The Golden State Warriors have become a dominant force of basketball. They’ve set records, won championships, and amassed a slew of team and individual achievements. However, there was a time when things weren’t looking so good for the franchise. In fact, the Warriors hold the record for the most seasons without a Playoff appearance, at 35. One of those seasons was in 2010, when the team won just 26 games. However, none of those games were as interesting as the very last…

Smartgaming that player had heart and passion. respect
Wasn't drafted yet
at Michigan state
JATT lmao bandwagon alert
Smartgaming he couldn't move. what the he'll you talking a out
LOL Portland lost with home to a team of 5 people
Faze Mateen Mateen lamarcus aldridge and Brandon Roy didn't play
Faze Mateen Mateen and you guys are taking Ls
reign W0V3 the whole warriors team didn't play, stop making excuses and take this L
TyFhoonBoom I'm just saying I'm not gonna sit here and be all pissed off I remember this game. We clinched the 6th seed so we didn't play some of our starters, also I'm pretty sure canny didn't play either
El Dee Ar Em as a blazer fan I was just laughing my ass off the entire game, and golden state still managed to beat with 5 fucking players lel.
I remember this game, to me this is when Chef Curry was born.
Illmatic662 we came from the same era fam
Dude he was basically unheard of from 2010-2015. He definitely wasnt even close to "chef" curry.
bubble butt been Steph curry w the shot been cookin w the sauce chef curry w the pot boii
Freaking INJURIES... He was second to Rookie of the Year that year before he got injured in 2011 and missing the next 2 seasons
Illmatic662 sad he a bitch
this is probably the birth of stephen curry domination
Sir Herry not what id imagination curry nation would refer to
Maybe at Golden State...but I remember watching the Davidson/KU game in the 2008 NCAA tourney (KU won...but it was down to the buzzer)....he was already dangerous back then.
Curry wasn't a media icon until ~2013-4
💀💀💀💀
I think it was his career night vs Knicks
Is this why Curry always play so well against Blazer lol
LMAOOO
Jingle Joe brush it really be like that
and now cus Lillard hoists deep 3's as well.
Jingle Joe he played well hit entire career lol
dr j Lillard has always shot deep threes. and everyone is talking how curry was underated. Lillard is underated. he is now the third person in the last 30 + years to have over 8000 points and over 2000 assists. in his first 5 years. the other two are Jordan and James.
I bet any warriors fan today couldnt name 4 of the players on that team
Xavier Savage Before watching this video lol they have too many bandwagons
man, all the bandwangoners already are cavs fans by now.
neither can the hater bandwagon
Steph curry, monta ellis, corey maggette, anthony randolph
Xavier Savage u can't say ANY warriors fan, i mean i'm pretty sure the warriors had fans back then... Plus everybody knows Ellis
The Legend of Stephen Curry began on this night.
💀💀
you serious bruh?
Well the legend started on his mvp idk about some weird game in the season
Naw when he hit that half court shot on okc
Bryan Tali stfu dumbass
Props to Curry, he never gave up, not in this game, not when he got injured, he bounced back and win 2x MVPs, 2x NBA Champions, but people still find a way to hate on this guy.
and now a 3xtime and back to back!
agree
And how many finals mvp?😂
@@markstv7885 man you're expecting because you have something to expect. I know what you're trying to make up with. You cant compare this team no any team cause they started from the scratch and became a champion for being an homegrown players.
mark's TV Curry got robbed on the Fmvp 2015 and 2018 should’ve been 2x FMVP by now
I was waiting for the final plot twist where the coach enters the game :(
Javier Torres or the refs joined the warriors players 😂
wtf we had the same thought hahahaha
Javier Torres I thought MJ would sub in and hit 14 points in 3 mins.
Corneille K does manga mean what I think it means, lie?
Javier Torres lol me too
That's is cold! That team of at least 12+ got beat by 5 dudes 5 DUDES lol
Gohan & Goten Show well, remember, curry counts as like 3 guys
Awsomenezz10 curry wasn't like he is now though. He was like 70% of what you see now.
Curry at 70% is still better than 75% of the guys in the NBA.
I would say Curry as a rookie was probably 50% of what he is now.
This past season I was on a team with 5 people and we went 10-11 lol
Speaking as a Blazers fan who was in the stands that night, whilst I cannot speak for anyone else, I can say with certainty that I, and everyone in my immediate proximity, wasn’t booing the Warriors for their coach’s (frankly quite appropriate) interpretation of the rules. We were angry at the refs for endangering the three injured Warriors in order to meet the letter of a rule that is actually there to *prevent* injury!
Yeah man, it's not fair to put injured players that can get injured again in the game, and not even attempt to solve the problem by giving technical fouls.
That makes more sense because Blazer fans would be happy with the technical free throw.
I thought they wanted injured player to go in the game i was aboit to comment at how mean blazers fans where till i saw this comment
Blame the refs. It’s their fault.
haha i saw alot of fans throwing the T's up...they wanted to T the refs for endangering the players
I remember seeing this Warriors roster on 2k10 when they had updates every day during the season and virtually their entire roster was highlighted in red and had a bunch of players with minus points ratings because of the injuries. They were pretty much unplayable and it was almost surreal how much injuries they actually had.
The only reason the warriors are doing good this season is because of me
Javale McGoat yeah even though they just blew a 24 point LEAD
+AlexAFG7 still got the best record in the league tho
FreshBoyBucketz still blew a 3-1 lead for the first time ever in the NBA FINALS
AlexAFG7 they blew the 24 point lead cuz they wasn't playing me enough
Javale McGoat ..
2 things:
1. This should tell you how great Steph Curry is
2. Sports referees can be the dumbest people on the planet sometimes
Isaac Sung Ikr curry was always hella cold.. even in college.. U know u got to be good if you have LeBron coming to see you in a college game
Isaac Sung LAMOOOOOO
Isaac Sung L
Isaac Sung Ikr they were trying to force a bunch of injured players to play
Isaac Sung Sometimes?
You see them at there lowest, and when you see them finally achieve greatness you see them get hated on. Like it's just sad.
People usually dont like to see others succeed. Thats why theres a lot of haters, not knowing the struggle they been to.
Hate them or love them but damn that warriors team deserves respect
This game revealed that Curry was destined for greatness. I'm not even a Curry fan.
jfrd072891 but you'll be called a bandwagon anyway because cavs bandwagoners crack down on any positivity regarding the warriors, well-deserved or not
ThTcraft man real talk. facts
Warriors fan do the same thing to the Cavs.I'm a Rockets fan as well.
+ThTcraft what do you mean by "Cavs bandwagoners"
Just anyone you see online who's a Cleveland sports fan you bunch into that category? I'm confused
papapapenis
The amount of people on the Internet who are cavs "fans" and don't live in Cleveland and weren't cavs fans until either A: Lebron went back or B: Lebron won game 7 against the Warriors, is absolutely astounding to me. They're literally all over the Internet now. Since the finals there's accumulated more cavs bandwagoners than Warriors bandwagoners. It's sad
The refs were so illogical here it's not even funny
Dom2k I love your vids man
+Dom2k Yeah, it was pretty ridiculous. Thankfully no harm came from the injured guys playing.
Dom2k hi Dom I watch all your vids
Dom2k my man dom what's up

