Wow.. he really does a good job to make you listen to the song instead of hearing that ingrained videogame track in your mind. I have always loved the track from the game (and yes, I know its a russian folk song to begin with) but here I actually manage to disregard that, I just hear a beautiful song performed in a kickass way. :D
This man is a true master of the guitar. I my humble opinion his guitar speaks for its self but with all due respect his voice... Well ... I can't get enough of his guitar...
Conversely, because of Tetris, Korobeiniki has received a lot more exposure and appreciation throughout the world, perhaps increasing people's awareness of Russian music and culture in general. Popular culture can be a funny thing, at times :)

One of my favorite all time songs, one of the best covers ever, in fact, the best version I've heard to date (good work on including the lyrics man, -highfive-)
Yes, but I don't think a lot of people know about it as well... But we're here listening to this great cover and even if someone didn't know the origin of the song, now he knows it :) Thanks to Igor. Продолжайте в том же духе :)

when i look into the windows of igors soul i see the very essence of the spirit of god! thank you so much for your melodys in homage to the motherland. the ansesters joy is the closes they will get to mortal celibration when tuned into igors heart
None have ever truly beaten the titan of puzzles that is Tetris... Many have tried. One came close.... he got to the last level... the TRUE last level.... only to encounter the most beauteous of noises... It was too much, even for a hardcore gamer like himself. He merely cranked the volume and cried at the beauty, not even taking note of the blocks as they stacked to the ceiling.
@romek123322 The guitar has 12 strings. The strings are in courses (groupings of 2 in this case), which are very close together. This is why at a distance it can seem like the guitar only has 6 strings, where as it actually has 6 groupings of 2. Hope this clears it up a bit bud.
I mean, Tetris is a Russian game. Not to mention that maybe a lot of people who looked up "tetris theme" saw "korobeiniki" and looked that up too, and inadvertently learned about Russian folk songs! It sort of worked that way for me, though I also really enjoy Russian culture to begin with.
i've always had a weakness for other countrys folk music, like this or kalinka or traditional asian music, or arab music... idk why, it just sounds so.. SO FUCKING COOL. Fuck the racism, fuck the hatred towards other peoples nationality, just enjoy each others pressence and differences.
Hey, I'm thankful that when I was a kid I watched all those Tom and Jerry cartoons, without them I would have never gained an interest in classical music.
It are all double strings. It's impossible to see them here in this vid, but it actually are 12 separate strings, allowing for different tones coming from 'one string'
double necks often have one neck 12-string, and the other one 6. However, some guitarist prefer 2 six string necks and remove a few strings from one neck, so that string skipping gets easier for arpeggios.
Once when I was practising Für Elise on the guitar, my bro's friend overheard and exclaimed in surprise: "I know this!! It's the interphone!" :_D What can you say...
@SonHappy i know'z, :P but yeah, the song came way before the game. its an old soviet folk song. most people dont know and think the game = the creation of the song
Igor Tetrisnyakov
you're going to gulag for this one

How could 41 people dislike this. playing korobeiniki is hard enough. playing it on a 12 string even more so. Igor mastered it.

Отлично! Я хотел бы слышать, чтобы вы играли песни Высоцкого. Какой глубокий голос.
