Awesome!! Unbelievable how some evidently use raw potatoes, some just squish cooked ones in their hands etc. I finally tried your method tonite and got it set into a55 gallon drum. I assume I use this solution, diluted , all, then each week make a new brew. A great way to use up the leftover stored potatoes in the basement, and building life in the soil where they came from!!!

There are commercial variants of this. I use one made from straw. The bacteria there fight pathogenic fungi and help save plants from things like damping off. I heard you can make a similar one from yoghurt.

& I didn’t have salt but I did have some sugar so Iused that
I couldn’t find leaf mold but I did find some black mold in my basement so I used that

Concentrated IMO's are awesome for building the health of your soil. It doesn't matter what region you live in, unless you don't have access to naturally occurring leaf mold.
Yes you can make something similar underneath a compost pile, however it's just not quite the same thing.

You can't store it, the microbes need food to survive, that's why you use it at it's peak (largest bubbles). When you need more, make a new batch.

This is a anaerobic preparation and what good it can be if sprayed as after spraying it will get aerobic and the anaerobic microbescwill get defunct.
It's more complicated than that. Many microbes are both aerobic and anaerobic. Also ask yourself what happened to all the anaerobic microbes? Did they evaporate from the bucket? Nope, they're in there and will come out of dormancy when conditions are right.

This was the first year I used JMS over and over and over again. It was SO much work to water by hand, ( I am still using it) but MY GOODNESS...the soil is teeming with earthworms! Do you know why? What in the JMS do the earthworms love?

I was wondering if there is a minimum amount of water required to get consistent results for jms.
I only need about 1 liter but make 2/3 liters. I don't always get good foam.
actually I would stick with making it in the 5gal bucket and using the right proportions... then you can use the rest to simply apply to the land wherever you have no plants yet but will in the future... full strength .... its a great soil conditioner!

I want to use the JADAM method for wildlife food plots for hunting purposes. Any recommendations on what to use on an acre of land? I have 3 50 gallon drums brewing tea with turnip/radish mix right now.

absolutely!... thats actually the best option but you don't even need it daily... make it once a week or every two weeks and administer it within a few hour period so it doesn't begin to die off

unfortunately it doesn't work that way with this even though it seems like it should.... there's a lot more than just the food source being depleted its also maximum capacity for waste products created by the IMO's and O2 depletion and acidification happens if we try to add more potatoes

SO, the nearest forst is 2 hours away from Vegas home...so let me ask you this. What if you have some great natural compost, worm manure, or a handfull of leafs from a tree on your property , or in my case pine needles that have been laying around for years ? would that suffice, does it have to be leaf mulch from a forest. I get that you want to reproduce the goodness and richness of that soil on your land but can we modify this part of it. Thank you so much. YOU HAVE THE BEST VIDEOS EVER!
ok for you in the desert do this: Gather as much green living organic material as you can... place it in a pile directly on the earth about 4 feet wide by a foot or two tall... place a tarp over that to keep it moist and block out the light... after 3 weeks there will be white fluffy mycelium growing at the point where the material meets the earth... scrape this up and use it... that is how you capture local indigenous microorganisms
How do you get pressure from jms to able to use garden sprayer?
I'm curious if you've used this on houseplants. As I grow more and more "finicky" plants, I'm learning that it's the soil health that is most important for success. If you have healthy soil, the care is easy. But a container is a closed (and often small) environment, so do I need to to adjust the strength? Dilute it more? Apply at a different frequency?

I just use blue miracle grow to get my plants growing faster in the beginning, then apply 10-10-10, chicken manure fertilizer from Menards, and gypsum. After the tomatoes start growing I then use cardboard not the shiny stuff covering all exposed soil , and then apply last fall’s leaves from neighbors on the cardboard. This keeps the soil more evenly moist so the tomatoes don’t go from feast to famine. During the growing season I switch to the Alaska fetishized emulsion for feedings.
The fall leaves prevent the tomatoes from that yellow leaf fungus because I get no splash up from the soil onto the plants from rain or watering. Plant the tomatoes deep so you don’t have to water as much.
I’m going to try your DYI fertilizer in the big barrel with grass or weeds because that’s so logical. I’m excited to try that. I’ve done organic gardening only previously for 20 years. My mother gave me a box of miracle gro and I was impressed especially getting the plants off to a faster start in the beginning. Then I got 10-10-10 and experienced very good results. The summers are short here in Minnesota so the faster they take off is very important. Oh I forgot I use wood ash in everything that grows in my yard that to helps. I enjoy your videos.
That is great. Miracle Grow has had such a bad rap lately. I try to be organic but there are times when a quick fix is just that and it works.

