I agree. Tiger is overtierd. There are a few vehicles who's placement and/or unhistorical armement I never realy understood. For example, why give the M18 the same top gun as the M36? It made the Jackson redundant. It would have made more sense to give the Hellcat the historical top gun and improve both gun handling and mobility.

the panzer 4 when it had its massively accurate long barrel gun and rounded impenitrable turret was AMAZING, then they took those things away , i think it was panther gun on it, and was hyper accurate was so much fun

I loved to play along, against and even as arty back then. The shots with high damage and slow reload actually made a difference and I could relocate before I got shot. Btw. Is WoT still a thing nowadays with hull down meta, and wheely cockroaches?
I would love the option of selecting only same tier matchmaking (in the same way that you can opt to turn off some maps and game modes). I would totally accept the longer wait in exchange for being able to play a tank just against it's piers. I hate logging in to find that I am just cannon fodder for tanks 2 tiers higher that I am not good enough (I freely admit) to get the better of. So I don't often log in any more...
If that was an option then everyone would select it, and it would make the queue times astronomical. The only reason they have multi-tier matchmaking is to fill up higher tier battles with mid tier tanks, otherwise the queue times would be too long.

@@Panzermeister36 not necessarily, not if players could login and see the queue for all tiers. If on that day more players were waiting on a T6 match and you had a T6 the wait would go faster. They could reduce the size of teams after a minute or two. Maybe they could allow you to be in multiple queues at once and you play the first that's ready and drop out of the other. At least they can try it while leaving the current system in place.
modern games dont want you to have a fair chance, the matchmaking in modern games often works like a casino machine, you never know what you gonna get- same tier matchmaking(jackpot) or you loose and get eaten up by other players. the design is on purpose.
@@robertjusic9705 if WG is a casino owner then they allow a streamer to record video when playing the slots. If this streamer had many subscribers it would be smart for WG to allow this streamer to hit the jackpot often and if the marketing department could identify a correlation between this streamer's video of hitting the jackpot and an increase in people going to the casino and playing slots then the payout is worth it, plus the free advertising. Allowing CC's a successful playing experience that is totally different than everyone else. Or a CC that cherry picks from the player base.
The more I hear jingles reminisce about how world of tanks used to be it reminds me I'm also old. I remember unlocking the T2 medium tank taking into my first battle and seeing a platoon of KV's on the other team...
I played this game sooo long ago, I remember when it was quite common to indicate the direction you were killed from. Today, this is heralded as the highlight of collaboration. 🙄
Use the Tier 7 Tech Tree Tiger as if you were driving a Panther 1 with engine trouble. Great gun, no armour and flat fronted turret. The Tiger 2 is much more fun to play these days as it can take a hit or two.
my colleague once had a saying "Back in the day, when things were worse". Half the staff yearned for the days before we got our facility upgraded and worked outside under a lean to vs the new one inside an actual building.
On Console, this tank is a tier 7 premium that has 169 MM of pen compared to PC's 145, has a ROF of 10.91 rounds/minute, and has PREFERENTIAL MATCHMAKING. It's considered one of the most overpowered tanks tier-for-tier on Console, and it's not even close.
Nice to see the Hetzer doing well with the 105mm gun. I have given up using that now on my Hetzer, as it is not so much fun anymore due to the HE nerfing., and reverted back to the 75mm, which isn't much better, but at least if fires quicker....:)
The Tiger was the main tank that got me into World of Tanks, back in 2012 near the beginning of WOT's launch, when there were only the Russian and German tech trees, just before US got added lol, god makes me feel old. I got the Tiger I back then and still have it now! I do think it's cool that WG had added Tiger 131 into World of Tanks, yea it's just a Tiger with 131 skin but hey, as a Tiger lover...either be it the Chinese Tiger or Germany's Tiger I/Tiger 131, I'll collect them all! I do like low-tier premiums, they are fun to play.

