I dread flash photography! This video is very useful, however I have a couple question about doing flash photography. 1. When you say to bounce the flags off something neutral, where should you position the flash? Should it be placed behind that camera or in front of the scene in the darkest corner? 2. When you are presenting a client with their photos, do ever have a mix of flash photos and HDR ? Or do you just stick to one style?
It’s definitely time consuming! 1. Depends, every scene is different. The best place to start is to bounce it directly off the overhead ceiling because it’s typically white and won’t give you any color cast. The farther from the ceiling or wall, the softer the light will be. Just a matter of experimenting 2. Just HDR now, too much volume for me to personally edit and blend flash photos Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much for this video! Definitely helped me. I’m a real estate agent and looking to add extra income with real estate photography. I am shooting HDR bracketing but would love to learn more about off-camera flash. Can you use a speed lite flash instead of holding a light up above for off-camera flash?
Hey Tyierra! Thanks for the comment, glad it was helpful! If I understand you correctly, you totally can! You can use a speed lite with a trigger and use it like an off camera flash system. I would avoid using a speed lite on camera, you’re very limited as far as where the light hits and gets pretty unflattering results. Thanks man, amazing tips as always! Can you suggest me one thing please? I use a Sony a6000 and I shoot with bracketing but with this model of camera you can shoot 5 images only up to 0.7Ev difference and over 0.7 only 3 images (they limited the software…) so I shoot 3.0Ev3 instead of 2.0Ev3, but when there are very bright lights or bright windows I get very overexposed lights /windows even after merging the photos in Lrc with Lr enfuse. I even tried to drop the starting photo Ev by -1 but still the lights/windows gets too much over exposed, what can I do? Can’t really figure it out. Thanks a lot!

Have you ever found a need to use a lens with a higher millimeter than 35mm when capturing exterior shots? If so, Which lens did you utilize in such cases?
Hey! Not really, rarely I've used my 50mm prime for some exterior shots. Typically I take them at either 15mm or 24mm. Only a few times I've done them at 50mm!
Totally, definitely working on getting a video done for OCF real estate. But pretty much I’m always bouncing it off a neutral wall to fill in the room!
Andrei, thanks for your awesome tutorials!!! Im interested in your presets. I don't see them listed under all of your editing setup, etc. Are they available?
With both, the interior and the outside shots, do you set your camera to Auto White Balance ? Or do you use a fixed color temp in your camera settings, when you capture the picture ?
Thanks! Nope, because of the volume we do now, we shoot 5 bracket HDR photos. Plus I have a real estate photographer that handles them now so I can do video!
Hey Andrei, great video! Fast question, at the 15 minute marker, you are using a tool to lighting up some areas of the room. Would you mind sharing exactly how you do this? Thanks!
Hey Oliver! Appreciate it greatly. For sure, I’m using the Brush Tool and using the “Dodge” preset which is just exposure at .25 I believe. So brushing over any area will lighten it up or any other effect you have on it. Make the feather size soft so it’s not harsh. Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks for watching!
Yep, always using a circular polarizer filter! Great for getting rid of reflections on floors and other surfaces. I use the ones by Moment, affordable and great quality. bit.ly/3HJacJw And yes! 30fps for interior video, and 60fps for details + exterior shots. All converted to 24fps on a 24fps timeline in editing. Thanks for watching!
Hey! Yes, I actually did! I intentionally shot it looking up (breaking the verticals rule) simply because it was such a tall property and made it look more appealing/grand to me. But I honestly thought fixing the verticals in post wasn’t going to work, but it did and actually looked good so I would totally send that too. Thanks for watching!
Idk if I should grab a 16-35mm lens or just grab a 16mm by itself. A wider lens and someone willing to let me come take some shots is literally all I need
I’d look in getting a preowned 16-35. Yes typically I shoot most RE shots at 16 like interiors, but having 24mm & 35mm to change perspective, shoot details, anything else, makes it super versatile. Check out mpb.com for used gear, that’d where I get mine from!
