As a devotee of the 327 Fed Mag cartridge, I will give some thoughts that expand on some of the things that you have said. 327 Fed Mag is roughly 90% the power of 357 with 70% of the recoil. As 327 is basically 8mm in diameter compared to 357 which is 9mm, you need a higher velocity to achieve that power. The flexibility of a revolver chambered for 327 allows you to pick your power loading which our creator has mentioned. 327FM is analogous to 357 with the exception of the heavier bullet weights available for 357. 32H&R Magnum is analogous to 38 Special +P, possibly slightly more in power. 32 S&W Long is like a big 22LR in recoil. However it will have more power than that and for some reason 32 S&W Long is extraordinarily accurate. Our host also talks about allowing for more rounds comparative to 357/38. This isn't just for small revolvers. A normal six shot 357 will allow seven of 327FM. I have a GP 100 with a 4.2inch barrel and it comes with seven rounds of 327. The seven round 357 GP-100 would have at least eight rounds of 327. There are a number of people (though I will still say that we are the minority unfortunately) that are clamoring for an eight round normal sized revolver. Unfortunately either due to marketing or apathy, it is hard to get people to realize the benefits of this cartridge in full sized revolvers as well. They only seem to think of it in snub nosed revolvers which is unfortunate. Whether it is the American Eagle 100 Grain jacketed soft point or the Buffalo Bore 130 hard cast, I have no problem using this revolver as a backwoods gun where I don't have to worry about Moose or Brown Bear. One curiosity for me is that people continually try to shoot 32ACP but no one has thought to try 30 Super Carry. Now I wouldn't try that in a revolver that was less than 327FM, but it might be an interesting experiment as it had to have been derived from 327FM for an automatic pistol. Both have pressures of approximately 45,000psi so the strength should be there. Let me know if anyone ever decides to do this. If it works, maybe we can get Taurus to make a 692 with eight rounds of 327FM and the extra cylinder could be 30SC.

The SP 101 frame size seems to be in between S&W J frame and K-Frame : Not sure if they designed it that way: Love my S&W model 10 but that SP-101 4 inch barrel was perfect.
Definitely a lighter bullet range than the .357 Magnum/ .38 special. BUT... for defensive use against two legged critters, the trade off is ok for me. For the woods, I still like a heavy .357 Magnum hardcast in a 4", full sized revolver. Just a different "tool" in the toolbox lol
Neither Ruger is designed to fire 32 ACP. I wonder if someone makes a moon clip for the application anyway. I had a LCRx in 9mm and loved it, but wanted more than 5 shot capacity , so traded it in on a Bersa Thunder 380, which I am pretty happy with, but change out when in the woods.
LCR in 327 is my EDC. I have an old sp101 like yours, and I just picked up the Lipsey SP101 this week in 327. Blued, with half lug. Beautiful gun. I have a 357, and 22 in the LCR as well. The trigger on the LCR is light yrs ahead of anything out there. The new one I just picked up has the same Long stacked pull as my old SP. Thought they may've gone with the newer design of the LCR.
I’ve considered this cartridge, or the .32 H&R magnum, for CCW, but finding self defense ammunition in my area has been extremely challenging. It seems logical that as manufacturers are struggling to keep up with demand for standard calibers, these calibers will be dead last on any production agendas. Maybe time will tell.
I love the 327 federal magnum!! The 32 H&R mag is underpowered, 327 federal mag is what the magnum should have been. Reloading is 327 is the way to go! I prefer 85 grain bullets
@@erikjensen6503 I just watched a video about well....this. a hooting 32hr mag and 32s&w longs out 327 guns. I am going to get a 327 for my daughter. Those 32hr mags really impressed me in the tests. She can practice with whatever I can find, but carry 327 for protection. She can shoot a 357 mag, but she doesn't like it. I don't blame her. This looks like an awesome choice for her. I have a little .380 that I was going to give her, but I don't want her getting a jam under stress. (Semiauto)
Are you familiar with the Gun Sam Revolver Aficionado channel? He's a 327 Federal advocate as far as carry (or 32 H&R Mag). He has an LCR in 327 as well as a number of other caliber revolvers and autos. He does ballistics comparisons. I can attest to the unpleasantness of 357 Magnum in a J-Frame. It's made me bleed. That is not fun. 38 Spl +P is no big deal (most loads). But the 327 does give you that extra round. It may be purely psychological, but having a full six is sure to feel better than having just five. As far as CC goes, I believe a small revolver is tough to beat. It's comfortable to carry, doesn't care how you hold it, and is reliable in just about any situation.