I somehow acquired Heavy Tank no. 6 at some point. It seemed I was never top tier, and always had lousy games. It's good to see it's twin doing well in a game.
I do remember the days when arty could one shot anything with AP. Those were truly glorious days, to see the salt in chat and feed on their frustrated tears! Also on the tears of bad arty players who never moved or thought about counterbattery. Shoot and scoot, when zoomed in you were watching for shell tracers as much as targets. If not? Well, you were going to have a bad day...
Tiger 131 is a very important tank indeed, not just because it's the only operational Tiger tank in the whole world, but it was also the only Tiger tank that was abandoned by the crew and not scuttled.
I remember facing tier 10's with the Tiger 1 , back when there were only Russian and German tanks .. always refused to use gold anyway ... managed to kill an E-100 once , and it was mostly because he decided to ignore me and left the rear turret hatch facing my way
Back in the good ole days of 5 years ago, it was normal to get 5 kills in one battle in my V T1 Heavy, and 9 kills in one battle was conceivable. I might even win 50% of the battles I fought. Nowadays, getting 2 kills in one battle is a bloody miracle and a great day is winning one battle in five. I miss the old days...
Except the Tiger never got the Tiger II gun. It was really meant as a Tiger that wouldn’t fight post-war tanks. We see this as there other vehicles in the German techs tree with the same issue namely the Panther and the Tiger II. When the Tiger 131 was a big success for WarGaming, they added more down-tiered premiums like the Heavy Tank No. 6 (a historically accurate Tiger in the Japanese tech-tree which was based on a Tiger Japan purchased for testing but got lost in transit) and the VK 30.01 M (admittedly it is a tech-tree tank but it is still a historically accurate Panther as Jingles mentions being based on the original MAN prototype) mentioned in the video but also the Pudel (an actual premium Panther in the Polish tech-tree based on an actual Panther captured in Poland) and the King Tiger (C) (A captured Tiger II in the American tech-tree which is unlikely to have been used both due to the Tiger’s reputation making the a magnet for friendly fire and how unreliable it was). It also shaped how they did some of the tech-trees later on such as the decision to replace the very unpopular M3 Lee (A tank that only existed but was mass produced and the tank we entered the war with) with the the T6 Medium (A prototype Sherman that never saw combat) because they realized people just wanted to get to the Sherman already.
@@emberfist8347 you realize the tiger at tier seven also gets another 8.8 that was used in the tiger E. The tiger E being the later version of the tiger where some things had been fixed. The easiest telling sign between the two variants is the cylinder things on the back of tiger 131 and tiger at tier 7
The KV-1 with a 57mm is lethal. Has a blistering fire rate with great DPM and tracking potential, letting you easily pick apart your opponent if you know how to use your armour. Three marked mine with the gun in question
Teamwork, It is instinctive for me, I find. As a lower tier tank, I will take any chance at breaking a higher tier's track if it looks like one of my higher tier team mates will be able to take advantage of it. If there is a stalemate at a corner, I will take the risk of popping up behind or on the flank to unseat the opposing defenders.
Paul, fantastic videos, as always...can you increase the audio output? I've been playing your videos on max volume and can barely hear you, but the audio is fine on other YT channels.
