    I like your set up. I also like your energy in your videos. It feels like I'm hanging out with a friend who's excited to show me what they do. It reminds me of my best friend and is relaxing.

    Mount an xlr speaker amp to the inside top of your camera drawers in that wasted space. It would keep your cable management clean in your already set up pathways, hide the clutter of the amp, and make it easy to access while out of the way enough that you wouldn’t bump it once you set your levels.

    I love the desk, except for the keyboard/mouse tray. I prefer using the main platform of the desk with an extra large mouse mat because I like the range of motion it affords me in first person games. Other than that, I'm in love with this desk. Kudos!

    You are directly responsible for me building my own desk, I've been working on it since you dropped the video about the draw that holds your laptop. That video gave me a rush of ideas, which I'm now executing in my desk. I hope to be done with it soon, I just got the legs in for it. The legs are awesome, they have a build it area for a shelf. It was finally nice here and I was able to square up the sides and plane flat the top and bottom of a 2" x 12" x 8' board that I'm going to use for that shelf. Unfortunately it started to rain before I could stain it, so that will have to be another day.

    For good cable management, buy some 1 inch black finger ducting. It will fit nicely in that nook by your power bar and it will make the management super easy!

    Hey Zac - I LOVE your videos and because I'm dealing w/ this issue right now, I have a suggestion for the whole XLR/preamp space issue...considering you're pretty tech savvy, it'd be cool to see you fabricate and add a controller (volume/gain/phantom power toggle) for whatever mic preamp you would go with and wire it to come up through the Laptop drawer into the top of the desk. Maybe make a push toggle for the controller to pop up and then you push it down to hide it flush w/ the desktop? Or maybe a flip top cover? Then you could wire it to the preamp which you would have stored either in that laptop drawer or behind your desk and have the XLR cable hidden as well. I have the same mic mount (same finicky issues too) and an XLR fits perfectly in the built in channel. I rarely comment on youtube videos but this issue hits close to home!

  • @andremartinez418
    @andremartinez418 2 роки тому +7

    I remember the comments when you first put that keyboard tray in. I also remember everyone including myself really wanting some info on the chair cause it looked so good. Too bad it was a bust comfort wise though. The desk still looks great but I see you haven't fallen down the custom keyboard rabbit hole yet, could be fun making a custom keyboard case but might be difficult making a full video for it to justify the cost.

    Great desk and very practical for your use. But 1 point i thought i would mention is you have your GPU push hot air downwards, but naturally hot air goes up. Personally i would flip the motherboard so that i let the GPU push hot air upwards while your back fan exhausts it out (i noticed the back fan is at the top too which would help airflow in this case)

    • @YoloVib3s
      @YoloVib3s 2 роки тому

      @@ZacBuilds Is your mic flopping around or the arm? I know I had to routinely tighten the captive screw that threaded into the bottom of the mic. I've since swapped over to the Elgato Low Profile Wave arm in order to move the mic out of my line of sight & give a more podcast type of feel. I'm currently waiting on my new Deity V0-7U mic to arrive to replace the Yeti X.

  • @Hermiel

    12:50 XLR mic ≠ amp on desk. I'm pretty sure you mean _audio interface._
    Speaking of which, there are plenty of small, sleek interfaces out there that you can hide or remote control.

  • @velli37

    This is such an awesome desk! I've been stuck with a small, really cheap work desk due to space constraints and it's alwasy covered with computer stuff and cables and junk. No drawers no keyboard tray (which I miss having) no nothin. It makes it hard to get things done sometimes wrasslin cables and even just trying to make space for a coffee mug at times. If you were to put together a build doc to replicate this, I would definitely buy it 😅

    Maybe you can buy some amplifiers from Icepower, they are practical and sound super good, at an affordable price.

    Zac, it seems to me you checked all of the boxes for your desk. I would love to build a desk myself, but I still lack some of that skill set. I love the fact that you created the height at 36
    in. We are on the same page there.
    I have not started filming any videos after about 7 years. I am currently 70 years old, and at that age, it seems I don't feel very secure in front of the camera.

    Desk looks great. Gives some ideas for my future, future desk build. lol. Have you tried Davinci resolve for editing, it's free and even can let you set up the design if your used to premier's layout. I have used both, and recently upgraded my pc because it was 10yo and was having troubles, but Davinci is a pretty good program.

    Maybe a custom mechanical keyboard? Pick a layout you like from kbdfans or whatever (I would for TKL or 75% given the transition from full size and the space you have), get the PCB, switches and keycaps and put together an amazing custom wood case. That would look sick in that setup!

    Awesome stuff, very very jealous :D as for furthering the idea, custom keyboards are a whole rabbit hole of their own, you could get a board with switches feeling (and sounding) just how you like it and have a custom layout - I'm thinking macro columns could be handy for workflow with your editing, also am encoder knob or two can be neat for video scrubbing or just things like volume -/+
