Can't afford children. Can't afford a house. Can't afford to pay off my students loans... might at well run. Fml
Run from life?
@@qualitysolidified9883Run from depression, anxiety and stress
It's a cheap sport
It ain't anymore lol all these gadgets stuff Garmin blablabla lol it's like they are inventing shit every seconds@@playtester6635
@@playtester6635 the cheapest and safest sport
More depression, anxiety and stress probably lol. People realising how much movement and running in particular helps and makes you feel good.
Running has two attractive properties: It's simple, and it has a clear goal progression. From 30min to 5km, to 10km, half-marathon, marathon. Add the social aspect and being in nature, and voila.
Not every runner want to progress to a marathon. Most don’t even want to race
yes its the cheapest and safest sport
I'm 31 and started in January this year. Best thing I have ever done. Still depressed and anxious about everything, but after a run I do feel a lot happier, and I get the best sleep of my life. Not really made any friends or community, there aren't really any run clubs (especially not ones with 20-30 somethings) around suburbia where I live, but I enjoy solo running anyway. Lost heaps of weight, looking better and it's a good distraction from the loneliness and constant BS and worry that the world shoves in our face on a daily basis.
“Lost heaps of weight” itself is worth feeling cheerful about. There are not many people who can claim to have lost heaps of weight in 4 months. Cheers! Keep running, my friend.
Ah yes. I can relate to this.
I run 5 days a week, I hate running, every moment of it. But the feeling right after is the feeling i never once had any regret
im the opposite I love running, once im done im just sad because I want to run more.
How long have you been running though? Because that hating running thing usually goes away after 3 months if you’re doing 5 days a week - and is your pace appropriately slow enough to benefit your aerobic fitness?
@@ikik1648 doing it for 3 years now, opposite for me, i enjoyed my first 3 months
Great to see more people running around the world. I started running about 8 years ago when I was 29yo in order to improve my physical and mental health and it has been a life changer for sure. For people that are starting to run the most important advice I can give you are: learn to warm up and the proper running technique this will prevent you many unnecessary pains and injuries, learn about electrolytes and hydration this is very important if you are interested in long running sessions (more than 1 hour) or live in a warm place, if you are running at night or very early in the morning make sure you are always visible to cars and people, I don't recommend using headphones for the beginner runner and if you do make sure you still hear everything around you, as in any other sport proper resting, healthy nutrition and learning to "hear" your body is a must for the best results
Started out October last year, mainly to keep in shape for hiking activities. I'm 45, I run solo, and it became my new hobby. It's a great distraction from daily worries and stress. It's not easy to start, but now I feel good after each run and I'm hooked.
So glad it’s catching on worldwide, and among people of all ages. Been running marathons the past 12 years; now (in my mid-40s) doing more mountain running these days. Two extra things not mentioned to help ward off injury are strength training and cross training. A coach can help you get a good balance.
Because it's easy and cheap.... Well depending on how serious you get into it. With pro shoes, nutrition/gels, gear etc. Ish is expensive.
In Toronto, Canada, last fall a race that never sells out sold out! I'm trying to get into the Rotterdam Marathon, and I am going to be fast on the internet button.
Running is underrated. It gives you a natural high.
Its good keep me in shape.
Great to see this. I can only see good physical and mental health benefits. As an Englishman i find the Kiwi accent very interesting. Kudos Kiwis
Glad its catching on down under!
Same here in Indonesia
Running has literally been better than therapy whenever life gets rough. It’s way cheaper too :) welcome to all the new runners 🐻
I am part of this influenced craze.
It’s relatively accessible to newbies but still has plenty to offer to intermediate and advanced runner. Cheap and healthy! Can be chill or challenging. And we can’t afford a vacation lol
But, as you are getting deep into it, it's not really that cheap with all those gears lol
@@gungde Compared to other sports and hobbies it’s definitely cheaper! Especially if you stay healthy and avoid disease and injury.
I started running over 10 years ago, best thing I’ve done 👍
We evolved to run, to travel long distance on foot. Fight/Flight is real, our nervous system knows more clearly than anything you know in your life how to run with endurance and fight like no other animal. This is only natural, people flocking to the gym and throwing plates and dumbbells around, that should be in the news
It’s in our dna deeply!
Went for a run and partially tore my achilles 😮
I'm a Kiwi living in China with my wife, started running around two years ago. Often do a half marathon a week as part of my long run, in addition to running nearly every other day, have also done a short ultra marathon. Always running solo.
Fascinating story. Being an avid runner it would be fab to fly out to NZ and meet all these wonderful runners and also film for my UA-cam content here 📸
Running is therapeutic but it is not therapy.
Run Forest Run
Joined a run club and my dating life is alive again lol - not to be shallow, but at a minimum, those who attend these events are at least fit enough to run a 5K and that’s what I’m attracted to (someone who can keep up with me at easy running pace).
the same thing happened with cycling when COVID started
You'd freeze your ass off running at 5am at the current weather.
You warm up in no time. You can wear shorts and tshirt all year round as a runner.
The same trend happening in the Philippines rn.
The girl in white had a half LA and half Australian accent. Haha
Being as close to your optimal weight as possible and being able to jog 5 km at the drop of a hat are essential for are reasonably healthy ,comfortable and long life. Physically and mentally
Why so early, dangerous
why it a rule that exercise like running must be done before sunrise. Not me sorry.
You should try running outdoors after sunrise in my country, Indonesia.. 😂
Because you can show off your hot body on instagram all year around. Used to be 2 days at the beach per year.
wtf is a kiwi, I don't get it or understand it?
A kiwi is a New Zealander
Dumb word for a nationality
It’s a fruit and also slang for someone from New Zealand
It’s like a Aussie but better