Speaking of the the good old days and HE and the KV ... I remember having to circle strafe those KV's to a slow and painful death with 75mm HE spam from a Pz. III ... good (?) times. If not good thenat least Interesting. Very Interesting.
Fun fact, due to the Tiger 1's 1500 hp pool, and its dpm, as well as good pen for its tier, with a little knowhow you can still out trade tanks in your tier as long as you dont let them play peekaboo when they have higher alpha than you, you have to get in their face and out DPM them, or snipe and side scrape from far away. its still excellent at tier 8 even, just Skoda T-56 makes everything feel pointless. but a tiger 1 can easily out trade a IS3
Its funny Jingles....you move into a new home with a lot of echo. I redid my floors with hardwood and gained an echo. Between us it sounds like you are 500 ft down a tunnel. No worries, will have to get used to it. ;-)
Tiger 131 also has the distinction of being the oldest preserved Tiger I, it being a member of the first production batch. Why? Its turret is actually the turret from the VK 4501 (the Porsche Tiger), with its notches at the lower corners of the mantlet.
That's not really true, for these reasons: 1. The first "batch" would be the Tigers built under the first contract. If we ignore the three "test" Tigers, the first contract covered Tigers from 250001 to 250100. Tiger 131 has the chassis number 250122, therefore it's from the second batch. 2. Tiger 131 is not the oldest preserved Tiger. It is number 122 off the production line. An American museum has the 31st Tiger. 3. Tiger 131 has a mantlet (the front wall of the turret) that was intended for the VK4501, as you say. But the remainder of its turret was not made for the VK4501. For example, the VK4501 turrets had no floor, and they contained an electric motor. Tiger 131 has a floor and a hydraulic motor. There are no signs of any conversion that happened.
Funny enough, the tiger's armor problem was somewhat solve by the mobile counterpart of wot, the wot blitz, where the armor is at 160+mm instead of 100mm. Tho, its only the t7 tiger and not the tiger 131 or the japanese one.
Poor Hetzer, 7.5 round is too slow to pen at any kind of range or with any kind of accuracy, 105 AP is pointless, 105HE does plink damage and struggles to pen light tanks. Used to be a make or break tank, good on this Hetzer for doing what he can.
They tried and the matchmaking sucked. Jingles mentioned in an old video when they first introduced the mode he suggested for say a Sherman v Tiger engagement like Kasserine Pass, they needed to put a cap on how many Tigers the German side could use to give the Shermans a fighting chance. I thought they could have added more TDs to the American side but neither option was taken and the result was unbalanced as hell.
@@emberfist8347 no they tried preconceived battles. US v Germany or UK v Germany. By historical I meant, no e25, no long 88 on the Tiger 1. No 90mm on the Helcat. No squeeze bore on Matilda. You pick the vehicle and the fame picks the config and the ammo loadout. No gokd spam in historical mode. So if APDS was not in service, you get none of that ammo.
LOL! Yeah... You totally hit the nail on the head. People who keep going on about the 'good 'ol days' and how great the game was, are totally forgetting that the Tier 4 lights used to appear in T10 games, game with 12 or 13 arty on each side used to be a thing, The KV-2 used to be tier 5, the KV-3 used to be tier 6, the IS-4 was tier nine, the T30 was a tier ten heavy... (HEAVY? It was a horrible T10 heavy), Match making was +3 -3 unless you were a light, tank destroyer, or artillery. It was faaaaaaar worse for those thanks. Artillery used to be able to one shot ANYTHING including the biggest, heaviest tanks with the most hit points, but yeah, the game used to be soooooooo much better. LOL!

