@@BristolRon You did, you did! I remember the gig and the lovely audience in Bristol. I don't have the DVD anymore, unfortunately. It was such a lovely time and really special to have footage because this was all pre-youtube
Like some, I first heard this song on the Connie Dover album where she covered it. It absolutely wrecked me there and hearing it in Huw's voice in such an intimate setting absolutely destroys me. Sadder than all of it: that we don't think of the hundreds of stories that will never be told as our hatred and thirst for warfare continue unabated and snuff out countless beautiful lives every day. Bright blessings to both of them for their beautiful music.
Yes! And me and a chap i met on here pooled our collection and he put them all on digital for me too! :) Inbox me your email and I'll try and get one of my teenagers to send it, lol, I'm computer illiterate ;) x
I have the CD ripped to digital tracks if you'd like me to email them? Such childhood memories from these guys, apparently I met them when I was a toddler lol
Remember seeing Huw and Tony Williams and Sidmouth and many other festivals in the early 80’s. Some wonderful songs, a lot covered by Fairport.
Top song. My parents, aunts and uncles lived through the blitz and told me about it. This song breaks me up. Brilliant.
My second favourite song of theirs, second only to We Stayed Awake. Beautiful xx
Terry has this in his repertoire and has sung it twice in recent months. How lovely to hear it again after many years. Wonderful song.
