I cringe every time a watch this epi. I didn't like this epi, but it's reality folks. Racist still exist. Ms. Renee is brilliant in this epi. Did she knee him, did mine eyes deceive me? Ms. Renee is awesome. I still watch epi of OLTL wishes Vange comes back. So proud of what she's doing on Broadway, "Good People" and the like. Keep up the great work Ms. Renee. You are so deserving.
OMG, I remember this. What a bold storyline and very well done. I loved John and Evangeline. John and Natalie are so "yesterday" IMO. At first I was kind of leary about seeing John and Evangeline as a couple but it was one of the best things that OLTL ever did. And what a great way to mention the differences in race. That scene must have been really hard for all of them; especially the man. I am hoping that he is completely acting and isn't like that in real life. He did a great job.
But it's a reality & if they never addressed it, it would not have been a real-ish situation. I read an article where REG said that she liked how race wasn't a factor to JOVAN, but that it had to be addressed sooner or later.
I just watched this the other day after not having seen it in years. I had to come back to it again because I couldn't stop thinking about it. What a great storyline! Sometimes the brief story lines are better than the ones that last months-and they are more memorable; especially when they have a 'message' like this one.
look at all his clips with van he's always smiling,I was a big crave fan but jovan are sooooo smokein hot together...........they should bring her bac i miss her :( plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz writes bring her back
@bloofan06 Ironic. A bold and brilliant story line from the same people who eventually succumbed to racism themselves. Now that is sad. REG brought forth a brilliant character that got away from them in the form of a super couple and they blew it, cause they were afraid of that same racist contingent and tucked their tail under and fell to it. Now that is pathetic. No balls. No glory.
Doesn't matter how we got here, we're here to stay. I just didn't think that "issue" should have been brought into the story line. Their race was never a factor to me. I just loved their incredible acting skills and chemistry. But that was just 1 of many mistakes on the writers part.
This has happened to me!! I was in a restaurant with my ( Then ) boyfriend. He excused himself to find the restroom. While away from the table. Two young women proceeded to get right in my face & began yelling in unison about taking their ( good ) black men. I am a proud disabled woman. A wheelchair user from birth. I was also informed how disgusted they were that he would rather be with a ( broken ) White Girl. Than a Black Queen!! I laughed in their faces as management made it's way towards the commotion. The whole restaurant was now watching the show. Including my boyfriend who was returning. I said I was amazed by the amount of ignorance it must take for people from one oppressed group. To discriminate against , & oppress another. Disability being a defining characteristic. As is skin color!! Needless to say. They were escorted out & we had a free meal, & a bottle of wine. On the house.
+KelliViti As a wheelchair user there is one big difference though. As close as they were while yelling in my face. I never felt an immediate threat of physical violence. A wheelchair makes that highly unlikely.
So sorry this happened to you. Why we go out of our way to undermine others choices in who they love is a mystery to me. Color nor disability should have anything to do with who a person loves. I hope you and your boyfriend are still together. Be bless and be happy.
@@nitacas8803 This was many years ago in 1990. We were together for five years. Our complexions were never an issue. For us, that is. It also had nothing to do with why things ended. We parted as friends.
Who is the actor who played the racist? He looks familiar. There was an actor on OLTL the other day who planned the janitor or someone like that who worked at the motel that Natalie & Rex were at. Rex showed the guy a photo of Jared and asked him if he had seen him. When I saw him the other day, I knew I had seen him before. The actor's name, according to the credits on OLTL, is Harry Prichett. Is this the same guy, does anyone know? I imdb'd the actor and it doesn't mention OLTL.
If John was there, the racist would have never approached Van. You know those types are cowards.
He better be glad that John wasn't there!!! Johnny Mac would have KILLED him!!
Imagine if Todd had been there! That guy would've been knocked backasswards, LOL!
Exactly, you know Todd don't mind going to jail for a good cause. He knows he loves him some Vange.♥️🎶💃

You are so right. This could have been a very beautiful story line for future generations to enjoy.
Anyone see the resemblance Van Michelle Obama
Michelle O. Would have punched that man right in the mouth.
Nope..... Did she play her?
Great acting

You are so spot on. They let this one get away.
This was after Nathaniel Marston had broken his leg. He hadn't even been off crutches that long. He limped for a long time after that.

I'm sorry that happened to you. We're all human, l will never understand why race is such a problem for some.