Ye olden days in WoT was very... bizarre at times. Not to mention that the serverconnections used to be so bad tanks could basically warp through the battlefield and hitting those was a nightmare. And with the 3 tier matchmaking, a close friend of mine once managed to kill a techtree Tiger with a Marder. Mostly because noone saw him and back then you did not get noticed from where you were shot, just you had been hit. Wild days those were, and no, they were not better. We were probably just used to far more bullshit :D
I think your point about server connection is pretty true and something a lot of people seem to forget. The KV2's HE rounds might be dead, but at least we have stable servers.
I can't help replying when someone complains about three arty per team in one battle. "When I started to play WoT, it wasn't uncommon to see SEVEN arty per team." 🙂
I bought for bonds, its decente if played smart in favorable mm, still the tier 7 is Better because of gun mainly...my 131 dosnt come with bia crew btw

For WoT I always felt that the Tiger I should have been T6 in its more historic configuration and the Tiger II at T7 wouldn't be out of place.

I actually preferred the 2013-ish strong arty. Nowdays arty is more like an Ion cannon, can hit in very weird places previously arty-safe

Back in the good ole days of 5 years ago, it was normal to get 5 kills in one battle in my V T1 Heavy, and 9 kills in one battle was conceivable. I might even win 50% of the battles I fought.
Nowadays, getting 2 kills in one battle is a bloody miracle and a great day is winning one battle in five.
I miss the old days...

Oh jingles you forget that tiger 131 is the H1 variant of the tiger and the tiger at tier 7is more of an example of the tiger E Variant
Except the Tiger never got the Tiger II gun. It was really meant as a Tiger that wouldn’t fight post-war tanks. We see this as there other vehicles in the German techs tree with the same issue namely the Panther and the Tiger II. When the Tiger 131 was a big success for WarGaming, they added more down-tiered premiums like the Heavy Tank No. 6 (a historically accurate Tiger in the Japanese tech-tree which was based on a Tiger Japan purchased for testing but got lost in transit) and the VK 30.01 M (admittedly it is a tech-tree tank but it is still a historically accurate Panther as Jingles mentions being based on the original MAN prototype) mentioned in the video but also the Pudel (an actual premium Panther in the Polish tech-tree based on an actual Panther captured in Poland) and the King Tiger (C) (A captured Tiger II in the American tech-tree which is unlikely to have been used both due to the Tiger’s reputation making the a magnet for friendly fire and how unreliable it was). It also shaped how they did some of the tech-trees later on such as the decision to replace the very unpopular M3 Lee (A tank that only existed but was mass produced and the tank we entered the war with) with the the T6 Medium (A prototype Sherman that never saw combat) because they realized people just wanted to get to the Sherman already.
@@emberfist8347 you realize the tiger at tier seven also gets another 8.8 that was used in the tiger E. The tiger E being the later version of the tiger where some things had been fixed. The easiest telling sign between the two variants is the cylinder things on the back of tiger 131 and tiger at tier 7
The KV-1 with a 57mm is lethal. Has a blistering fire rate with great DPM and tracking potential, letting you easily pick apart your opponent if you know how to use your armour. Three marked mine with the gun in question
Also it has great accuracy and aim time (though with Soviets, higher is better so your mileage may vary).

Teamwork, It is instinctive for me, I find. As a lower tier tank, I will take any chance at breaking a higher tier's track if it looks like one of my higher tier team mates will be able to take advantage of it. If there is a stalemate at a corner, I will take the risk of popping up behind or on the flank to unseat the opposing defenders.
Paul, fantastic videos, as always...can you increase the audio output? I've been playing your videos on max volume and can barely hear you, but the audio is fine on other YT channels.

Speaking of the the good old days and HE and the KV ... I remember having to circle strafe those KV's to a slow and painful death with 75mm HE spam from a Pz. III ... good (?) times. If not good thenat least Interesting. Very Interesting.
In Blitz, tiger 131 gets ammo-racked as soon as anybody looks at it.

Fun fact, due to the Tiger 1's 1500 hp pool, and its dpm, as well as good pen for its tier, with a little knowhow you can still out trade tanks in your tier as long as you dont let them play peekaboo when they have higher alpha than you, you have to get in their face and out DPM them, or snipe and side scrape from far away. its still excellent at tier 8 even, just Skoda T-56 makes everything feel pointless. but a tiger 1 can easily out trade a IS3
Its funny Jingles....you move into a new home with a lot of echo. I redid my floors with hardwood and gained an echo. Between us it sounds like you are 500 ft down a tunnel. No worries, will have to get used to it. ;-)

