All very well... but what about a detailed description of getting into the 2 4 2 from a set piece scrum or lineout... attacking wide is easy, attacking close where do the forwards go?
The vids about your 2-4-2 structure are great! My question is what is your practice structure like when you are introducing this to a team? What did you find was the most effective way to introduce this system?
Hi Mark, a great start is introducing players by splitting the field into 3 zones & playing "Zone Touch", where you can not be tagged in the same zone twice in a a row or else it's a turnover. From there, you can run shadow & tell players what channel they're in to start & let them run through the motions as a full 15. After they have the larger structure ingrained in their mind's, you can put into place specifics about the picture you want to present the defense. I hope this helps!
Great question. I need to review more but my initial thoughts was just that, is this naturally flowing rugby?
Can't see it? The problems I see are from 12 and 13 being limited to a zone. A lot of the pre determined backs moves rely heavily on 10, 12 and 13 and In some cases they are quite congested (such as blocker, slider and ranghi moves. Yes these can all be deployed with other players running lines out of position but that's for teams who train day in, day out.
