    I got one a few years back and once you season it, it's very easy to take care of. I've seen sme rust buckets after a year but they definitely never seasoned it or reseasoned it ever. I find that if you take care of the spots that always form rust easily that you wont have any issues

  • @the1plantguy
    @the1plantguy 4 роки тому +1

    I have a 10 year old Horizon smoker. All the paint cracked/rusted off the outside and the inside is SHINEY black from all the smoke buildup(resin). It it rusted on some parts(bottom of barrel and sides basically the whole lower half) but thats to be expected because I used 100% wood to cook on and I would burn up all my seasoning after the first use. Even high temp paint doesn’t stay on the outside.

    • @RidgeLife
      @RidgeLife  4 роки тому

      Very true! I’m thinking an occasional oiling of surfaces the don’t get cooking grease and often rust. We often hear of the bottom falling out. I guess you get what you pay for too (or make!). Thx

    • @the1plantguy
      @the1plantguy 4 роки тому +1

      RidgeLife for sure. This thing is far from failing though. It is warranted for life and its made with 1/4” plate steel. Lol. It will take a while to rust through.

      Canola oil is very unhealthy for your diet but great for seasoning your grill/smoker because it is superior with high heat. Only use it for this purpose, not in your food.
