Today I wanted to share with you and in-depth review of my Saint Laurent Lou Camera Bag. I love this bag and I will show you why. Have fun!

Pulled the trigger today and finally got this purse!! I do gotta say that when I went to the store and asked to see it, they told me the new version didn’t have the tassle and now had a pocket in the back. I saw the purse and was incredibly underwhelmed with the quality, I was shocked that a bag like this would be $1700. The associate then pulled the “old version” (the one that comes with the tassle) and the quality was miles different. I ended up getting the “older” version right then and there because I was afraid that I would not be able to get my hands on the older (and better) version of this bag. I will also say that the bag I got had the tassle but it did not have the plaque emblem you showed on the tassle so it would seem they do this often (meaning where they change version and potentially cheapen the quality)
Anyways, to sum up, if you are planning on getting this bag, check with your boutiques to see if they have the older version with the tassle available (even to take it off later) because that one is better than the new version in my opinion!
They always cheapen the product over time. I bought the older version as well.

Crazy!!! I didn’t know they would “cheapen” an already very expensive (and even pricier) bag. Good thing you got your hands on the older model. I noticed that Cartier did this with their rings too. My friend got the trinity in the same size that I have and it’s significantly thinner, meaning they used less gold and it’s also 50% more expensive then when I bought it

Thank you for pointing out that LV sells their bags way higher and it's mostly canvas. With Saint Laurent, it's all leather and much cheaper in price when it comes to size.

I think the tassel cheapens the look of the bag. I noticed Coach does that alot, they come out with a really nice, classic or elegant looking bag and then bam they had a cheap looking hang tag to it that just destroy the whole look lol.
I agree! I put the tassel on my plain tote bag from Tory Burch and I like it on this bag but on the Lou camera it was so freaking annoying haha 💞

For the tassel to stay in place. Just get a key chain ring and attach the tassel to the hardware on the bag. It will stay in place and not roll down the strap and it won’t bother you at all anymore.

I looped my tassel on the d ring on the side of the bag(the part that the strap is attached to) and it alleviates the annoying tassel issue

Just found your channel!! I’m looking at getting a camera bag and I’m drawn to this one. I laughed at the whip with the tassel, I definitely always thought of that and definitely will take off completely if I ever get this bag. I feel like the bending at the top is wrong the wear and wear against your hip/thigh??? No idea but it doesn’t feel as good to see it. Greet review! Really like the effort you put into it and you pointed out great pros and cons!

Thank you for this great review! Over two years later and its still helpful! I'm buying this for my wifey... she's had an imitation one cuz she claims she can't take care of the expensive ones to justify getting the real and expensive ones. LOL. It's now looking pretty beat up and I tell her it's cuz it's an imitation! The designers of the original use high quality materials for a reason, and especially with leather and metal - it'll wear and age well in the use that you'll put it thru. She's a COO and deserves to have the best for the hard work she puts in. So this is my gift to her! :)
LOL on the tassel! I think the designer set the tassel that way on purpose... just to slap some sassiness onto whoever's wearing it ha!

I just bought this bag a few weeks ago and came to find a review to see if that dent happens in the bag because it just happened to mine. I don't stuff mine at all and it still has the dent

You’ve made me want this bag! Yours is the quilted leather but do you know how this differs from the matelasse? They look so similar.
Oh yes Girl, you won’t regret it! I have a comparison on my channel (it was my third yt video) of the Gucci marmont in matelasse and the YSL lou. Maybe watching this will help xx matelasse is just softer and maybe a tad more high maintaince but it’s also very soft and feels super nice and luxurious 😍

Ooo lucky you scoring this bag! Oh yeah price jumps, it seems there is a price jump on everything. Last night we ordered a pizza and two small salads and it was $40! That bag is BEAUTIFUL. Oh that is good it does not make a lot of noise. I just rid of a bag with too much hardware 8 zippers in total plus other hard made it over three pounds empty! Yes sometimes the help in these high end stores can be a little snooty. But the bag is a stunner for sure and you can fit a fair amount it it. 👍 😍

