This is very similar to corn grits served in the southern states. They can be a breakfast hot cereal, or served as a replacement for fried potatoes. My mother would let them setup in a loaf pan in the refrigerator. Next morning she would slice the loaf into slabs, fry them in butter, pour on maple syrup and we had Sunday breakfast. We loved what she called Fried Mush.