Hi😂

Meh
The Portland crowd was really disrespectful here. Who cares if it's the opposing team; to boo a coach because he doesn't want to put an already injured player in the game is classless. I'd like to see any of them go play an NBA game with an injury
+Kobefan2408 Yeah they really were a bunch of jerks. I don't know what they were so upset about.
They were upset about losing their money. Those jerks only cares for themselves.
Were the Portland fans aware of the circumstance? I'm pretty sure casual fans would've had no idea regarding the Warriors' injury situation and just assumed that Nelson was whining.
They won't even go to work if they are injured...
im pretty sure the portland fans were mad at the refs for NOT letting the guy who fouled out back in the game
And people say curry got good 2-3 years ago such bs
Jm3 how??????
Jm3 I'm Pretty sure 2012-13 Seaason was more than 2-3 years ago

You never even mentioned that this was don Nelson's last coached game ever! One more win to his record. What a way to finish his career.

No wonder Steph has the max contract he saved that franchise way were the staff doing to be put in that position
The Warriors may have the most interesting story of all time. From disastrous injuries, to one of the greatest players leaving, to dissapointments, but finally to NBA champions, held on the shoulders of Stephen Curry.
Did anyone else notice that the announcer's words matched the coaches lips at 3:14
yea
It's a scripted league believe it or not.
60NXNP09 what does that have to do with anything...

because it was a replay
Just remember guys, Portland choked a 5 player lead.
LEECH SRL actually 8 because they have 13 players when the warriors had 5
at home
Imagine losing to 5 guys that arent resting. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
this was actually about how good steph curry is. End of story. He is one of the chosen ones. That explains all that there is about him.
This was the emergence of Steph! Little did the world know, GSW were building a winning team around Curry. Each year they builder and built the Superteam we see today.

