  • It’s exactly what it says on the tin - I show you all of the finer points and details I can think of on my newly acquired Demon 340. Every scratch and scuff has a story - and I share as many of them as I have gathered so far. If you’re looking to restore one of these cars, this might be especially useful.

    The best part about this video is knowing that this amazing car was bought by someone who gets why this is such a special machine and respects the car’s history. I’ve had my Dart Sport for 25 years now and the instructions for whoever has to deal with it after I die will be to sell it to someone like you. 🍻

      Thank you. I really appreciate that. It took years for me to be ready for it - I had to mature to a certain point, I had to have the shop to put it in and get my ducks in a row. Selling my first house last year definitely helped. Dale’s wife said that she’s glad I came along and bought it, because otherwise she was probably going to have to bury him in it. I feel more like its caretaker than its owner - but I plan to be its caretaker for a long time.

    Dude, the only thing I have to tell you is, you’re a lucky man! I’ve owned a few dusters in my day, my last was a 1970, black on black. But, I’ve always wanted a dodge demon!

    Great car sound even better than it looks and it looks awesome! They did the blackout with a guy in a pit with a spray gun and it was the 70s so smoke breaks were more fun back then!! Leave the devil girl sticker it may be an original Coop the artist sticker very cool! Hot wheels rule!!!

    I’m right there with ya. Bought a ‘71 Dart Swinger (no hood scoops) and can’t bring myself to add the hood pins and scoops I’ve wanted on a ‘71 anything since high school. Looking for a donor hood and keep the original intact.

      Right. Things are hard. Haha. I found a perfect b5 blue hood… in Ohio. Dang it. I did find a green one, but it needs repair. I like the idea of a flat black hood and scoops so I may try that in the short term.

    Yes, that is an old Seattle license plate. They began using the "O" after the letter "A' plates were used up in the late 60s. I wonder if he ordered it from Lakecity Dodge? Do not remove the pinup decal in the engine bay. Every Demon needs an Angel.

    • @DeadDodgeGarage
      @DeadDodgeGarage  7 місяців тому

      He ordered it at Renton Dodge, and actually ended up purchasing it at Valley Motors after Renton messed up his order. I forgot she was in there 😅 I won’t.

    Why bother fixing any of the rust. It’s been 50 years and it looks fine. It will look the same in another 50 years if you keep it dry and stored properly. You will never paint match it nice. Same thing with the wear on passenger side top of door etc. just leave it alone. Don’t put done crappy clear that will flake or yellow in time. It’s a patina car just drive it.

    • @DeadDodgeGarage
      @DeadDodgeGarage  2 роки тому

      I don’t think that’s how rust works. That hole hasn’t been there 50 years… I’ve owned my ‘66 for nine years, and when I got it the passenger quarter looked very similar to this - more solid even. There is a piece gone now - and I kept it inside and mostly out of the rain up until this last year.
      That entire quarter has been repainted anyway (albeit decades ago) and it’s a very good match, so I know it’s possible. Trust me, I’m the leave it alone guy. But in this case, I don’t want a hole in the Demon. I don’t want it to get worse. I love the rest of the patina.

    • @mysterycomment1553
      @mysterycomment1553 2 роки тому

      @@DeadDodgeGarage I own 20 vintage muscle cars/classics. Have a 68 charger that has looked that way since 1980. Never changed. The rust won’t just start going across and up the entire quarter panel lol. Clean out any dirt and rinse out the drop downs, rinse out the frame rails and torsion bar support. Spray a mix of wd40 down inside the drop downs etc. If your 66 rusted that fast in 1 year then there was more going on and most likely rocks etc were hitting it to make the piece disappear. Because if rust was that fast the car would be gone and not even there after 50 years. Only reason field cars rust out is because they stay wet constantly. I got a 51 ford F1 that I daily drive. Original paint patina truck. Just keep it waxed. Never cleared it’s patina. Has a bit of rust starting in front fender on passenger side at the front wheel lip like they all do. Been 10 years and truck sees rain and even snow and has not changed at all in 10 years.