I have a question, Instead of throwing away a batch past Its prime could you instead feed it more of the potato slurry? It seems to me it's dying from starvation, so if you fed it it would stay alive and continue its course. kinda like a Sourdough Starter?
You'd probably need more water for space to expand as well, and guessing growth wouldn't take long to complete as assuming you don't let it die back it should already be full of microbial organisms, so it will use the new resources and start starving again quickly. So could see it could be required to repeat pretty regularly.

Here's my question: Have you heard of using JADAM for bioremediation? I have a couple sites on my homestead where people just dumped stuff, or burned and melted Lord only knows what, or redid their subfloor and just tossed the plywood out the back door... 🤨 Anyway, I'm looking to clean up the soil and wondered if you thought this would be helpful in removing all those lovely toxins? (BTW, that mound of plywood is half rotten.. thinking of mounding dirt and planting non edibles for mulch?) Any of your vast wisdom or knowledge would be greatly appreciated! Thanks and God Bless!
There is a guy doing electro culture who uses DC power pulses with sun flowers and it pulls all the lead toxins from out of the ground . Now electro culture can be natural as well harness the earth’s magnetic field or you use DC current which China is doing getting 200% better growth and 75% less fertiliser.
I can't remember any specific plants but there are plants that work exceptionally well at pulling toxins out of the soil. Maybe do a covercrop mix of these plants and mix in the jms to boost it, adding additional carbon to the system will also help, if your familiar with biochar this is a perfect combo to add with the jms

yes because these practices focus on the life in the soil and if you have thriving soil then it doesn't matter what plant its for they will all thrive!

Hey Nate! Started some sweet potatoes for slips the way you showed (obviously not exactly though ,lol) and they are just soft and and a little rotten. In this scenario is there any point in boiling it or can I just smoosh them right up and start some JMS? (I guess the question is the boiling is just to soften the potato, right?) yes primarily the purpose of boiling is just to soften and help dissolve the food source for the microbes... but I always boil just to be certain

Hello my friend here is my question with request to include in your Saturday Q & A program.
I am from Pakistan in an area having weather zone 10a 10b. Our soil, where I am farming, is sandy and mostly barren having very little or no NPK and organic matter.
Please tell how can I get good yield, even on first year, of wheat, canola and vegetables using JADAM JLF and JMS. If you can kindly explain me step by step. Can we opt the same JLF and JMS application plan for all types of crops.

so long as you keep it covered and moist and breathable... it will last a long time... its best to acquire fresh each season but if you have to use it from 2 or 3 years it will still be just fine so long as you've not let it dry out

yes this solution is made every two weeks and applied to soil with plants in the ground at 1 to 20 ratio but the rest of it can be applied 1 to 1 to soil without plants currently in the ground or to any soil you wish to improve or also onto the compost pile
Is it possible to just keep feeding the original bucket so we don’t have to go through that all the time? What environment could we keep the bucket in while continuing to feed so it stays viable?
@@ozarkvalley6325 unfortunately there is no way to keep this going... so many factors come in to play... this must be made fresh each time... luckily its super easy to make!
@@gardenlikeaviking You can definitely keep this going, all you have to do is leave 10-20% and fill it with water and add more potatoes or any starch. Personally, I use wheat flour because it is easier and cheaper.

yes pour this into the biochar container along with a food source like the fish fertilizer or some manure preferably horse or cow but rabbit goat sheep chicken works too

I made my first batch and unfortunately timed it wrong with the weather. The JMS was ready when it down poured rain all day and night. Next day-plants don’t need water…so the question is-do I still use old JMS? If so, do I dilute differently?
You should've used it in the rain, the microbes will still go down in the soil...even better in the rain IMHO. Remember, you're not waiting until the plants are thirsty, you are inoculating the soil with microbes that will live in the soil long after you've watered it.

I am farming about 1200 acres organically and would like to use KNF practices on my farm have you heard of anybody doing it on that scale?
You make Microbial solution with leaf mold and potatoes to grow out the beneficial bacteria and fungi, and when you make a JADAM Liquid Fertilizer, you also use leaf mold… What do you think about making a five gallon bucket of MS and pouring that in to your desired JLF? Particularly at the start of a new drum? Or even periodically pouring a cup of MS into your already established JLF?
that can be beneficial yes but its not a replacement for the actual leaf mold... the leaf mold will remain established for a long time and begin to help colonize the entire JLF.... but the JMS is not the same and it would not give us the long term effect we need for the JLF....

no never for this brew... we also make specifically Aerated Compost Tea but that is totally different from this procedure

then there's no way to tell exactly when its at its peak... we never use a bubbler for this brew... I'll be showing a couple this summer where we use a bubbler but its different than this...