Tiger 131 also has the distinction of being the oldest preserved Tiger I, it being a member of the first production batch.
Why? Its turret is actually the turret from the VK 4501 (the Porsche Tiger), with its notches at the lower corners of the mantlet.
That's not really true, for these reasons:
1. The first "batch" would be the Tigers built under the first contract. If we ignore the three "test" Tigers, the first contract covered Tigers from 250001 to 250100. Tiger 131 has the chassis number 250122, therefore it's from the second batch.
2. Tiger 131 is not the oldest preserved Tiger. It is number 122 off the production line. An American museum has the 31st Tiger.
3. Tiger 131 has a mantlet (the front wall of the turret) that was intended for the VK4501, as you say. But the remainder of its turret was not made for the VK4501. For example, the VK4501 turrets had no floor, and they contained an electric motor. Tiger 131 has a floor and a hydraulic motor. There are no signs of any conversion that happened.
Funny enough, the tiger's armor problem was somewhat solve by the mobile counterpart of wot, the wot blitz, where the armor is at 160+mm instead of 100mm. Tho, its only the t7 tiger and not the tiger 131 or the japanese one.
Poor Hetzer, 7.5 round is too slow to pen at any kind of range or with any kind of accuracy, 105 AP is pointless, 105HE does plink damage and struggles to pen light tanks. Used to be a make or break tank, good on this Hetzer for doing what he can.

I wonder what the take up would be fir a historical mode where you play tanks that actually existed.
They tried and the matchmaking sucked. Jingles mentioned in an old video when they first introduced the mode he suggested for say a Sherman v Tiger engagement like Kasserine Pass, they needed to put a cap on how many Tigers the German side could use to give the Shermans a fighting chance. I thought they could have added more TDs to the American side but neither option was taken and the result was unbalanced as hell.
@@emberfist8347 no they tried preconceived battles. US v Germany or UK v Germany. By historical I meant, no e25, no long 88 on the Tiger 1. No 90mm on the Helcat. No squeeze bore on Matilda. You pick the vehicle and the fame picks the config and the ammo loadout. No gokd spam in historical mode. So if APDS was not in service, you get none of that ammo.
LOL! Yeah... You totally hit the nail on the head. People who keep going on about the 'good 'ol days' and how great the game was, are totally forgetting that the Tier 4 lights used to appear in T10 games, game with 12 or 13 arty on each side used to be a thing, The KV-2 used to be tier 5, the KV-3 used to be tier 6, the IS-4 was tier nine, the T30 was a tier ten heavy... (HEAVY? It was a horrible T10 heavy), Match making was +3 -3 unless you were a light, tank destroyer, or artillery. It was faaaaaaar worse for those thanks. Artillery used to be able to one shot ANYTHING including the biggest, heaviest tanks with the most hit points, but yeah, the game used to be soooooooo much better. LOL!

Arty being able to one shot people actually were better days, for those of us that played Arty.
I avoided the Tiger 1, had the Tiger(p). I put a bonds gun rammer in my Tiger, … blistering RoF indeed!
Add the fact that Tigers didn't really like to fight at WoT distances, and preferred to keep their enemies at arms length.
correct me if im wrong :) but doesnt tiger 131 ....in reallife have the maybach hl230 from the museums tiger 2? cause the original hl210 engine is sliced up for display.....
Ye olden days in WoT was very... bizarre at times. Not to mention that the serverconnections used to be so bad tanks could basically warp through the battlefield and hitting those was a nightmare. And with the 3 tier matchmaking, a close friend of mine once managed to kill a techtree Tiger with a Marder. Mostly because noone saw him and back then you did not get noticed from where you were shot, just you had been hit. Wild days those were, and no, they were not better. We were probably just used to far more bullshit :D
I think your point about server connection is pretty true and something a lot of people seem to forget. The KV2's HE rounds might be dead, but at least we have stable servers.

I can't help replying when someone complains about three arty per team in one battle. "When I started to play WoT, it wasn't uncommon to see SEVEN arty per team." 🙂
I recently started playing the M3 lee, lovely tank. Better than the Tiger
I bought for bonds, its decente if played smart in favorable mm, still the tier 7 is Better because of gun mainly...my 131 dosnt come with bia crew btw

Great times. That was my specialism with 56% WR. The game hasn't been the same since and I don't bother now.
First WoT video I gave a like in years. Nice to see team play and good, fun matches still happen there but I'm not gong back whatsoever lol
