I worked in Singapore we back 2011. Majority of Singaporeans treat their helpers that way. Employers should treat us good, we sacrifice ourselves to be far away from our homeland and take care other people instead of taking care our own parents or children. Now, I'm working in Taiwan and I've been here for 6 years. Taiwanese are friendly and generous. Kudos to all OFW anywhere around the world. We are the real hero of our country. I have a Cambodian maid. Less than 6 months after working with me, I told her I want to bring her home to her country that she can celebrate her new year with family. It was a great holiday for me as I learn how they live in the village without running water and electricity. I was staying with her family. We had a great time and the village ppl welcome me with open arms. I treat my maid like my own daughter. Along the months, I was assisting Cambodian Embassy who asked my help to house few abused Cambodian maids by employers in Malaysia. And trust me the horror on the degree of abuse they suffered are terrifying. Some were beaten up so badly, starved and made to live in the dog kennel and some ran into the jungle to leave their employee house. The bruises and tears on their face will always leave an impact on me. I just cannot imagine how horrible some ppl can be, just because they are "sir, mem, boss". To those ppl who have maids, pls don't think you are ENTITLED to treat your maids/staff with abuse. It is plain sick. If you have problem of your own, deal with it instead of taking out on others.

All Singaporean employers must watch and learn from this. One of my friend have been stuck being a maid in Singapore. She told me how hard her life is/was. and she isn't able to get out of this.
We had a helper too, from Indonesia, she is the best ever of all. Like a second mum to us,we cuddled with her, we annoyed her,we laughed,we still do things when she said no but she has never ever raised her voice. She is such a wonderful person. We love her
Yeah sure you Singaporean fucks all say that
This is still happening today ..still many employer attitude as seen on the vidio..
They think they bought a slave instead a helper..work many still ask her to do massage..
What's the difference between buying a slave versus a helper?
@@BigBoss-kk8hq Helpers choose to help out of their own will when you can't handle it. They are very much like casual butlers. Slaves just do whatever their 'masters' asks them to. They do it without the will to do it, they do it because they have no choice and it's the only way for them to survive and are treated inhumanely and as objects or tools and get rewarded or paid very little. Helpers do it out of their own will, but because of strong laws, they get paid well enough, if not, exceeding the amount most get paid. There may be underlying reasons, but regardless, it's still something they choose to do. Slaves can't choose. Slaves are forced to do things. Whether they want to or not. And it's cruel. I hate that slaves still exists today. Even if it's not obvious, I'm certain they do in some places. Helpers are to treated with respect and have back up because they're most likely working in areas with strict laws to protect them, but slaves are probably sold and found in rural areas or something of the sort as sch areas probably don't have strong enough laws to stop such cruel activities. Helpers can file a report when they are being abused whereas slaves are seen as objects and tools, something to be used, and no matter where they go to try and find help, they will be treated with mockery and cruelty and be disregarded in most cases. It's cruel. Also, if you really want to know answers to things, go to Google. At least, that way, no one would have to tolerate your questions with patience in order to keep the peace and not explode in your face. It exists for a reason.

CAN'T YOU COOK YOUR OWN DAMN FOOD? MY FAMILY AND I HAVE A MAID AND I STILL COOK MY OWN MEALS AND/OR SNACKS
I mean sometimes they just don't have time when both parents are working and the kid is very young. This case is the same I think
@Happy Lemon yeah well that doesnt mean u wake someone in e mrng fr sleep n expect them to cook for u..shes a human being. If yr hungry make somethg that doesnt require any cooking then..but then again even my 10 yr old knows how to cook maggi

But I don't rlly mind
I feel scared for the maid... gosh I had maid in my home from baby to about primary 3. we never treat our maid like that even if there is any maid that live with us lives with me in my room not the kitchen or the store room.... and our maid gets time off but not every week she gets it once every 2-3 months and her break can last from 1 week to 1 month....
rujet14 thats great Maam Godbless
rujet14 when I was younger I had a maid she was called tini so we called her Kaka Tini she left a couple years later cause she was in love and found the perfect guy now I'm good friends with her and her twins
rujet14 ME TOO! She went back last year and came back around May.. She sleeps on my bed with me.. it was technically my bed, since she didn't have a bed when she came back.. I let her sleep on mine.. on Mondays To Thursdays, I sleep with her so that she can wake me up in the morning for school... I'm still so glad that I still have her
Mine was BEFORE I WAS BORN she was already here...
We know so much about them..
But she only gets a day off sometimes only twice in once month...sometimes she has to borrow money from her friends because my dad keeps asking for money..
Sometimes I feel like not happy because she doesn't have off-days when she is suppose to have it... I'm Chinese but can speak Filipino FLUENTLY Because she taught me everything...
I know you guys treat your maids well. I'm not saying you guys are bad but I think it's too much to have just 1 day off in 2-3 months. How would maids self-improve and progress from being a maid? Never mind that. But does your employer give you 1 day off in 2-3 months and keep your passport?
Sometimes a maid is ill treated by an employer because of the maid's fault like unprofessional work/break the contract. But this video just shows an unreasonable employer so the maid cannot be blamed.
the beginning part is very realistic I see many employers behave like that!! this is educational. good job
Same when you are working at a workplace where Singaporeans are in-charge of the HR/Management position. That's the reason the Singapore Government need to remove or downgrade (demoted) all Singaporeans from top positions in most companies and replace them with foreign talents.

