were in my class today lol I was the one that guessed that thing was brakes
st colmcilles house is in my town but i dont know if it was actually his house or not since i live on meath? But St. Colmcille is prominent in the town, we have a few things named after him, like two churches.
The nation of Columba is located in a highly mountainous region which serves as a natural barrier from invaders. There are only two major cities, the capital, Mundare, and Phact, both located near the Annulus Sea, while smaller villages are scattered around the mountain ranges. Main roadways and travel routes were constructed through the mountains for more convenient access to these villages.
The invention of the telegraph system by a Columban engineer in 1846 not only made communication easier between Columban towns but also revolutionized long-distance communication for the rest of the world.
Good video Mr. Ruddy, looking forward for next video.
I love your channel keep up the great stuff
@John D Rudy could you cover the the Viking expansion and settlements in Ireland? I feel it's to overshadowed by their attacks within England, and is in need of some deserving spotlight. Once again thank you for the wonderful entertainment and art you provide us with.
Another banger as always :D
love your channel keep up the great
This was absolutely brilliant. Also, thanks for giving me a cheeky cop out answer of who to blame and such about you know what. Bloody Dál Riata...👍👍👍👍
Hey, not too much to ask but could you do the Seven Years War as one of you’re videos? I’ve been very interested in it and I’m curious in how you will explain it!
Not sure if that's a cupboard or a whole London flat in the intro.
So a preist stages a rebellion over copyright law in 500s Ireland then went off to be a king of some Scottish islands.
I only heard of him because he supposedly banished a lake monster.
My ears hear the “v” sound but my eyes read *“mhthaia”*
Irish language phonetics are very different
Hey John. Recently came across your channel, and I was wondering if you have any recommendations for books to read about Irish history. I know "Irish history" is an incredibly broad ask, but maybe there's some books you know of that cover the 19th and 20th centuries of Ireland in a compelling way. Just trying to get a better understanding of Irish history. Thanks.
When do we get a history about St. Patrick?
Please do cold war (remastered edition) next
John D. Ruddy... this man has the will of D.
My church’s name is St.Columba

If Isidore could be the patron saint of the internet and Carlo Acutis that of young coders, then Columba could as well be the patron saint of the Pirate Bay and the Internet Archive.

History Ireland part Scottish
Please do a Korean War video!
Is Columba ethymology connected to Colombus? (Because I already like Columba better than Columbus and have decided that it should be Columba’s Day)
well a lot of historians think that a sixth-century irish monk called Saint Brendan arrived in america almost 1000 years before columbus. I dont think they're related in any way but it is very interesting.
Who is this?
Idk maybe I’m just unknowing of the world around me :(
