@@discoplatypusplayz3389 nope it's character development! a lot of people seem to mistake what development actually is. development is building up a 3-dimensional character, which is what we get here, we see more of megumi's sacrificial tendencies. what you're probably thinking about is progression, which is the growth of a character.

Spoiler alert: I guess this is kind of a spoiler but since you asked I thought I might explain it.
The scene they are talking about is when Megumi bunts. In the future, Gojo ends up referring back to this moment when he is teaches Megumi a lesson about Self- sacrifice. That is why there is a scene, after Megumi bunts, where gojo is paying close attention to him.
I love Inumaki still communicating even though his vocabulary is so limited. Just angrily shouting "BENTO FLAKES!!"

@@dorsab8627 so megumi didnt hit the ball with full force but rather decided to bunt the ball, this made it so that Nobara could go to the next base easier but at the cost of himself being more likely to go out since the ball is close to him now and can easily be grabbed and thrown to first base, hence sacrificing himself.
Inumaki yelling “Bonito Flakes” is one of the best things from this clip

That scene with Megumi bunting for Nobara and getting himself out, and Gojo's reaction to the bunt, is the best set up ever. The way we see Megumi sacrifice himself in a totally friendly baseball game, and seeing Gojo's reaction to it, sets up for their talk in the coming episodes so well. Even in a friendly game like this, Megumi's instinct is to do something sacrificial in order to win.
"Dying to win and risking death to win are two completely different things"
All of this is a great set up for Episode 23, where Megumi almost summons the untamed Mahoraga in whats essentially a suicide bombing, but then decides to "Be Greedier" as Gojo tells him, and tries an incomplete Domain Expansion instead.
Gojo really told Megumi "Aren't you tired of being nice?? Don't you just wanna go apeshit??" And he took it to heart.
This pairs well with another analysis video I saw that says JJK encourages “selfishness .” It’s right.

@@Skydragon-qj6ww it’s not really a spoiler so I’ll tell you lol . Megumi is known to think of others ( sometimes too much ) I’m sure you would’ve noticed if you payed attention since the beginning. And even though Yuji has grown stronger Megumi still worries about him and tries to warn or protect him . Just like he did with Inumaki and Nobara in certain scenes . His mindset was explained in the beginning, he thinks that because he’s a sorcerer his role is to save people ( well at least who deserve saving but that’s beside the point ) . That mindset doesn’t allow him to go all out , he’s always taking into account his friends. Basically he doesn’t care what happens to him if that would mean the safety and well-being of others . Later on Gojo tells Megumi this and that marks a turning point for Megumi’s growth as a sorcerer.

I love how they snuck in character development for megumi in this comedic scene. There is no wasted screen time in this show (not that a comedy scene alone would be a waste).
I like the detail of Mai just going "Tsk" when it's maki's turn cause she hates her
I love the relation ship between Megumi and Nobara (and also Yuuji), mostly when he said : "Kugisaka modore" or when he teases her.
Gojo's look at Megumi is probably just him noticing Megumi's personality- he did a sacrifice bunt. Megumi is a bit too willing to throw his own life away when it comes to about anything; that summon you've seen him *almost* do 2-3 times just this far in the series would've meant certain death for him for reasons that haven't been explained yet.