Jane Lee Wtf. Did you actually read what you typed ? What is so wrong about your employer treating u that nicely that makes u scared. In the video its just a simple thing like giving a day off and letting her join them for dinner , things that employers should do to maids. Afterall , maids are HELPERS not SLAVES. Your comment is just evidence to show how ignorant and ungrateful Singaporeans are.
Lol
Every human being deserves respect ,no matter what race or what they work as towards u.And if ur employer treats u kindly it just means she respects u the way u respect her, hope u understand that Jane.
BtsJungkookie Love nah it's not that I don't understand. If I were treated well from the start, i would not mind. But if my employer treat me badly at the beginning and suddenly treating me so good, it feels like I will get in a trap or something. It's just like If your pay is $500 per month, and suddenly your employer decided to pay you $10,000 just because he knows you deserve that and he was wrong for paying you so little. But I as the employee, I would rather decline the $10,000 and just take $500 every month unless I get increment according to the company policy. In the society, people have millions of faces looking at other people. In 2017, yes you can find kind hearted people, but it's really rare. In my country, most people are not in mind, we only can trust ourself to live this life.

We had a maid at home when i was a kid, well she was more my mother than my own was to me. My mother was an alcoholic and an abusive woman and was always insane, she would always beat me since i was the youngest, the most vulnerable, and yet always after that Nene(the maid) was always there to take care of us. She never quit even if my mother would slap and yell at her saying she was my father's mistress, even though it wasn't true. She was the mother figure i had since childhood. i was born on 2003 and she was with my family before i was born and took care of my older siblings before me. She was not only our caretaker because she was being paid for it, it was because we were practically her children even tho she has one of her own. Now 2019 she's still here with her 5th grader son, her son lived with us, and is still taking care of us even after our grandmother, her employer, had passed away without pay. She is my godmother and her son is my cousin. I luv her soo much and although her family is far from here, she still stays and that's why im thankful for her. I just wanted to share this😂😂

I've been with them for 5 years now. Having a Maid is not something employers to boast for and or does not give employers the right for domestic abuse/racism. Rather, it's a privilege, they should be grateful (most especially if they hired a very nice, competitive, learned maid).

i’m actually so done with employers abusing their maids. they are humans too and they deserve equal amounts of respect like how people treat us / how we treat others. i have a maid at home and my grandma lives with us. i hate it when she starts screaming at her as well. so what if the maids are foreigners and aren’t “family”. they are still human as well, and since they’re willing to work at your home and away from their country and home, they should be treated as family as well. those employers out there who abuse their maids, i have 8 words to say to you; screw you, get a life and some help

My domestic helper (who's also from the Philippines) has been taking care of me and my sister since we were born, and she loves us as if we were her own children. Bibash Gurung I so sad in the front this story
When I was in Singapore, I was shocked to see big crowds of girls spending their day off in parks. In the beginning, I didn't understand it till I sent a photo to my neighbour back in Vancouver telling her about it. She then informed me that these girls were employed as nannies or maids. So Sunday was their day off. They spent the whole day in the park as they didn't have anywhere else to go. So they picnicked with other maids or nannies. My neighbour told me, she was a nanny in Singapore too, that the majority of these girls were ill-treated and considered worse than animals. They had no privacy, they couldn't invite their friends, and they were restricted and shackled by many rules. Only the lucky ones could enjoy being a part of the family.

The daughter and the mom had the same attitude
That's because the daughter was copying the mom's behavior. If the principal hadn't called to say what the daughter was doing at school, the mother would continue to treat the helper bad. By listening to the principal, the mother could see that the daughter was doing exactly what she saw her doing to the helper at home.

