Who the hell is going to step in and risk their freedom or safety to stop some black kids from stealing food? Like $30 worth of food?
When i worked at a restaurant we once had a night where a large group of black people came for a birthday party and by the end of the night the birthday guy ended up getting stuck with the bill. He was actually invited by friends and all his friends left him there to get stuck with the bill. He didnt even have the money and this is a expensive restaurant. The chefs and servers said this always happens with black people who come there.

It's not just asians in America that, that happens...I live in Korea, it's always happening here. A friend of mine, whose mix Filipino and black was told 'go away you dirty foreigner'...it was in a rural area, but similar things have happened in Seoul too.

This is my mom lol. Especially with weight. She's a nurse too, so she knows what she's talking about, but there is no filter. Except, I don't think she'll tell other people they're fat, but she will start talking about health risks (if the conversation is relevant).
The thing about asian parents and fat/food...so true lol. Growing up my best friends were asian and when i went to theirs after school their mom would give me plain steamed broccoli stems and tell me i had to eat a plate full of them because i needed more vegetables. Then she found out i was vegetarian and was concerned about my protein intake so once a week she’d make me eat tofu...but like not cooked. Just plain or sometimes with a litttlee bit of soy sauce. And ik she meant well but no lady 😂

My brother’s roommate is Chinese and when my brother first met him, his mom looked at him like he was going to murder her son the moment she left him. Even his roommate was a bit anxious about staying with my brother. Now, they're close friends and they had dinner at my house.
Tongans are outspoken and will tell the entire world what they believe is wrong with their kids; even people who you just met will tell you all the things wrong with you.
I always wonder how people would feel if a situation like this happens and the owners come out and just say they were wrong, they own up to their mistake and properly apologize and actually try to correct their mistakes instead of this business / lawyer etiquette. I just wonder if a businesses reputation can be saved or even has a better chance of gaining the public's trust again if they admit they were wrong.
Kinda (not exactly) had a situation like this the day before mother's day. My family & I went to Dave & Buster's & the white guy who served us must have assumed we were not going to tip him. We had two parties & were served as two different parties. Some of us joined tables while the extra people stayed at their original table. Apparently they have some sort of 18% charge for parties over 10 people being served. Neither party had even half of that. He decided that when he brought out the two receipts he would charge EVERYONE the 18% ten person party AND receive the tip BOTH parties were leaving him all together.. He was very disappointed in the end. We still even tipped him to let him know we aren't the kind of people he profiled us to be...he didn't show gratitude or signs of learning a lesson. He came to the table with a disgusted look on his face, snatched up the tip, then refused to come back to our table to finish clearing it until we left. You'd think we had beat the little guy up..nope.. We were just nice, intelligent black people trying to have a good time.
My family and I went to an Italian restaurant in Brighton U.K and we had to pre pay for our food as well . (Not one else did )Yes we are black . All the restaurants were full and it was late we basically we had no choice .

This is a huge problem in my area, my daughter works in the industry and this happens all of the time, the restaurant makes my daughter pay for the food if people at her table if they dine and dash.
They shouldve mentioned they only wanted an apology but the restaurant refused. So disappointing this happened in canada!
so if you dine and dash you should be able to get sued for 10 stacks?
i mean yeah, you didn't pay so you could get sued for "damage" properly.
I don't understand the reverse question.. If you dine and dash you should be responsible for THAT amount, plus whatever society deems is fair punishment just for attempting the crime. Meaning if you run out on 20 bucks but you get caught and only have to pay 20 you will still likely do it again. So the question is what amount should you be fined to make you think twice about doing it again. However I don't get why this family should get 10,000 for their feelings. They have lost NOTHING and now get 10,000. Makes no sense.
Also to anyone whose experienced racism in TO, I'm sorry. I swear we're not all like that, Chinese, Asian, or otherwise.

Same thing happen to me and some friends. Went out to a restaurant after finishing a huge project to celebrate. When there we have been told to pay (including tip for no service) or get out. At first we didn't get it, but as soon as we look around we realised we were the only black and minorities in the establishment. We felt so disrespected and belittled. Its sad to think that this shit still happens.
Asians who aren’t westernized really do have no filter. It’s funny but messed up at the same time. They point out all your flaws and insecurities but they’re doing it out of kindness lol.

Kreaven Agreed. We'd see a lot more angry racist whites coming out for sure. Trump brought a lot out, if the filter was gone, we'd find the rest of them.
But at the same time they don't know that they're getting racially discriminated and profiled as well. They don't understand that they get excluded and separated from society due to their ethnicity. They just receive this as they did something wrong or they're not trying hard enough.

So im from NY and I remember when I was prom dressing shopping, this was backnin 2014, I figured it was ok to go to Fashion Ave. And my budget was $300 max for a dress. I went to one boutique and when I wanted to try on a dress the looked and me and my sister (my sister is darker than me) that we had to pay for the dress and then try it on... my sister finessed and I got to try the dress. We left because of the way we're were treated, makes no sense to pay for a dress that u have no idea how it would look on ur body w/o trying it on. We went to another boutique, n the guy would NOT let us in the boutique saying no. Long story short I will NEVER shop at Fashion Ave., no matter how much money i make. Got my prom dress in a mall in queens instead for less that $300, I believe $250 including taxes, looked good & had fun.
Hearing all these stories about their moms are great and very funny! My mom passed away about 2 years ago, I miss her every day, but hearing these brings warmth to me. Great stories, and look forward to more JUST KIDDING NEWS! Only news I listen/watch! 2Mil subs around the corner!!

I've been told by two people, an Indian and a middle eastern refugee that they are told to be careful of black people by their family that already lives here, co-workers of other races and by the people who help them immigrate here. Sad stuff.

Oh I know that place! It's an after-hour type of Chinese restaurant. Pretty much located Toronto downtown core. If you went to a club it's where literally everyone ate after. So I can see how this can come about. But the crew's right, since it's a mom and pop type place, the operators of the place don't really get how the whole anti-discrimination thing works.

This actually happened in DC aswell in gallery place-chinatown like a group of black kids had to pay before ordering their food but sadly they didn't go to court or get no money settlement I know the ower of Chinese restaurant had to be embarrassing to shame and they said it will never happen again and this story actually appeared on the local news.

Honestly from what i noticed it's the older generation. So often enough I just let them be when I'm in a store, because I'd rather they learn when they get robbed from someone they least expect.
