Bud is Darvin Ham Sr. They shouldn’t have fired ham if they’re just gonna hire the guy who taught him
Ty Lue would be the ideal choice but really don't see the Clippers allowing that to happen. I understand the comparisons of Budenholzer and Lee to Ham but Lee may be a coach that needs the opportunity to be the lead guy but don't really see them taking another Budenholzer protege.
JJ Redick is intriguing and if they could get experienced veteran coaches around him...he'd be my choice if the Lakers go with a first time head coach. But that lack of coaching experience makes me extremely hesistant. If Kenny Atkinson would take the lead assistant spot with JJ as the head coach, I'm very interested but not sure he would leave Golden State for the exact same position.
For now, I think we should wait to see who else may emerge as a candidate. Does anyone have any thoughts on either David Adelman or Chris Quinn as options? They're both top assistants for perennial playoff teams.
Tyrone lue won a championship as a rookie coach so why not hire jj redick??? He isn't simillar to darvin ham who doesnt have voice

I would choose someone with at least some nba coaching experience. A great outside the box option is a coach that was an assistant for coach pop for 10 yrs and now back to back wnba champion coach..Becky Hammon. Brilliant basketball mind and could add rondo as well as experienced assistant to bench.
Ham's Offensive system like Budenhozer ran wasn't the problem. When Ham ran the lineup people were screaming for, they were among the best offenses in the league. It was that he stopped using the systems in it for no reason when teams showed they couldn't defend it. As well as lack of defensive basketball knowledge and lack of adjustments mid-game at a far higher level of inexperience than Budenhozer's.
That said, Kenny Atkinson is the best pick.
Give us JJ then get former head coach that’s had defensive mindset as lead assistant then hire Phil handy back just for development

Either Rui needs to be replaced with a 3&D guy or gets traded for a C then slide Bron and AD to their natural positions so we have our own twin towers. That's the only thing they need to do with the core. Maxwell lewis and Max needs to have consistent minutes. Tell them to focus on developing defense in the offseason. I think it doesn't matter who the coach is so long as Bron is still with the Lakers. He'll be so influential and that was the problem last season. I thought he and Darvin were at times having a power struggle.
My greatest take away here is that how tf is Budenholzer younger than Atkinson
I would get Kenny Atkinson but if Ty Lue is available, I’ll get him as the head coach and would get Kenny Atkinson, JJ reddick and Phil handy as assistant coach

Out of the likely coaches I would be interested in seeing what JJ can do. He's the only one who understands how to win with modern NBA offense. He can pad the staff with vets.

Since they are not available. I would try to get JJ and Rondo on the staff. I don’t have a preference for the main HC role. Just someone that is competent and has years of Playoff experience.
I say we go with JJ Reddick. Dude is too smart and well spoken to be a failure. Hes also not afraid to call anyone out and wont be a pushover to Bron.

The Lakers should consider taking a look at the lead assistant coach of Denver and Timberwolves they look solid and better management and playbook than Ham
I’d go with Atkinson or JJ Redick… if Ty Lue isn’t available 👍🏽
