Just went through Hurricane Beyrl and am actively researching mid size dual fuel inverter generators that are capable of running my 20.5 cubic foot fridge and maybe a 5000-6000 BTU window unit at once without puking out on the surge wattage. That little 2500 is impressive that it will power that old rooftop A/C. Too bad they don't offer them in dual fuel. Nice review!!
Westinghouse has a model up from this one that’s a dual fuel that puts out a true 30amps, I think it even had electric start. I’d look at that one on their website and you can find it cheaper on Amazon.
@@FriedChickenBlowout thanks, unfortunately a LOT of the larger Westinghouse models such as the 4000 and 4500 watt inverters are full of negative reviews and problems. Although they seem to have gotten it right on the 2000 series.
I recently got 2800watts same brand. Its a nice one, but it lasted me about 5hours on gallon of gas running 950watts portable AC. Was expecting like 7-8hours. Was checking specs and some was saying running time up to 10-12 hours on a gallon but I quess it's not. Also I don't understand why running 950watts takes only like 25%-50% of its load and running on high speed even at 25% load.
Thank you so much for the video. You said you have a Lance 865? Do you like it? I’m considering getting one. And does your generator fit on any of the outdoor storage compartments? Thank you.
The generator does not fit into the outside compartment. We pack it sitting in a moving blanket within the shower. Regarding the 865 - It's very compact and light which gives us lots of options for towing with the SRW truck without being over weight, that's the whole reason we got it. The truck does have airbags and handles nice fully loaded with an enclosed trailer loaded with motorcycles or a side by side. The tank size is spot on for what we need, many of the other campers intended for a SRW truck had too small of tanks. The solar system and single battery works well unless I can't get the fridge lit to run on gas because of our elevation - If that happens the battery will die midway through the night if I try to run the fridge on 12v and then the CO alarm triggers because the battery is dead. The wet shower is nice - No complaints. Appliances all work well, except the fridge won't run on gas over 8000 feet - We live at 6200 feet and camp between 8000-10,000 feet during the summer months. During Winter we go to Utah which is lower elevation and fridge works fine. Winter camping is no issue. We've stayed on a large lake during the winter with nighttime temps in the teens without issues and the propane last a long time with the heater. The windows are an awesome design for year round use, I like them a lot. I did build a 2x6" U-shaped frame that sits in the bed of the truck to fully center the camper so it can't move - Without it there was about a 2" shift to on side or the other - We do hours of off-road driving and I couldn't have it going back and forth the whole time. Here's the down sides... Both the heater and the AC are extremely loud and unacceptable, I think the 2023 and newer comes with a different setup but I don't know if its more quiet.. The head room for the bed is too low, you can't sit up in bed. Of course we knew that going into but I didn't realize I would have such an issue with it - Having experience with this now I would not buy this camper, I'd find something with enough space I could sit upright on the bed. The dinning area is not built well with all the pads just flopping around loose, there needs to be a better way to secure them. That's my quick summary...