So, interestingly enough, I 💩 talked the 30 Super Carry when it came out. I have since retracted that and am "cautiously optimistic." Personally, I'd like to get something like the CZ P07 chambered in it rather than the limited options out now, but I think it could be a solid option. Unfortunately, it will suffer from the same ailments of the 327 and family- poor ammo availability compared to more mainstream offerings.
It's the same diameter caliber, and a thoroughly modern semi-auto case firing it. But with all the 9mm-cocaine addicts out there, it's hard for good things to get traction. And like a lot of drugs, the people using them will not be convinced they aren't worth the hype.
Unfortunately, the 30 SC has not caught on and is doomed to oblivion, like the 41 AE, 357 Sig., 45 GAP, to name a few. The 32 H&R mag is making a comeback of sorts thanks to S&W, Charter Arms, and Taurus chambering new revolvers for it.
@@PassivePortfolios I wonder how many people named a cartridge and pronounced its doom, only for it to continue on in some smaller way 20+ years later...
It was more a scare than anything. BP shot up out of the blue one afternoon- 212/134 and I got a sharp pain in my neck. ER trip turned up nothing wrong. So months of testing and appointments with the final conclusion being a panic attack "or something." In short, no one knows, and it hasn't happened again. I'd like to try the carnivore diet, honestly. Just not sure that my wife is onboard and the logistics of cooking different things for me, her, and the kids wouldn't be fun 😂
@ArchetypeofMan It's the same for me. My kids like their soda and bread. But they also like salmon, eggs, and steak. Just make sure you have all kinds of carnivore foods in the house. Including butter. And let yourself run out of bread and soda once in a while. We no longer have vegetable oil, cookies, ice cream, and breakfast cereal in the house. Kids learn from example. And it's possible your wife might see a change in your mood and energy. Definitely don't try to talk them into it. It turns out that the healthiest diet is the opposite of what we've been told. My wife was taking blood pressure medications. She passed shortly after her booster. She was a nurses aide.
I'm so sorry about your wife's passing. 🥺 It does seem like the commonly accepted health and diet advice leaves a lot to be desired. The folks I know personally who are on the Carnivore diet seem to be doing exceedingly well
I think Taurus-Rossi-Heritage failed a lot of us by not chambering their R92s and the new "Deputy" SA revolver in this caliber. I'd buy one of each in a heartbeat. But here it is the latter part of 2024 and I have yet to see a single box of the ammo or a handgun chambered for it on shelves anywhere in our area or outside our area for that matter. I know that if the ammo did not exist there would be no firearms of any kind chambered for it still being produced. Fact is I think The Lovely Bride would be very happy with a quality six shot revolver in .327 Federal Magnum as her daily carry.
As someone who works at a gun store in the past couple of months I’ve seen a noticeable uptick in availability in the 32 calibers. 32 long is usually available, but HR magnum has become more available since S&W dropped their new 32HR Jframe, and now Ruger is producing the SP101s in 327 again I’ve seen the 327 become more available. If I was you I’d go to your local gun shop and let them know you are interested in it, it’s not something most places will carry simply because there isn’t a perceived demand for it but they should be able to get you a couple boxes or keep a box or two available for you
@@JayReacio Thanks for the advice! By the way, what state is your store located in? The Lovely Bride and I would not be averse to a road trip for a good cause.

I have a Taurus 327. I've become a big fan of the .32s. .327 is about as much magnum as I'm willing to get in a revolver; .357 and .44 have too much recoil for me.
9mm polymer striker fired pistols are a boring fad that will die off. You would think that is the only caliber and only type of firearm even made anymore. I think a lot of newcomers came in post Obama and took over the community. I've been doing this since 1982 and we mostly shot and used 1911 .45 ACPs, Browning Hi-Power 9mms, Walther PPK .380 ACPs, S&W, Ruger, Colt, Charter Arms .38 Spl/.357 Magnum, .44 Spl/.44 Magnum revolvers back then. In the late 80s (1986 - 1988ish) all the SA/DA wonder 9mms became very popular however everybody still owned, used and liked all the older stuff too. The .40 S&W and 10mm became very popular after the wonder 9mms fizzled out in the early 90s and the .40 S&W was still extremely popular until around 2015/17ish. That's generally not the case anymore and most of these people don't even own a .22LR or a shotgun anymore either. It's 9mm and 5.56 and that's about it. That's going to come back to haunt you in the end because you put all your eggs in one basket. That is severely handicapping and limiting yourself by doing so. You know none of these people are hunters or outdoorsman either. You aren't going to be "hunting" with your polymer striker fired 9mm pistol. They aren't even the best or very good at target shooting. Nothing like a tuned and custom 1911 .45 or a tuned and custom revolver are that's for sure.
