  • In this video, I take on one of the Peak District challenges. A 22 mile walk taking in the 9 famous edges of the Peak District. The route was set up to help raise funds for Edale Mountain Rescue and forms part of an annual event where participants can either walk, run or climb the 9 gritstone edges.

Thanks Steve. It’s surprising what you can achieve with a bit of training. I couldn’t have walked those distances a couple of years ago. As I mentioned on the video, I find it’s more of a mental than physical challenge as my mind plays tricks on me as soon as I’ve planned a 20 mile plus walk!

22 miles is one heck of an achievement nice one! I think it's a great idea to do 20+ mile walks a month, as that should set you up nicely for the Pennine Way.

I look forward to watching you in your next video Anthony bursting into song! 😊 Got this image in my mind now of seeing you on Curbar Edge singing Jerusalem! 😂 Great walk Anthony, really good to have walked all those edges in a day, that's a great achievement and defo good training for the PW. Watched your walk from Crich Stand and the Cromford Canal too which I enjoyed, done a very similar route myself before now. Best of luckj to Emma in her 100 mile challenge. Have a good week. Cheers, Patrick 👍

Thanks for watching the 2 videos Patrick. I’ll not subject any of my viewers to my singing. I think it would end up on social media for all the wrong reasons 🙈. It was good to get some miles in the legs, although those uneven gritstone edge paths take their toll on the feet! I think I need to get a few long walks in the rain as that will probably best recreate some of the days I’ll face on the PW!

Thanks Greg. It was nice to join up all the edges on one walk. I knew I had to plan it around my wife’s availability to drop me off at Fairholmes. My fitness on the PW definitely improved as it went on, yet the year before, on the C to C, I seemed to deteriorate as it went on!