◄ziadTheJinnai► I have a story: there was a team down 3-1 in the finals, about to get their butts kicked. But then they came all the way back as the other team choked
+Sachin Johri are you talking about the warriors vs the okc thunder in the western confrence finals?
also there was this dude who had to be CARRIED off thecourt for a cramp
can i guess? is he the Greatest Player in NBA? rofl Greatest player my ass... can't play without proper airconditioning.
◄ziadTheJinnai► who was this?
Is this where the GSW and Blazer rivalry began 👀 no wonder why Curry plays so well at away
I'm a golden state fan and my brother is a trailblazers fan and we have a rivalry lol but I was forced to go to a stupid Portland game against san Antonio and I was a rebel rouser wearing a curry jersey lol and they did this thing were they drop the game ball from the top of the stadium to the court are section was chosen to start and when explaining the rules they said keep the ball away from spurs fans and looks at me or warriors fans lol I hate Portland and my brother hates golden state. I was on the big board in the middle for about 2 seconds waving a curry jersey in a spurs- blazers game lol. Fun note both curry and lillard have great games when they play each other lol
Javale McGoat lol. I bet he cried when Curry dropped 17 in the OT vs Portland G4
Lol nice story dude
Was it really a rivalry lol
Man, you are one of the few Cavs fans who aren't completely annoying. Probs :D
With the amount of injuries again this season, this might be a reality again
Watch curry drop 62 against portland and 57 (with 11 3s) against dallas
Respect if you was a warriors fan back then.. Curry is the OG on this 2017 squad on the low.
from now on total respect for Curry and the Warriors. This lad has seen it all.
I remember once in high school the girls varsity team had 6 players to play. One of them got seriously injured while the another was fouled out and then came back in just to get injured. So for the rest of 3 min they played with 4 players on the court and manage to get a W when making their last free throw. Reminds me a lot of this game...
Lakerfan4ver Wow that's amazing
Lakerfan4ver Kobe is the G.O.A.T
weve ended up playing a lot of rec games with only 5 people. we won most of them, but the few Ls we took were massive blowouts.

What about this season? Already gave up. Rip. Curry is great but gsw succ
Bandwagon
Graham Searfus facts
Not all warriors fans are bandwagons I’m still a warriors fan and we suck this year but idc
Missed a couple key facts here:
1. Portland was resting its starters as they had already clinched the 6 seed.
2. The 42 points by Steph Curry was his career high (and season high) at the time
3. Would've been nice to point out that Reggie Williams, Anthony Tolliver, and RJ Hunter (I think) were all D-Leaguers brought up to play mid year because the warriors needed more players.
4. The Warriors team that year missed around 550 games due to injury and basically were Steph Curry, Monta Ellis, and whoever is left.
Yea I figured that but still a crazy game to watch.
And here it is, the evidence of why Golden State Warriors are doing so great. They fucking deserve it.
Currys the real OG.
This was my favorite ball game of all time. They showed so much heart and for what was Nellie's last game.
Bandwagoner a be like, is that a special jersey?
ImAtYoGirlsAt5 yeah it is they wore it all the time way before you became a fan!