Omg I have the same problem on the top!!!!!!!. I also have a ysl bumbag the leather is soft and nice but qualify is bad. I don’t think I will buy a Ysl again
I heard the fixed a couple of things on the newer models so hopefully they have fixed this but it’s still really annoying and such a shame to see this from a high-end brand like YSL

i am torn between this bag or the envelope bag!! This is more practical tho, cheaper and larger!! So torn!
Do you like the look of the envelope better? Otherwise just go for the camera bag because you won’t regret it! I always think that functionality overrules looks because if you’re struggling to fit items in than you won’t like using it as much
I have both, and they're both gorgeous bags. If I have to choose, I would choose the camera bag since like you said it's more practical. I have the medium envelope and love the look of it since it's super structured. However, you can't fit much and the chain is super loud.
I'm not sure where you're from, but if you're from the USA. Check out net-a-porter.com; however, use the UK site since prices are usually cheaper. Once you check out, just convert the total to USD. You can usually save anywhere from $100 - $200, especially on YSL items.

thx for the video ! I watched another video about this bag and that the excess strap that sticks out tends to pucker up. So when you wear it, the end strap curls up and it looks annoying. Did u have the same problem? I wonder if depends on your height which affects the length os the excess strap sticking out thank you !
Yes I think so too! The shorter you wear the bag strap the more access material you will have and then the access leather strap could curl up! But also you have a little leather tap that is movable so you can keep the strap in place. That’s why I did not have any issues of that sort! I hope this helped 🖤

Did your bag squeak when you first got it? I just got mine and the straps are so squeaky

Another pro is this bag is very light unlike LV or some other bags that are so heavy. IMO without the tassel the bag looks plain. I have the same problem on the top. Looks deformed.
Yes so true! Heavy bags are just not comfortable for everyday and this is perfect! Such a shame with the deformation but the hassle thing was fixed on the newer models 💕

It definitely has a fresh leather smell but it’s not supposed to be stinky

It has both but then again, I bought this almost 2 years ago and I think they have upgraded the tassel because many people complained 😅
They have taken the gold tag away due to it being easily put on counterfeit bags , I spoke to the ysl store , the identification is now put inside the bag 🥰
Thanks for the review! I actually got one and the bent in the zipper drove me crazy, so that's why I searched for pros/cons so thanks for confirming that it is expected in the bag. That said, not worth the money tho, too expensive, there are other nicer bags in that category.

I'd choose a Celine nano luggage or a Chloé mini Marcie crossbody. The Celine one is more expensive, but way better quality. The Chloé mini Marcie is the best value, is cute and comes in so many colors.
Sehr schöne Tasche! Ich bin gerade mega am schwanken zwischen der Lou Camera bag in hellrosa oder weiß ODER der Antigone soft medium in dem hellblau... und ich kann mich einfach nicht entscheiden 😭😭😭
Also mit Givency habe ich noch garkeine Erfahrungen gemacht, deswegen kann ich dazu leider nichts sagen! Die YSL ist qualitativ echt super! Besitze einen Gürtel in weiß (ist aber kein strahlendes weiß sondern hat einen grauen Unterton) und ich bin total zufrieden :) hatte beim Gürtel keine Probleme mit Verfärbungen!

Probably if you over stuff the bag ...That deshapes it.
I never do:) I just show you what fits inside but I actually usually only carry my wallet ( very small), phone, keys, mask and lipstick so that’s definitely not the issue

Great choice. I love vintage, they are so unique. I have some older Gucci bags (2010) and a favorite Chanel Jumbo Black Caviar Silver Hardware Single Flap (17 years) that I prefer vintage. I even restored some old LVs because I loved them so much. Thank you for your video. I like them. LYXBAG