Is there a substitute for leaf mold? Or anything not outside that would contain bugs? Also would this work for COCO Coir growing? Sometimes i heard salts can build up in them but idk doing my best to learn
leaf mold is best as it has all the microbes you want. I'm not sure how it would work with only coco coir, honestly. The salt you add is such a small amount, and it's used for the trace minerals, so only high quality sea salt should be used.

I am really struggling and I could use help. I have made this twice with distilled water each time. The first time I didn’t use a strainer bag and I just put everything together and I think I missed the height of the microbial activity, but I did get bubbles in all 35 gallon buckets so I know something happened. I strained out the particles and reused that water and this time I made the jaw with the leaf mold and the potato salt mixture in a paint strainer as specspecifically instructed it’s been almost 24 hours and I’ve gotten zero microbial activity. What am I doing wrong because my plants are infested and becoming disease and I am about to lose everything I’ve spent weeks and hundreds of dollars on.

Does anyone know if this stuff is okay to use in a potted lemon tree? I bought a tree from a garden centre and it has a lot of the chemical fertilizer in it. I was hoping this can help fix the soil in the pot.
yes you can use the JMS to help establish the right MO's in the pot... dilute the JMS 20x and water very excessively until the liquid runs out the bottom

I hurriedly made two buckets worth yesterday before rushing off to work. Because I was in a hurry I didn’t filter the solids out and just put everything into the buckets, figuring I’ll just filter it before diluting and spraying into the garden soil, and adding the solids to my gigantic compost piles. I took the buckets inside over night to keep them warm, put them outside in the sun today (it’s 60f here in SE Missouri today)
I just temped the buckets and one is 81.3f the other one is 85.6f. Is it supposed to heat itself up like compost?
no that heat is mostly from solar radiation of being in the sun... stay keen on when the bubbles are peaking and add the whole thing to the bed and you're good to go!

Hello! My JMS died back too soon, before I had time to use it up fully. What do I do with the whole lot now. I have watched some other videos on this subject. They have different views. Some even advise to throw it in the compost pile. I need YOU to advise, plz. I suppose they could still be used somehow?
if you have a compost pile then pour it on that as there is still some microbial activity but not much and it doesn't have a great amount of nutrients in it so the best is to compost it as that will definitely be beneficial to the pile!

well this solution has billions of mycorrhizal spores in it yes... but the only thing that can increase mycorrhizal fungi in the soil is a living root in the ground... only a living root can produce the exact types of sugars the fungi like to eat and so yes inoculate with this but then immediately get a living root into the ground .... cover crops then veggies then back to cover crops is the way to do it

I'm in the PNW in coastal redwoods. We rarely have 70 degree days, do you just let it go longer? Or is my climate too cold? Also, my old trees are redwoods and spruce will the detritus from these conifers work or is it too acidic? Thank you, always looking for ways to better garden.
I lived in the mountains of Humboldt for a number of years directly in the midst of a Redwood grove... my heart will alway be there!... yes you can use that ancient leaf mould because thats what thrives in your area and climate... Using redwood mould is actually how I learned to make all these brews from the old timers in the mountains so yes it works great... and yes just let it go until you see the proper amount of foam as it is in this video... it will work just leave it in the warmest spot possible

no this particular liquid must be made fresh each time it is used... its well worth it!
I am seriously confused about something, I wonder if someone can help. To make JWA+JS for powdery mildew it says in the chart. In Korean 20L, then JWA 500ml, then JS 60ml. What does that mean? 20 Litres of water, then 500ml JWA then 60ml JS. Also then when you get mix right, what area does this cover? Excuse my stupidity...I just don't get it.

Would it be worthwhile to make a second batch of the JMS but adding oxygen to the mix like you add for aerated compost tea?
Would that allow different microbes to propagate?
No because we need to be able to tell exactly when the Brew is at its peak that is why we need to pay close attention to the foam and the air bubbler totally ruins that ability… If you have a bubbler it's best to make actual aerated compost tea from the video I recently made in my experience it is even better than this solution

I've also used the excess I make as a sort of drain cleaner straining out any chunks and pouring the excess down my drains
I have well water not town water, so I don't worry about chlorine or other chemicals, should I still use only rainwater?
well water can be extremely "hard" and it can be problematic... rainwater is 0ppm and always "soft".... for this particular brew you'll pry be ok to use well water

Hi my friend. Can I use the JMS for fruit trees as well and in what ratio? Also can I reuse the leaf mould after the initial brew? So for example if I add unchlorinated water and the salt+potato mixture with the same leaf mould, will it brew another batch of JMS? Or do I need fresh leaf mould every time I brew JMS?

Hello. When you said 1:20 ratio when applying to the garden weekly how do you do that without using tap water from your garden hose? I do not have a backyard rain container.
