- As an very experienced independent social worker, Cathie regularly assesses children and adults with additional needs for SEND Tribunals, judicial review, Family Court, and the Court of Protection. Cathie has an MA in Autism, she is an Approved Mental Health Professional, and she has just completed her third year of psychotherapy training with Contact Point in Bristol.
Cathie is neurodivergent (Autistic with ADHD) which adds a different dimension to her professional creativity. She is passionate about social work with a focus on sound, ethical practice, where she seeks to ensure a person's assessed needs are at the forefront of any decisions made. As part of a team of highly acclaimed experts, Cathie has recently co-written the draft social work practice guidance on Fabricated or Induced Illness on behalf of the British Association of Social Workers which will be published next year
some absolutely do fabricate it, and a lot of it is no discipline
This was like hearing my current life being read out loud to me. Its absolutely horrific to go through.
As a professional in the autism field as an active campaigner for parents falsely accused of FII themselves, and as a parent accused of this way back in 2006 and our 22 year old daughter now being falsely accused of FII in 2022 in regards to her own diagnoses , of which there are many , all of which have been diagnosed or financed by the NHS, this presentation needs a wider audience.
I know that SS get a hard time for the work they do, I have my own bias and will happily admit these. Thank you for putting this out there, it's a valuable tool and I am an advocate for parents and children rights etc. The move from MbP to FII to get a wider understanding of causes of FII/PP/MUS. Thank you for putting this out there.