Derp Man they always didn't wear that same jersey Dumass
Jesus Galaviz bruh they stopped using it in 2010 that's 5 years before all these bandwagons came about and still quite a bit of time
If it was in 2010, wouldn't it be 7 years?
never heard of that story, nice video .
most people dont care about the warriors back then. only real warriors fans remember that game. and nba geeks who remember all the great games and stuff
I'm an NBA geek and I didn't even know. I remember that lakers game when Kaman was napping on the bench tho lmaoo
dionysis e ice been following basketball since 2002 and I had no clue about this game. This would be like a bobcats game
They walked awai with dignity...
Something that has been long forgetton in this era...
Them being forced to be in the court despite being injured was well paid off. And the way it was executed, was savaged.
monta was a favorite of mine but when we traded him for andrew bogut i was mad but then i realize the team we built.
Every warriors fan was pissed. You guys booed the gm and owner at I think it was Chris Mullin's (correct me if its the wrong player) jersey retirement ceremony.
W
dude i was pissed when we fired mark jackson then i was stunned by how good of a coach kerr is
Ryserz OG Congratulations, you just proved how completely empty headed you bronsexual morons are. Raider/Dub Nation writes a comment about how he was still a fan when they traded Monta for Bogut. Which was the year after they came off of a 23 win season. I don't think any bandwagons want to support a team that wins 23 games in a season.
i remember a similar thing happened with the Lakers in 2013/14 season against Cavs, when Sacre got 6th foul and was allowed to stay on the court. Meanwhile Chris Kaman (who fouled out earlier) was literally laying down on Lakers bench because he was the only one there. I think 2 or 3 LAL players got injured in the middle of the game and had to leave the court.
Haha I left a comment about this game before seeing your post! Kaman laying on the bench was fucking hilarious. Not only were the Lakers down to 5 bodies, and like you said Sacre "fouled out" and everyone of his fouls from there on out was a technical two shots and the ball, but the players they had were all trash and the still beat us. Steve Blake turned into Steph Curry in the 4th. We were unbelievably pathetic and under achieving that year under Mike Brown
I think golden state had that happen against Milwaukee recently to
papapapenis that game is a part of the reason why I hope Mike brown never ever gets a head coaching job in the league again. I'll never understand what Dan Gilbert saw in him not once, but twice.
alonR8 that is a long paragraph made and I love that plus curry is an allstar he made it to the allstar game 8 times and he was MVP for 7 years
That’s actually the one I remember. Someone in SB Nation’s Weird Rules series mentioned this game when the discussion was on that one. This covers the situation as well as SB Nation does.
Don Nelson is a wizard. One of the most underrated coach of all time.
Curry got guts
why would you "take the loss"
its fun to win, and even better if its against the odds. you'd play it out.
plus all that crap of people getting "injured" would have given plenty of rest time - which is what you're actually fighting against with 4-5 players
FlashMeterRed better draft pick
Avi Ash there was no change in picks dependent on this outcome
FlashMeterRed also the fans were yelling at the warriors coach and players so it was nice to show them wrong by winning
Because there was no point in trying to win. They were playing against a much better team with only 5 people, one of them is fouled out so any time he fouls someone that's technical free throws, not to mention all of them played 48 minutes, and the win would ultimately mean nothing. It was the last game of the season and both teams had sealed there spot, so it seems logical that a tired injured 26 win team would just say fuck it and give up.
uh, there's always a point to trying to win or they wouldn't have done it. would there be a video like this if they hadn't?
No one says fuck it just cos they're down to 4, or even 3, players (obviously not talking NBA now). Its kinda fun how much a usually team-biased crowd get behind such an obvious underdog and the effort they still put in.
So much heart. Truly live up to their franchise name as 'Warriors'. Curry has only solidified many fans admiration for him with this hard-fought victory. I also give recognition and appreciation to every player they've got at the time for staying throughout the game and did their job with the best they could.
Insane yet Inspiring!
This video made me respect Curry a bit more, talk about starting from the bottom lol
What a time when the Lakers where the 1 seed
All the other teams were actually good too. What a time for basketball, before all these dumb super teams
Cole Lutz and when the Celtics were ballin out with the big three.
Cole Lutz Celtics where a super team back then
Same goes for the L.A. Lakers, you know.
damn lakers and celtics are shit now
Are you kidding me? The NBA refs didnt know the fucking rules? Again those fuckin refs screwin the game
rbk915 easy. without them you wouldnt have NBA games either
They did know the rules. They just interpreted differently than the coach did. They were saying that on paper you said these guys can play, so technically you cant use the fouled out rule, because they have more players that can come on the court.
yup. the refs were totally right.
Awesome that the warriors did that though :)...makes for a way better story
rbk915 no matter how much you whine about the refs, it still doesn't change the fact they interpreted the rule correctly, and you were wrong. How does it feel to be so wrong?
Who knew an issue that has NEVER happened before would cause confusion.
Steph curry really is one of the greatest nba player of all time, i will really not regret idolizing this man

How can you forget? I had season tickets to that season and the lockout season after that. Why? Cuz they were dirt fucking cheap and I could always guarantee going to a game to be disappointed. ESPN has to do a 30 for 30 on this story. It's amazing, dramatic, and culturally significant to the birth of the current Warriors.

I was at this game as a Portland fan back in the day. It was bizarre for sure. I can tell you though, we were more upset at how long it was taking the teams and refs to sort things out. We thought it was ridiculous that they had to send in injured players, albeit somewhat hilarious that they would go in just to foul someone. Yeah, keyword "new" GSW fans. Warriors have ranked top 15 in fan attendance for the past 20 years, where they only made the playoffs SIX TIMES in that span. If you have a top 15 attendance in 14 losing seasons...that's loyal. Warriors have tons of bandwagoners but also tons of OG fans too
This Video is really awesome ! Good Job
I read about this and it's great to see a video about it
This happend to the lakers 2 years ago i think

That wad hillarious, not a warriors fan but props to them
refs: "your player cant play because he committed 6 fouls"
coach: "ok"
**everyone else that can play proceeds to claim an injury**
