My tip as an Angeleno: Book an Airbnb in West LA. West LA is in the thick of things and you will be able to get to Beverly Hills or Abbot Kinney in 15 minutes by car. Try to get an Airbnb within 4-5 blocks of the Expo Line. That way, you can get to the heart of Santa Monica Beach or Downtown LA in 20 minutes. So basically book something close to the intersection of Pico & Sepulveda!
Thanks for mentioning that. Now can you answer another question: where does the devil live? I'm serious. In the TV show "Lucifer," he owns a penthouse that is over his nightclub in LA. Does that actual building exist? If I'm ever in LA, I'd love to get a picture of it.
I live in Beverly Hills. Rodeo Drive is actually more than three blocks long as it is mostly residential. It's just famous for that three-block stretch of stores. Many old movie and TV stars homes are very viewable like Lucille Ball, Peter Falk and others. Also, if you do want to see a star, then go to a hair salon as they do go to them, but the salons won't let you hang around. The finest restaurants are on Canon, Beverly and in the hotels. The best time to take photos on Rodeo and other places is before 9:00 a.m. Great video.
Free Parking tip! If you only want to take pictures of the Beverly Hills sign and walk down Rodeo Drive, park on the street of Cannon Drive. It's just north of the Beverly Hills sign next to the mansions, maybe a minute or two away from the sign. I parked there and walked all around Rodeo Drive, took pictures of the sign, and came back in an hour. No tickets or issues
Thanks for making such a unique & ultra appealing location not JUST for the Ultra Rich or Famous but a cool experience just to be a part of for even a brief taste of one of the world's Exclusive yet SEE or BE SEEN "MOMENTS" of a Lifetime!
I have a funny memory of Beverly Hills. When my sister and I were younger, we were in a jewelry store on Rodeo Drive along with our dad. A very pretentious store clerk was talking to us in a ridiculous accent that sounded like a mixture of Moira’s from “Schitt’s Creek” and Frank’s from “Father of the Bride.” My sister later asked dad: “Dad, what kind of accent is that?” My dad responded: “Made up.” Beverly Hills described in two words.
I remember going to Los Angeles and my friends took some tour to famous houses or something to hopefully see celebrities. I didn't care and went to a Dodgers game. What was funny was at the end, I saw someone famous at the game and my friends didn't. And in case you're wondering who, it was Jennifer Love Hewitt (sorry about the spelling and I'm not sure if she's really famous anymore).
Right now the best celebrity sightings are at the picket lines, but a lot of the big names are just showing up for 15 minutes, bringing some coffee and donuts, grabbing a picket sign, walk it for a bit, chat with some of the picketers and take some selfies, get interviewed by some media outlet and they just go "keep it up guys" and split. I think they're required to be at the strike just for documentation reasons and so they can keep getting their benefits. Some of the actors crossing picket lines are probably going to wind up working in indie movies because they're going to get kicked out of the Guild.
A really nice place (and free) to check out at Beverly Hills is the public library. It’s nice and quaint and there’s almost always something going on there, and if not there is a really neat used bookstore.
I visited once, 3 years ago to the day actually. I was in this cafe to buy a water and use the restroom. I looked up and saw a guy and said “That guy dresses like Ozzy Osbourne”. I turned around to walk out the door and saw Sharon Osbourne then I said to my friend “Well, he dresses like Ozzy because he is Ozzy” 😂 Was way too scared to ask for a picture.
My kids and I vacationed in Beverly Hills at least once a year for over a decade and my daughter went to college in LA and we’ve never seen any type of gate to keep anyone out at any shop on rodeo Drive. The Beverly Hills Hotel is our favorite place to stay and the bar at the Polo Lounge is maybe our favorite. We usually opt for the more affordable Crescent Hotel.
Harriet and i visited Los Angeles back in December. Window shopping is our speed. However, the food was fabulous albeit a liitle pricey. Harriet and I thought that the Grove shopping Center in Los Angeles on Grove Drive near La Brea had a better vibe. Kid Friendly as well. You were spot on with the don'ts of visitiing Beverly Hills . If you’re just visiting for a day as a local or a tourist, you can park at the MGM Place underground parking lot on Saturdays and Sundays for only a $2.00 flat rate from 8am until 10pm. Sure, you’ll be walking most places, but, you’ll get exercise and save money! Saturday is best day of the week to walk-and-shop in Beverly Hills, because some places are closed on Sundays.