“We treat our maid like family” is a dystopian sentence no one should utter.
my first employer was worse than this... she made my life a living hell..
Zhee Yan Kharl 😔
Same here
aw im so sorry i feel so bad for all those domestic helpers with bad employers
I hope you are living better now. May your bad employer burn in hell.
4:53 she is like SAY WHAT?!
lisa finally learnt not to drop plates.
The sister of my helper suffered physical abuse from her employer in Saudi Arabia. Her passport was taken and her employer kept hitting her. Everyone found out because the 6 year old son of her employer got in trouble at school and he got that behaviour by seeing the mom abusing the maid and saying swear words at her.

I've always thought maids were supposed to be treated the same way that other people were treated, if not better considering the amount of work they do. My parents would yell at me with no mercy if I were to treat a maid with such disrespect.
Here in the Philippines, the OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) especially the domestic workers are considered modern-day heroes. They have helped keep our economy afloat with the remittances they send back to their families here. Mabuhay ang mga OFWs! ❤
Duterte and Marcos are shit corrupt politicians who would rather sell their people than make the Philippines stable enough to not have to resort to going abroad and being a literal slave
I own a nanny & maid Agency in S.E.Asia for many years and I can tell u Singaporean employers are like this woman. They behave as if they resent the worker even being there, treat them badly and humiliate them. It is disgusting. I lived in Singapore too over 20 years ago and when I rented my apartment i was introduced to the maid who would keep it clean.....it turns out she lived in my apartment (in a cupboard under the stairs) and she cleaned several apartments in the compound. I increased her salary at the first pay cycle and told her she could have the spare bedroom if she wanted. She didn't take the bedroom but just by offering it to her brought her to tears. I cried too when I saw her reaction. It costs nothing to be nice and so few employers there were nice to their helpers.
I’m so lucky my employer treat me like her daughter, for 10year plus with them to me they are my second family (my second parents)

Look at the description, Lisa is a Philippine Domestic Worker
Like if you're a Filipino
And her English accent makes me laugh , but thats how I speak English sometimes
Her accent is cute actually
why would her accent make you laugh? i always give props to anyone smart enough to pick up a second (or third) language.
What so funny about it that it make you laugh..when I watch this video it make me feel like crying yet it make you Laugh wow
She is a filipino. I saw her on tv commercials..
Immature! Think twice before posting.
I've been thinking that she's a Filipina.. then I saw her passport. Filipino helpers are all around the world. Taking care of other people instead of their own family for money. Please be kind and respect them. :)
Always treat people the way you wish to be treated! 😇💜
I've once tried to worked there in Singapore as a DH and my employer let me sleep in the kitchen like a dog. But maybe it was not my luck and i told to myself it was just like a nightmare i don't stay for long because of the way they treated me.
Thanks God this time I've got a good life and if someone wants to work with me i never treated them as a maid and i treated them as my friend.
Whenever my grandmother tries to scold my helper, I would protect her and tell my grandmother to stop
"Protect" is not correct.
Why isn't the helper able to protect themself?
I'm housekeeper here in Switzerland.I'm very happy and lucky with my employers. They always appreciate my work and always gives me something like flowers, chocolates, gifts, thank you cards and tips. I do my best to give 5 star quality of service and dedication and of course honesty and integrity. Salute to all heros (helpers)around the world. God bless us all!
paano mg apply sis

Really touched my heart ❤️. Forget your money 💰 and power first be real human being. Beautiful heart ❤️ always makes everything better and beautiful
One of the good videos I ever watched. That mom realised and corrected her mistakes. But here, if we treat our maids equal, they use to dodge their duties and take advantage.
Remember: A maid is only a helper, not to substitute your role as a housewife. I have my mother's cousin who has alzheimer in early old age because nearly 80% of her house job is always done by her maid.
Karma
I'm crying my first impression, in this employer our Filipino Ofw worker in Singapore! And then the last very warm to accept our Ofw to join eating, very touch!

We always have respected them helpers back in India not live ins and usually it is us who have adjusted with no notice absence 🥴 but we also were vv lucky to have had a few v honest and hardworking ladies . 🤘🏼🧡
My heart is aching urghh
The way the woman treats the maid is horrible
That maid was so sweet she doesn't deserve that woman as an employer.

Children's are like foto copy machine,, what ever adult doing they will follow..!!
Kids will learn from parents and teachers 👩🏫 so parents and teachers can make a little mistakes but be careful because someone might be watching!
