Now that watch your videos for garden tips, I get impatient when I watch videos about other things I am learning about… like beekeeping. You are no nonsense, right to the point. No rambling on and on at Viking Headquarters. Thanks so much for that.
Perfect timing Nate! My kale is under ATTACK! Thank you for going the extra mile to explain not only WHY but HOW to use these remedies. Your energy and skills are miles above others!🌱❤
Good, straight to the point video. One year I even used the BT on my corn for the corn worms; all the ears were absolutely perfect, until the raccoons visited while I was out of town for the weekend. Thanks again brother.
Hi from Southern England. This came at the perfect time as your videos often do. It’s the first year we have had this problem with our greens. I’ll be purchasing this right now before it’s too late! Many thanks for your ongoing dedication and hard work putting this information out there for us all!
The hornworm also gets my peppers! I also battle powdery mildew and ever root rot and rust you can fathom. Yay Zone 8a/b. 😅 love your content. Thank you so much for being informative but down to earth. Appreciate you!
I grew up on a commercial nursery, We were required, by the state of Ohio, to have BT sprayed on all of our property. Gypsy Moths. Very early mornings they sprayed by crop duster. Everyone woke up early that day 😅
SoHum!!... stacking them is a good idea I'll try that if need be... blocks are amazing for many plants but I've found not all of them like to be planted that way.... thank you!
@carolstrickland6979 I gently open 4 small holes around main stem with a sewing needle. Then use a blunt tip syringe to inject the b t.the main stem is hollow fill it up.
I like what you said about HOW you plant your garden and diversification in the beds having an impact. Would love to see a garden planning video and your thought process! Starting to prepare for autumn in 9a 😊
Yes me as well! I did read that the cabbage moth will have to land on like 3 brassicas before it will lay its eggs. So I usually do two then a marigold or something in between! Dill is also a good one to put in between bc it attracts the predator wasps!
At first i thought the tomato Horn worm had eaten NATE'S palm! Then on closer in spection saw it was a dried leaf! 😂 LOL Thank you for your detailed description of and straight to the point video. No beating around the bush nonsense. Most definitely will be sharing this video. As always! Love all your videos. Much gratitude and appreciation for the hard work, time you spend preparing, experimenting to the end product, seen by us. 💚🌿💚🌿💚🌿💚🌿💚🌿💚🌿💚
YEA! I Just released thousands of green lacewing eggs in 3 of my garden areas plus the greenhouse. The larvae look like like tiny alligators and I'm told they are voracious eaters of aphids, mealybugs, scales--all sorts of nasty stuff, but they're not exactly going to take on a tomato hornworm lol. So I checked, and the BT you're recommending Nate, well like you said, the bacterium are very specialized and will not harm my little beneficials who won't fly away like the ladybugs do because they actually grew up here and with the aphid issues I'm dealing with, their new home will definitely provide well for them. Many thanks again Nate!!! (sending you a raven).
@@gardenlikeaviking You're most welcome! I got the eggs from Arbico Organics. One version comes in a container while the other comes with the eggs stuck to a card you hang from plant stems. The hanging ones haven't hatched yet but we've been dealing with an extended heat wave. Just an FYI...
Привет Нейт, мы в России используем препарат .бетоксибацилин на основе этих бактерий и сами их размножаем на картофельном отваре, особенность их в том при выращиваннии, что надо резко охлаждать.ограничивать рост окислением, эффект будет лучше❤
Nate. This is very helpful. You're not spraying anything except the brassicas at night and the separation of one kind of plant here and there keep pests confused. Pics of pests at different life stages 👍. Meanwhile here: Bird and lots of predictor insects working along with frogs keeping everything in check. We'll be on the lookout for worms. White cabbage butterflies doing the dance here as well but not the amount like you have. Thanks for sharing.
good timely show Nate, mine are all netted, just have to do an evening egg check round the edges, brassicas got so big this yr due to few hot days they're pushing on the netting
Excellent video! Was told that we needed to cover our crops, but we began using BT on our broccoli this year, and very little pest issues. Do you recommend to spray during a routine schedule at night or only when you begin seeing damage? We also use Spinosad as well, alternating with BT. What are you thoughts on using Spinosad? Thank you again!
I just love your videos, i look forward to them. Question: earthworms are all up in my cabbage heads business. They’re most certainly Not cabbage worms, they are earthworms and there are so many i just toss the cabbage heads to my duck and chickens….any clue how to make this stop? I figure if anyone knows it’s probably you. Thank you!
I’m in support of a more natural permaculture or interplanting! I’m moving my garden in that direction and will be ready for that in the spring. How do you think I can use mint plant I’ve got growing here in my JDAM? Ideas on how to infuse it?
I am having an issue right now with them eating my radish leaves. I went out at night with a black UV flashlight (they glow) and identified the culprit just to make sure. Sprayed BT and it stopped the problem. Great information Nate thank you! Question, does it prevent the white butterfly from laying the eggs in the first place or just on the worms?
Hi Nate. Love your videos thank you! Wondering if you know of anything similar that would work for worms inside eggplant fruit. Ours were full of pink worms last year. Thank you

Too late to start more collards? My whole collard crop was decimated a month ago. I was going to give collards and chard another go. My mustard is kickin' ass, very pest resistant, but my ducks love collards and comfrey.
I read that you can make a solution with garlic and water and spray it on the leaves and the caterpillar won't eat because it doesn't like the smell of garlic. Had anyone tried this?

With that said... research it out. Like you said at the beginning. “I had my doubts on this product” and your best instinct is your first. Thanks Nate
@@user-wq3jp3qg1o ok my friend I went to the website and searched bacillus thuringiensis and cannot find a suitable or relevant article can you please point me to one that I can read that illustrates your point?
If you spray in foggy or cloudy weather with less UV, will it last longer? How many years is a bottle of the stuff good? Does it survive freezing over winter for use next year?
I can't say for sure as this is my first full year using this stuff so I don't know the answers yet but I would still apply it at night if possible but cloudy is better than full sun

Neem oil and Castile soap. It's all I use.
Do you need a wetting agent with the BT?
Just came across you page! Great info but where did you get that spray. 😂😂😂

once they get inside there's no stopping them organically IME
@gardenlikeaviking thanks for your reply is there something I can spray to stop them before they get inside the fruit?
BT is also very effective for leek moth. I sprayed every 7 to 10 days and all my alliums are saved.
this is wonderful to know thank you!!
I hope I used the right BT. I literally just came in from spraying 😅 at least i got the at night part right
