The Warning reworked Enter Sandman with Canadian singer Alessia Cara for Metallica’s Blacklist album. They followed the instructions from Metallica to keep the lyrics, but turn the song upside down, inside out and make it their own. The Warning had stopped doing covers, but how could they turn down an invitation from Metallica?
They did a cover of Muse's Hysteria when they were tiny ( kickarse) kid/teens. You know the one with the impossible bass line, where a 9 year old Ale plays incredibly ( though not as brilliantly as later) and then sings harmonies at the same time...
This whole concert is fire. You’ll really like Dust to Dust and Dull Knives. They’ve kind of combined those two songs. Pau (drummer) sings lead on Dust to Dust. 🤘🤘
I just checked out your channel and realized you are relatively new to The Warning. Here's a bit of background that might help you navigate their catalog. If you were to go watch some of their very early videos when they were just starting out, you would know that these Mexican sisters were not yet little bilingual Catholic school girls when they first got into music at summer camps. Mom's a dentist. Dad's an engineer. He used to run a recording studio. The girls grew up listening to their parents' rock favorites and watching concerts on TV. The kids all learned classical piano first, then discovered Rock Band, the video game. Suddenly, they were choosing instruments. Dany started guitar lessons at eight. Pau started drum lessons at six. Ale started bass at seven, a few years later, as she's the youngest. They were a great cover band as LITTLE KIDS. But they rarely do covers anymore. They are as good as, or better than the bands they covered! And in most cases, they are more fun to watch. Their first two albums were crowd-funded and independently produced! Before watching any more of their music, I'd suggest you watch their two TEDx Talks on the University of Nevada channel, from way back in 2016 and 2017. As much as you like it now, if you know who they are, and where they come from, their music will make a lot more sense. These ladies are now 19, 22, and 24. They sold out their Spring tour, 19 dates in Europe and the UK. They're also back from that collaboration with Band Maid in Japan, a stint in L.A. for the launch of their new album, on to Europe for festivals, and headed on to Canada, the USA, and other places this year. They already sold out a 10,000 seat arena in Mexico City for two dates next February. They're planning another extravaganza for that one! Their fourth album, Keep Me Fed, arrived June 28, and they performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live the night before. They were on MTV Push during July. It's great they are making fans from all over the world. The Warning started playing covers since they were really young. Other favorite of mine is another Metallica song called Atlas Rise. It's not one of their better known songs but The Warning plays great versions live. I like the Iron Maiden hat you are wearing. I also own a hat and a few t-shirts as well as Metallica ones. They did covers but, really, their power is in their live performances of their own music. Their song writing is amazing. Even their early songs when they were still children are great.
They have 4 versions of this cover, this is reaction is to version #4. Version 1 is a straight cover done in 2014 (they were 14, 12, and 9) which went viral and helped set them on the path they are on. Version 2 is from 2021 and is from the Metallica Blacklist Album (a tribute album with covers from various artists) and has a music video, it is with Alessia Cara. Version 3 is a reworking of version 2 to allow them to perform it without Alessia (she is still in the backing track). Version 4 is the same as version 3 but with strings.
I second the requests to go find their 2014 cover. But really, I wanted to point out the guitar Dany is playing. It's a custom Gibson Explorer gifted to her by Lzzy Hale when they toured together in the summer/fall of 2022. She's also got a one of a kind Manson from Matt Bellamy that she's touring with right now, its bright mustard yellow. Also, spot on with your commentary about this version being haunting. It feels like a creepy lullaby to me.

(18, 16 and 13 years old), this was the last time they did a cover on their shows, except “their own” Enter Sandman.
