      Renaldo, Keitt are considered late season and here in South Florida we pick them in august and September. not sure if that's the same where you live. another thing you can do is squeeze them and when they start to feel soft you can pick and let them soften the rest of the way on your kitchen counter.

      Hi MEH, some varieties we start in May and others we wait until September but most of the varieties harvest in June and July. it's like a trickle in May then by mid August it's tapered off except for the handful of "late" varieties. My Keitt and Ford are late which it's nice to have fruit into September when everything else is picked clean.

    Awesome video , very informative. Question- how often should I water mango in a large pot 140 gal, new leaves seem to be very light, almost yellow and very small with some brown spots. Also new buds have stopped pushing out! Is to much water the culprit?

    • @SleepyLizard
      @SleepyLizard  11 місяців тому +1

      the pot is large but I need to know how old the mango is. If it's mature then it won't need much water but if it's in its first 3-4 years it'll need more water.. as for new buds you gotta wait and see what happens over the next 90 days as we enter dormant period

      Tree was purchased from Al’s fruit trees in homestead fl. , it was a 25 gallon orange sherbet. I’m in key west, and hasn’t rained much and I’ve been watering about every 3 days, I think I may have made the pot to wet. It’s almost to the point of stunted growth and very light green/ yellow foliage. Thank you for the response.

    • @SleepyLizard
      @SleepyLizard  Рік тому

      Jaded, you can try it and see what happens. I think you're right that it would look cool but two twisted stems are going to steal the nutrients from each other and each will only be half the size as if you allowed one stem to thicken naturally so I don't think you'll wind up with a stiffer stem.

    Why not thin out the fruit early. I do this with my citrus, remove undesirable fruit. The remaining fruit grows larger and sweeter. The tree is able to divert energy to the remaining fruit.

    • @SleepyLizard

      the trees drop fruit themselves. they know how much fruit to hold

  • @liquel1603
    @liquel1603 Рік тому +1

    You can enduce flowering on mangoes. My mistake a few years ago is not removing fruits. My old mango tree literally broke in half at the middle due to the weight of the fruits. Remove too much fruits, remaining mangoes will also get bigger and sweeter that way.