I turned 18 the year Obama was elected. A lot of the push to 9mm is centered around the fact that it's available, guns are commonly chambered in it, it's easy to shoot well comparatively. One could easily name a half dozen or more calibers that perform better in testing, but at the end of the day, where the bullet goes is more important than what the bullet is. I'd say the average person can go from novice to proficiency (as it pertains to defensive shooting) for a whole lot less money spent if they use a 9mm vs other calibers. Once that proficiency is gained, it's perishable, so continued practice and training is needed. So the economy of the 9mm helps there too. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE .357 Magnum/ .38 Special, and obviously, the .327 Federal Magnum. I also have a soft spot in my heart for .45 ACP and .44 Magnum. BUT, as a reloader, those niche or hobby calibers make more sense for me. If I had to start over tomorrow, a 9mm would be the first handgun I'd get. Not a striker fired one, granted, as I love my double action semi-autos.

Agreed on the too light projectiles in factory ammo. I cast and load my own, so I'm currently running 137gr SWC in my .327s. I'm a fan.
It's a good one but I prefer the model with the 4.25" barrel to get a bit more velocity, adjustable sights and longer sight radius.
Salute 🫡 awesome video
Only if Goldilocks is a strong, thick girl. That sucker is a tank.
You mean like a momma bear?
LCR in 327 is my EDC. I have an old sp101 like yours, and I just picked up the Lipsey SP101 this week in 327. Blued, with half lug. Beautiful gun. I have a 357, and 22 in the LCR as well. The trigger on the LCR is light yrs ahead of anything out there. The new one I just picked up has the same Long stacked pull as my old SP. Thought they may've gone with the newer design of the LCR.
Got a Taurus 327. I'm a big fan.
Hungry Handgunner rules
Thank you! :)
327 magnum nice round.i see your point in j frame 357 only 5 327 magnum holds 6 good idea. redhawk 357 holds 8.
Good video! SP101 does great with 357. I don’t have a SP101 in 327. When you load 327 Fed Mag are you still using Win 231?
So far, yes. That, and I've used Alliant 2400. But mostly 231
Thank you for showing us the revolver is clear. Safety first. Thank you for setting an example.
You betcha! Glad you caught that!
I'm partial to 100 grain bullets myself, but I wouldn't thumb my nose at the 85s either lol
It's comfortable to carry, doesn't care how you hold it, and is reliable in just about any situation.
so i viewed many 327 videos. not one used a speed loader. look close they are not cut out for a speed loader
1500 fps is advertised velocity out of 4 inch barrel.
I'm not having any problems finding 327 Fed HSTs or Hornady 327 ammo.
Thoughts on the 327 mag semi-auto analog, the 30 super carry?
So, interestingly enough, I 💩 talked the 30 Super Carry when it came out. I have since retracted that and am "cautiously optimistic."
Personally, I'd like to get something like the CZ P07 chambered in it rather than the limited options out now, but I think it could be a solid option.
@@exothermal.sprocket there are plenty who failed but continued to sell tiny amounts of ammo. Expensive and hard to find ammo.
Health issues? Two words. Carnivore diet. Love the .327.
Some gun writers actually say the .380 is ok for conceal carry, self defense…Haaa. I have two ..327 magnum revolvers….to me, for a revolver, great for self defense….too much bs made of recoil…. Thanks
Oops!! i meant 20 thosands!! haha!! old eyes!
I have a Taurus 327. I've become a big fan of the .32s. .327 is about as much magnum as I'm willing to get in a revolver; .357 and .44 have too much recoil for me.
Nice gun ,but no weird expensive, and unobtainable calibers
So nothing but 9mm and 5.56 right? Are you a post Obama gun owner by chance?! They ALL are.....

Good lord, I bought guns brand new before you were even born and still own them today. Sheesh, you even look older than 3/4 of the people telling me off on here all the time as well.
Hope you’re well GOD BE WITH YOU
BTW, you need to try some Fed HST rounds. They're a handful out of the LCR. Yawee!
